I am pretty late for the train hype and I am a guy who likes a lot to create "scientific" concepts and atributes to ficticional creatures so here was my idea for how those different slugcats would have emerged and their evolutionary advantages: Rivulants: Originating The Survivors, they present much stronger muscles in it's limbs, as well as a faster metabolism, they also present adaptations to a semi-aquatic lifestyle, developing gills and fins to move faster and breath underwater, this semi-aquatic, highly energetic lifesytle emerged from The Survivor's reliance on agility and speedto outmanover predators and frequent visits to the water to use other creatures as transport. Gourmands: another evolutionary result of The Survivors, they present the biggest body changes out of any slugcat, specialized to tolerate long periods of time without food due to their body fat, which combined with a thick hide, makes their body ideal for long hibernations and defence from predators, thanks to their bigger and more developed stomachs they get more energy from any food source, they are also more inteligent and dexterous, being able to create items with materials found on the environment an ability necessary for them to deal with predators, since they lack the mobility and agility of all the other slugcats. Saints: originating from The Monks, they present a large tongue wich they use to traverse quickly through areas in search of food and to run away from predators, an evolutionary advantage credited to the Monk's only option to deal with predators, fleeing, they receive more energy from fruits and other plant food, an adaptation of their metabolism credited to their pacifist lifestyle. Spearmasters: Evolutionary results of The Hunters, they are even stronger and more agile than their ancestors, and take their predatory lifestyle to the extreme, with the ability to create natural spears, wich are naturally shapened and hardened within an especialized organ in their tails, they are also specialized carnivores, receiving little energy from fruits and other plant matter. Artificers: Strange evolutionary offshots of The Hunters, they retained the strengh and speed of their ancestors, but acquired a new peculiar ability, bio-combustion, with a particular substance in their body being able to create small explosions able to launch them in the air, they can also spit said substance in itens to turn them into explosives, beside being extremelly efficient hunting method for smaller creatures and a good defence mechanism, the Artificers specialize into other highly specific method of getting food, raiding, by using their bio-combustion and handcrafted explosives, they are able to raid Scavanger tolls and strongholds, looting food, weapons and tools, because of such, The Artificers are natural enemies of Scavangers. All of those are just fake scientific atributes I created for fun and decided to share lol
As an avid Rain World player that recently guided a friend of mine through the game, I'm so flakking excited for this expansion! Also, is that an _albino King Vulture_ at 1:55?
Strangely it only seems to appear around the Spearmaster. Would be super interesting if it was a special vulture that is hunting the spearmaster throughout the whole game. Something like the SAX from Metroid.
a lot of people are talking about the gourmand goomba stomping the lizard but one thing i just discovered at 1:39 is that instead of draining food like the video said, the spearmaster actually GAINS one food for every spear hit on a target. sounds completely busted
Some techniques/advantages for these slugcats Rivulet: leeches are no problem + you can drown various prey like eggbugs or lure vultures down and use beehives to trap them down there. Saint: who needs grapple worm + the only real lizard threat are tongue bois. Spear-master: walls are a suggestion + if you can drop the spears and they have trade value then you can pass tolls ez. Gourmand: can do a goomba stomp + crafting = maybe new items = more trades with scavs. Artificer: can launch self at will + bump up the trade value of spears by making them explosive.
Absolutely love this game and I’m cautiously optimistic for the dlc, shame this has to be shown during the games fest but I suppose we need some really good games there to balance out all the terrible generic fps games
Mobility and combat has been the most fun for me so far. I don't mind the challenge of having such short jumps. It's kinda cute. I think that my favorite would be the saint - One more move to master. But I not having the spears is a thorn in my side. I love taming
Did...did the Gourmand just goomba stomp a lizard?
The power of gravity
Yes!
You can also see the Artificer boost around with little explosions
Yes
Also when downpour comes out i will bomb every lizard i come across

He’s a thicc, slow as molasses (that scene “running” away from the lizard lol), but crafty boi. I’m very interested!
I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH!!! I cant wait to play the dlc
Love the designs. The Rivulet's axolotle gills and the Spearmaster's big skink tail and Gourmond's obease hobbling is great.
I just downloaded Rainworld a couple days ago and I am about to sit down to play it, finally. I already know I'm gonna love the game, so I am predisposed to be excited about this expansion.
its gonna be great man, its gonna be great
The artificer reminds me of the demoman from tf2: wounded eye and a shit ton of explosives
SO whatchu saying is that the gormond and the artificer are friends explaining theories and recipes to each, other one is chill and the other is chaotic as fug.
