Even the artstyle of this game has changed so much. It's rather astounding to see how far its come over the years of development...
very fortunate development
yes this development was very not unfortunate@@Birb7789
wow
this game has changed a lot
Wranobble
Yeah
Yeah
hello from 2k2x with 1.5 upd
Yes it does.
Yeah
Crazy how much they already had in the alpha. Looks like multiplayer was always intended but just, never actually happened. Despite the aesthetic changing quite a bit, I still recognize a lot of areas. Pretty cool to look back like this. :)
i mean story mode multiplayer probably wasnt intended but theres arena.
Multiplayer will be released with Downpour.

@@aatroxtheworldender933 shouldn't it work with remote play? Well, technically this is multiplayer.
@@Jifoxy yeah, it works with remote play or parsec
Hey James if you’re reading this: I really like your music. It’s a good way for me to calm down and I don’t know any other artist who compares to your music.
There used to be frickin bubbles in this game??? Wow
2019!!!!
@MR22 lol what? There was never pups in this game
@@ka-boom2083 Yes there was, there is literally pups in this very video. They weren't in the final game, though.
@@snatcher226 lol that’s what I said, there’s no pups in the finished build of this game.
@@ka-boom2083 You said they were never in the game.
@@snatcher226 that’s right, it was never in the game. At this point in the development rain world was unplayable, it’s just a few paintings in unity.
seeing how much this game changed makes me so much grateful
Aww, agreed
The game looks so beautiful :)
You should see it now
yeah man u need to update us on if you've seen and played the game by now
Memories
yeah)
It is.
I heard about this from David Rosen's GDC talk on procedural animation, it looks really endearing!
yeah it looks really cute, i hope it comes out and the majority of critics are a fan of it!
now on greenlight! steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=213453611
a lot has changed
the lizards aren't killing each other for an insignificant white blob
After nine years, rain world has changed so much.
interesting how.. aesthetically developed (?) it already was at this stage. the mechanics and general art direction of the game would by and large stay the same, but it just looks very unpolished at this point

So here we have the origin of the name. xD

No matter what mood I am in, that title theme never feels to make me feel depressed.
N I N E Y E A R S A G O ? ! ? ! ? ! ? ! I THOUGHT THE GAME CAME OUT AFTER THAT
WELL I KNEW THEY STARTED MAKING IT A LONG TIME AGO BUT I DIDINT KNOW THAT IT WAS FIRST SHOWED 2 DA PUBLIC N I N E Y E A R S A G O
FR 😭😭 I thought it was at least six or smtg first time I found out abt it XDD
3 years later and i still want the song played in this trailer.
ua-cam.com/video/QInQsYgZDf8/v-deo.html < This one here?
with downpour out, it actually kinda sounds like metropolis' threat theme, i wonder if connor took inspiration from this
What were those bubbles going to be? I'm asking since they never became part of the official release.
They were a passive creature that hid in tunnel entrances and ate batflies.
they basically became the snails
Theme music so good i didnt even think about it 9 years old
had a really long comment about stupid stuff, but basically I really like this game, I'm glad it was made.
Its cool to see how some of these old rooms and creatures actually made it into the actual game
Amazing, fluid animation with a nice art style. YES! I'd like to ask that you try and bring it to PS4/ Xbox One/ PS Vita- preference on the Vita!
did you ever end up playing it?
@@SevenRedSunsOfficial yeah I’ve got it on steam and ps4 :)
@@Synthesthesia noice! I only have a switch, but I love this game even with some frame rate issues in intensive places like farm array.
Everything about this comment makes me happy. I don’t know why.
@@Synthesthesia did you play the dlc?
THANK YOU VIDEOCULT (AND SUPPORTERS) FOR GRANTING US RAIN WORLD!!!!
So this is where it started!
Looks pretty sweet, love the graphics!
Very
pretty funny seeing that the slugcat has pretty much stayed the exact same since alpha
Is it just me or did alpha / old Rainworld have such a different tone and atmosphere? Like yeah the one we have now is amazing but the one shown here was... much more melancholy in a way.
I know this comment is old but, I think the change was for the better, compared to today's Rain World the regions' atmosphere and color schemes seem a bit repetitive.
So amazing who could dislike a game this cute
Those who hate the difficulty probably. I get pissed with it too but have fun as well.
Let’s show some respect to the batflies , even NINE YEARS after they stayed the same, near pointless creatures we love (cooked).
Will this game have multiplayer? Also congrats on getting greenlit!
This need to be Released on PSN...
Oh what a journey it's been
At least it's getting updated now
Amasing how the game changed.
are the lizard teeth bigger in the alpha vertion?
the music at the end sounds slightly different than it does now
Some of these rooms made it into the new regions
why is no one talking about the slug pups and the coop mode that had a little sneak peak at the end? (which both of those things got scrapped in the final version)
edit:they actully are going to add coop mode!
LIZARDS WERE SO TINY! LMAO 😂
and here it begins
Yep
Hey something I have to ask the developers of the game. Why'd you change the title logo? That was a good logo! Now it looks much crisper, but the game seemed to be going for an urban punk tone in the early development and there is still evidence of that everywhere in the game.
it kinda looked like the Tumors inside Five Pebbles tho
Actually when I first played the game I felt like some punk athmosphere with the gravities and the structures in outskirts
The art style changed ALOT😂
O my god i love this kind of games !!!
If you make rain world 2 I will be happy
Me too lol, it would be epic.
Raim wor😊
where it all began. i absolutely adore this game!
Should of had a question mark pop in on the Coming soon at the end
Nice character animation
anybody know the music in the beginning?

