Cary Grant is my most favourite actor of all times, and I was not even born in this era. Wish they would make movies like this today. That is why I do not go to movies anymore....they leave you empty.
It's not all that bad but yes movies like this are not made anymore,,no bad foul language and sex is suggested and rarely is a murder scene .usually it's not gore and blood n guts like today's,..I'm 56 he's one of my favorites too..he was quite the comic actor as well
I was just talking about him and thought wow ..imagine if he could have sung and danced,,
I just love Cary Grant and this film was so good! I wish they made more movies that had good lessons and growth in character as themes. Nothing made nowadays are worth viewing.

i love Cary Grant & yet i have never watched this film, so again thanks, gosh he even makes smoking a cigarette look good and he was English, top man.
I only can say, Cary Grant is the best there is. I think that for a very long time, and the more movies I see with him I never saw before, the more I think my feelings are right. From my 9 years till now it is a great plesure to see his movies. And that's for more than 45 years. I hope I can see more movies with Cary and that I find more and more movies, "little" tressures.....!!! 😊💖👍🏻

Cary Grant has a way of making any movie he stars in a classic. First time I've seen this movie and found it quite enjoyable. I love these old black and white movies, much better than what's produced today. Thanks, Joe S
It's Jan 25, 2018 ~ I'm 74 and wasn't thought of when this movie was made. // Cary Grant stands alone in the field of actors. He could be funny and he could make you mad, glad or sad. He had a gift of excellence. He loved his career and we his fans after his time still love his performances. // Those were the days when all there was for entertainment was film or live performances. We're so lucky to have UA-cam and TCM to entertain us with film of the yesteryear's of the 20th Century // Enjoy and plz keep them free for all to see.

A silly movie that's watchable only through the presence of Cary Grant. Cary ALWAYS making a movie a must see.

I now remember this movie from childhood! I love CG! I think this is an excellent movie! Waiting to see it after running errands! 😃. I remember as a girl cheering him on in this film & I loved the ending, which I can’t remember exactly, but I do remember the gist of it! ♥️

I love how, in the movies, it takes only eight musicians to sound like forty.
There have been a few times in my life when money was more than abundant and my wife and I shared willingly with those we loved and sometimes with those we thought deserving.

When I was a young man and moved out from home, I had three jobs and was going to college. My father invited me for lunch one day. He asked me how I was doing and I said I was tired and working hard. And I was tired of working. He to,d me get used to working you are going to be doing it for most of your life. And the real peril of wisdom was “Son the only think worse than working, is not working!” He was so correct!
Miss you dad. Him and his brothers all served in WW2. Dad saw the first wave at D-day, and wounded at Battle of the Bulge. His older brother was a Navy medic assigned to the Marines and saw a lot of action in the Pacific. And the middle brother was on air ship patrols for the Panama Canal and Rio De Janeiro.
God bless them all for their service! I greatly miss my WW2 vet dad as well, especially on days like tomorrow (Veterans Day). And he had similar sayings! We were so blessed to have parents who were part of the Greatest Generation! May they rest in peace, and may we always honor and pass on their legacy.

Wonderful and great story with Cary Grant, can't be beat!
Four years after this picture was made I was in the same area working under the sidewalk making men's suits so I remember going up and down the stairs to ride the Tube back and forth to my home in Watford. In 1945 I was rescued from that job by going into the RAF.

Thanks for finding this. It was good fun. Great to see London in those montages at the start. Grant is always great value and as usual he takes us with him. He did use a lot of influence in trying to win his bet. Not sure if he was as good as his word.

I thought the fight scene was worth the price of admission all by itself, but "Eat your caviar" took the cake!
One of those fights were they beat each other up but nary a scratch.

