+kuwait85 Haven't watched part 2 yet, but what interview? Colbert kept interrupting with idiotic quips. Maher could barely get a word in edgewise until the last minute. This is only the 3rd time I've watched (a part) of the Late Show with Colbert as a host and I've come to the conclusion that he's a complete dud. Not my cup of tea and certainly no Letterman.
great interview from both sides, when I saw Maher was the guest I knew I had to watch this. It did not disappoint. I could have predicted the display of raw brain power and uncomfortable ideological tensions that you could cut with a piece of newspaper
Far from it, I'm a fan of Bill Maher and I saw him personally when he came to my hometown IN TEXAS to do live stand up in a room full of a lot of people.
+Amisse Baras I like Bill Maher, but just not in this interview. I think he came there with an attitude and he kept taking cheap shots at Colbert. By the end of the second segment he seemed so petty...it was disappointing.
+Amisse Baras He's just acting jerky on stupid and religious nutheads around. He is more so aggressive on bullies, especially on the trampling on the minorities around. I don't necessarily agree 100%, but I like his hostile comedic and political satires and nitpicking.

***** As do I, as the name would imply. Frankly, I totally understand being critical of Islam as a religious concept. On the other hand, I believe these criticisms need to come along with solutions and and resolutions to the current problems. Merely acknowledging the moral issues in Quran text seems to do little more than fuel discriminatory actions in the individuals in the population that are already bigoted. Not to mention, people draw illogical conclusions about the application of ancient text in their daily lives. Where some see 'murder infidels' others seem to see 'show love.' Ultimately people use their religious perspectives to magnify their own, preconceived societal values and beliefs.

I like Maher and I'm a faithful viewer of Real Time and his comedy shows, but I think he came to this interview with a chip on his shoulder and his comments were not necessary. This could have been a good back and forth conversation if he wasn't trying to hard to prove he was funnier.
Though I have a lot of respect for both . I felt like Stephen was interrupting Bill a little too much. They are both talk show hosts and comedians but since Bill was the guest I feel like Stephen should have let him speak more.
Can Colbert let Maher talk? He starts a topic and then when Bill is actually making an informed answer Colbert just interrupts and mocks his responses. Seriously, let Maher speak.
Nice Jurassic Park reference. In that book/film the park was run by people who thought they were in complete control of their system. And the moral of that story is that perfect contol is impossible, and trying to impose it forcefully will have equally intense repercussions.
It's refreshing to see two people have a relatively civil discussion with opposing ideas. Rather than two complete dunces, or one dunce and one able minded attacker.
I think I know what's going on between these two: Colbert never invited Maher on his old show 'The Colbert Report', And now Maher is showing some resentment.