I’m so excited for this dlc omg
OMG tysm for the showcase of the upcoming dlc, super hyped :DDD
Rivulet experience would be like: Every day is speedrun
Artificer: doing everything into a bomb. Yep, that's a DnD class alright
This kind of stuff is what keeps me hopeful for the phrase 'indie game' in the near future. Keep being awesome, Videocult!
I am absolutely so excited for this DLC I have just been waiting and waiting ever since I discovered it on Steam I was like what is that can I found out it was a DLC I was so excited 5in Tire years and something brand-new is happening which is amazing because my save on the PS4 has already gotten all of the sandbox items and little Maps
3:23 THAT'S SO CUTE OMYGOD HAAHAHAHAHAG
I am pretty late for the train hype and I am a guy who likes a lot to create "scientific" concepts and atributes to ficticional creatures so here was my idea for how those different slugcats would have emerged and their evolutionary advantages:
Rivulants: Originating The Survivors, they present much stronger muscles in it's limbs, as well as a faster metabolism, they also present adaptations to a semi-aquatic lifestyle, developing gills and fins to move faster and breath underwater, this semi-aquatic, highly energetic lifesytle emerged from The Survivor's reliance on agility and speedto outmanover predators and frequent visits to the water to use other creatures as transport.
I’m so fucking excited dude, only one more fucking day
Wow, comparing rivs beta hibernation art to the released version is so different, massive improvement in my opinion
"The spear master drains one food for every spear it lands on a target-"
Proceeds to show spear master regaining food from landing a hit 1:37
Yeah I got confused too. What they mean is that when it lands the spear drains the food from the creature it hit.
Artificer is Torguecat and I'm here for it
As an avid Rain World player that recently guided a friend of mine through the game, I'm so flakking excited for this expansion! Also, is that an _albino King Vulture_ at 1:55?
Yes İt is an albino king vulture.
@@yagiznebioglu1852 Absolutely phenomenal
Strangely it only seems to appear around the Spearmaster. Would be super interesting if it was a special vulture that is hunting the spearmaster throughout the whole game. Something like the SAX from Metroid.
a lot of people are talking about the gourmand goomba stomping the lizard but one thing i just discovered at 1:39 is that instead of draining food like the video said, the spearmaster actually GAINS one food for every spear hit on a target. sounds completely busted
They meant draining food from the Enemies I believe
@@re-blitz ooo
Isn't spear master severely nerfed from the albino KV tormenting it
Some techniques/advantages for these slugcats
Rivulet: leeches are no problem + you can drown various prey like eggbugs or lure vultures down and use beehives to trap them down there.
Artificer: can launch self at will + bump up the trade value of spears by making them explosive.
list of food needs for each slugcat
(Key; food to hibernate:extra food)
Rivulet; 5:1
Spearmaster; 5:5
Saint; 4:1
Gourmand; 7:4
Artificer; 6:3
artificer won't be able to trade spears though, because scavangers will attack him by default
Weather!!!!! And snow finaly + love the new slugcats
Absolutely love this game and I’m cautiously optimistic for the dlc, shame this has to be shown during the games fest but I suppose we need some really good games there to balance out all the terrible generic fps games
Question: Which games are you referring to with that last barb?
@@thegrouchization Pretty much every other game shown during the first day, I don’t remember any of them
@@ZorillaMyrid181 Strange that you say that, because the vast majority of said games were anything *but* generic.
@@thegrouchization ohh a triggered commentor I see 👀
@@cheesestick512 More someone who finds wilful ignorance detestable.
Oh i am fucking looking forward to this. Brilliant game
Ah yes my favourite slug cat
Soldier TF2
how they neglected to mention artificer's tail explosion that can function as a double jump or even a parry
Never thought this game would get updated. But I won't complain
Never played the game and only recently started to learn more about it, but I think this guy alone just sold me on it
Anyone gonna talk about the pure white vulture?
Mobility and combat has been the most fun for me so far. I don't mind the challenge of having such short jumps. It's kinda cute.
I think that my favorite would be the saint - One more move to master. But I not having the spears is a thorn in my side. I love taming
It took me a few seconds to realize you have to feed lizards dead creatures to tame them and need spears to render creatures dead
the saint (not sure if it's right) is just spiderman in disguise
criminally underrated game
Yoooo spearmaster looks like a frickin power house lol. And saint is basically no hit.
Rivulet: Sweem
Saint: Deny aggression.
Spearmaster: Poke. Poke poke.
Gourmand: F O O D
Artificer: Kaboom?