Oh I love this mans acting and the fact that a person with a dream can get there with focus. I love TCM, more so when ROBERT OSBORNE was still alive...there ..sharing historical information to the date of the movie and the lives of those in the movie...details... the way he told the BACK STORY was amazing..not as much scripted... he was amazing and I love old movies.... always have. Maybe because the most stable of relatives watched old movies and to me they were new movies... i am 52... so just know it means enough to me to see old moves to the point i have been on a cruise where Jerry Lewis and Debrah Kerry were to be on the ship... she fell il and died just shortly after her daughter did that played in the first Star Wars. I cry at each passing... like a member of my life just evaporated. Weird. But their skill the back grounds the utter details mean historical reference for me of those with more morals and skill...than most have in their baby finger.. that is why the old masters out lasted their life times. They were REALLY that TALENTED. They didn’t need props or fake digital images...etc.. memorization...can you believe the time it really took to prepare. Their are a few good ones now and then...not like those that really had the GIFT.
Another comedic performance by Mr. Grant was "I Was a Male War Bride"...hilarious romantic comedy

So grateful for DVD’s to be able to see his very old films. First one I saw was North by Northwest in Radio city Music Hall at age 14 yo.
This film that Grant made back home in the UK in 1936 fell into the public domain and has been badly butchered in the only version we now have, which is twenty minutes shorter than the original. The German-American director, Alfred Zeisler, does the usual low budget job of keeping things moving. There are some excellent character roles, however, played by any number of first rate English actors, but it’s Grant, amazingly likable and charming, a true star, who makes it all seem better than it is.

He did not like being Archibald. The memories were harsh. I hoped in his final years that he learned to embrace his passed, that gave him the chance to change his life for the better

"money makes the world go round, the world go 'round" - i'm not kidding, if i got a lot of $'s, i'd give to charities first, i'd know it was there for mr. ok, maybe i'd go to dinner at the Russian Tea Room and take a bunch of people with me first. . . the best thing a person could do with money is what happened in this film - just imagine. . . then i'd go to Europe as i've never been there. . . jeez, maybe i'd even get a facial and an expensive hairdo (nobody used the word hairdo any more lol - it's from the 50's - funny how as you get older, you start using words from when you were a kid - icebox, victrola, grip, spaghetti - sometimes these words just flip out of my mouth LOL)

its not that bad i was born in 1970 , grey up listening to heavy metal, punk BUT classical music was, and is still a huge part of my life , as well as jazz, the only thing is, the newer generations aren't aware of the early influence of such music

It’s his authentic self ~ which is not only attractive, but unique ~ It’s not something we normally see, let alone interact with! The kind of soul we can only dream of knowing. I love his voice. Even though he’s from Britain, his voice is not typical of any culture I know of. He worked hard to accomplish his stardom & it shows! I love men who know what they want & he did! Men who don’t give up but are always climbing to reach their goals ~ they are inspirations for those who are around them. He’s someone who graced other people’s hearts on the screen & other people’s lives around him ~ wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a soul like his in your life? He definitely understands that he is a part of THE ONE we all are ~ but most of us don’t grasp it ~ he did! He had a mission in life with his oneness & he accomplished his life’s purpose in order to reach higher for his souls perfection. Many of us feel that shining aura from his spirit ~ I do! What he did in life was like accomplishing a sense of rightness, like instilling a perfect puzzle piece that fit into the BIG puzzle we are all a part of, trying to achieve our souls perfection with the oneness of love.

this movie is an could be a two or four part adventure type alot of ups an downs in this. some what like under cover boss. love these flicks showing like in real life its a small world. did they have a movie house rating for this flick in that day. its Nice to see people helping it would be cool to do as i have seen in this. also dont forget the actor is as good as the director an back an fourth

Cary's one of the best but I can't help being disgusted by the reality of these wealthy elite scum living it up on the richs made on the backs of the poor who were kept down as part of elitist scheming and conniving with the doctrine that the masses must be kept slaving and starving in perpetual helpless subservience as ready participants in the next wars and never to upset the increasing flow of wealth to the elite
What a great many people didn't know is that 'that' class of people, good family, lots of money etc were poorly educated, especially the women.As they didn't have to work there was little point, but they could ride and drive and talk in a certain way ,,
I was very saddened to find out at my age of 66 that he was very gay and was in love with Randolf Scott. They lived together on and off. I dont care if people are gay but I was saddened to know .