@@陰間小白船 Do you know what kind of music is playing from the video "Slugcat Life"
Wow, this looks so much different than the actual game...
Just look at how far this game has come

Is there anyway I can buy this?
To this day it's only in alpha, should be complete by the end of this year. It's also possible to get hands on with the alpha, I recommend it.

Interesting..
are you rain world developer? if you are please please make multiplayer!!

ori and the blind forest. imho.
This has been in development since before Ori was unveiled, if you mean it looks similar.
In development for five years, actually.
better if you ask me, my hands on play time recently (6 months ago) compared to Ori - ori is smaller, less creative maneuvers, weaker soundtrack, and far smaller of a game.
if this is Ori and the Blind FOrest (even though it has been in development before Ori believe it or not) Ori & The Blind Forest is a good game, but I dont see the similarities, this game (with a full 1,700 rooms - an open world survival platformer) it doesnt look or sound or play like Ori. Ori is more traditional (its open world as well) but smaller, it was a good game no doubt...but I think if Rain World continues - the hype (which atm has sort of a cult-classic feel already) - will meet the expectations, when I played it (as a few others have) (a newer build) - 1.07 beta in SFX (East Festival in 2016) I got some real hands on...its so smooth, controls are great, such a great level of ambience & my god the dynamic routines of the creatures, when two creatures clash its like watching Nat-Geo some animal documentary...real and life-like despite being pixel-fantasy. Theres something magical almost (and I rarely am the one to say that kind of thing after 30 years of gaming) I think this game has more going for it then 99.9% of which is out there, I wont say revolutionary or you know PUMP it up to a level thats you know (easy for a cynical person to say overrated or overhyped) but in this games case, it deserves the praise it gets. So far, so GOOD, so really good. I mean...soundtrack is ambient, but spooky at times, but gives that nostalgic feel...the controls are like the PC version of Super Meat Boy (spot on and tight) not too tight, but perfect (almost). Better then most lets say that, large varied world, beautiful pixelated backrounds, the motion & sway of grass, the rain, the water effects, the particle lightning, the shadows, the movement of your slug-cat (hes both predator and prey) hes strong, but he can be eaten by damn near anything IN the game, and monsters dont have "set" routines, they can follow you anywhere, and yes its true what the developers said about monsters that are not killed = breed, and can produce hatchlings/babies that in turn (are like hybrids) whatever the male creature was and the female creature was (cause monsters have 1 or the either sex-traits in this game) they produce babies/offspring that have new abilities and are even worse then their parent-counterparts...and they can follow you anywhere, and "learn" as they progress...you a very nice variety of weapons to use, enviroments (1,700 room as of last count) NONE of them are linear/or blocked off, you can basically go anywhere, explore to your hearts content and theres alot to explore...alot of monsters (big bestiary) tight controls, great soundtrack, some really awesome dynamic mechanics in this game (the monsters, the weather, and your own character) are all dynamic, maybe a 10 minute rain storm, maybe a 2 minute rain storm, maybe no storm or snow for (extended periods of time) theres a diablo-esque cult-appeal to the "randon number generator' fanatics/obsessive types are going to love t his game, 100+ hours of going "deep" into the game, exploring every nook & cranny, and killing every type of monster + monster baby hybrids...and so many ways to kill something (be it a bolt, your slug-cats small cat-like claws, a bar-bell, a hammer wench, or even DROWNING a monster) imagine drowning a multi-colored baby spider only minutes after it was birthed on-screen by its parents to make sure its dead and it never comes back to (cause babies grown into full adult creatures and can then reproduce and produce a 2nd generation and so on and so on) you can get "generations" of hybrid creatures...theres alot of variety, alot of amazing ragdoll physics literally your slugcat has 80+ different motions and animations when he climbs, falls, skirts to a fast-stop, turns around, ducks, sways back and fowarth when you sit him still for a few moments...I mean this game feels like a REAL piece of art, complete & total package. So maybe its not for everyone, maybe some will (undoubtedly bash it, and hell cant live without the negativity or cynical POV's right ?) they are entitled to their opinion, but honestly being a gamer for multi-decades I've come to the conclusion that opinions are just that...subjectiveness/taste (nothing more, nothing less....for a lack of a better definition). To each their own, but this game is right down my alley, I love survival, I love platformers, I love open world, and I love the idea of a indie/retro inspired platformer, has nothing to do with trends, or whats hip or whats cool...it has to do with what I enjoy and I know what makes me "tick". I dont fall into trends..or get angry when someone doesn't like the same thing, hey far be it for me to take away from your enjoyment. But this game has alot going for it, and the lengthy (near 6 year) development cycle from 3 experienced but indie developers in 1 team/1 group for more then half a decade. I have that "feeling" that 90% of the time is right spot-on, no its not hocus pocus or deja vu or anything just you know I have a strong feeling sometimes when something is going to be a BIG hit, thats going to get rave reviews, critical acclaim & sell very well (both in television, film, video games, and literature & music) every now and then I get that feeling and almost always it ends up coming true....like "oh yea...this is going to be [IT] ....massive potential, such a warm-hearted, but challenging and yet nostalgic appeal to it...so I hope the game ends up being the masterpiece I think its going to be (like Braid & Super Meat Boy before it) games that are retro inspired..and have done well, making a boat load of $ for these average indie developers with limited budgets. It has heart, and it feels like a piece of entertainment that blurs the lines of art&entertainment. I love my big AAA open world games, and racing titles, and RPGS (and western open-world/sandbox rpgs as well) JRPGS, APRGS, you name it. I love gaming across a wide variety of devices too (console/handheld/PC) I don't do "fanboyism' I can pick & choose any title across any genre across any device/platform. If I like it, I like it, other opinions be damned. Overrated this, underrated that, overhyped & blah blah...in the end if the game ends up being what I think it will be...I will be quite happy, to me honestly 2017 looks to be shaping up (for several titles from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Rain World, Red Dead Redemption 2, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Sundered (another platformer with a survival in a post-apocalyptic enviroment thats creating alot of noise) all set to be released in 2017. I hope atleast 3 of those titles do really well...something to look forward to.
@@Itzsfo0 And Hollow Knight.
Rain world began development a long time before ori. And these games are like complete opposites. Ori is a more traditional metroidvania, where as rain world flips everything on its head.
