- The new 9mm Glock 49 Gen 5 MOS. Available in standard 15 round capacity or 10rd restricted state capacity. Having MOS makes this handgun optic ready, you just have to mount your preferred red dot and you can ignore the standard U-dot sights and be ready to go. Or, you can change out the sights if you really dislike them, or leave them on there as I do, as I like them. This is basically a Glock 19 size frame with a glock 17 slide. Being Generation 5, it has no finger grooves, it also has a reversible magazine release and an ambi slide catch/release. We also included a size comparison with three other pistols.

Glock 49 is basically like G47 but with a G19 frame. Same slide for G49 and G47. I have a G19 and G47, it’s basically the same change out.
Which one do you prefer?

The gun I tried to get the Glock engineers to build fifteen years ago when I had some connections. Finally gave up when they introduce the G19x and G45, which is backwards, and took a first year pre mos Gen 5 G17 and did a grip chop and fitted the G19 backstraps. Been carrying that for almost 6 years now, and everybody that shoots it asks the same thing. Why doesn't Glock make this gun? I guess better late than never.

That would make too much sense, an actual concealed carry gun. I emailed them about the possibility of a "1926", and they said no plans currently.

Not quite, but I get what you mean. I don’t actually want a Polymer 80 though. I’m not a fan. It’s an issue of troubleshooting and warranty work. I’ve built and owned some Polymer 80’s that worked fine. Other builds never actually worked no matter what I did to them. When you roll your own, you assume ALL responsibility for how well the firearm runs. If you can never get it to work, you don’t really have a firearm. You just have a pile of components that look like a firearm shaped object that don’t do anything. When I purchased from reputable dealers and manufacturers, whenever I had trouble I shipped the item back to them so they could deal with it.
Why? The frame is usually what prints for concealed carry. That's why the G45 didn't make any sense to me. If you want more ammo capacity, get a 26 and put in a 33rd mag or a drum. Lol.

They dropped the ball with this one. It would have been nice to release a new frame with an extended the dusk cover to utilize compatibility with the 17 slides and avoid the goofy dusk cover look. We already this with the 47 slide and 19 frames.
Now that Gaston Glock has passed away, perhaps we will see more of the ergonomic & cosmetic changes that the Glock detractors say are needed to update the design (as well as metal sights out of the box, more refined triggers, and an optional external safety). Personally, I will continue to be a loyal Glock customer even if they don't "innovate" in a significant way.
Kids are competing with glocks, professionals are using glocks yet somehow grown ups are complaining about how a gun feels.......unreal
May we have this in a gen 5 MOS 10mm please? Glock 50: with 40cal and 357 sig conversion barrels, and a 45 cal upper kit!!!

MSRP was quoted at $745 but my FFL ordered from Lypseys' one for $645 after taxes , 4473 cost , ect. The Gen 5 MOS Glocks all about $100 more than non optic versions. I'd love to see Glock bring back the RTF texture as a option for us who want more aggressive texture.

Love how everyone hates on Glock but can't tell me a better pistol. They may all look the same but all those "pretty" firearms are just that.... pretty. Get butt hurt if u must but Glock is KING for a reason.
Could you show us the combo builds of the G45 and G49? So you can build a regular G19 and G17.
This is what I’m trying to see, I’m looking to get into glock’s and if they work interchangeably that the combo I’m going for, “4 guns” for the price of 2

I have all gen 3....17,21sf,22....no front serrations...and a 42 gen 4.

A good reliable handgun just like every other Glock I’m sure, however I would like to see Glock make some other types of handguns for once. Surly a massive company such as Glock could design completely different handguns.
If you make too many changes, then it no longer becomes a Glock. It’s a reliable tool. No need to change anything to be honest. It’s like the AR15 of the pistol world. Can change whatever you like.
Not true, look at companies like Springfield Armoury or CZ just to name two , they have manufactured striker fired and other types of pistols like the Springfield Armoury 1911 and 2011 for example. But they are still Springfields or CZ or whatever.
@@conservativesniperhunter7439That’s just not what Glock does. If you want a Springfield and want a plate form they offer, grab one of those. People grab Glocks because they’re Glocks. People know what they’re getting. They’re the #1 selling handgun for a reason. Whatever they’re doing works.
@@ryanranard5187 iirc Glock's market share has slipped quite a bit. They still sell a ton of guns, but Sig is outselling them recently in the US market. Glock used to make up something like 1/3rd of the polymer pistol market. Back in the 00's there were really only a few good polymer pistols, now theres a ton.
I think Glock manages their brand a lot more like Apple. Limited selection, not necessarily the most advanced features, but you know you are getting a polished product that works.
Think back to the 90's and early 00's. It was Sig 226's, B92's, and Glocks. Not much else has really survived from that era.
I’m deciding between G49 and G19 for home defense. Did you notice any difference in accuracy or recoil between those two?
Overall, they handled and shot pretty much the same. The longer grip on the 49 will influence how well you can concel it for carry but neither seemed noticeably different in recoil or accuracy.

A Glock is a Glock. They go bang 99% of the time wet, dirty, or greasy which is why cops, militaries and everyone uses them.

Why? There are plenty of lights now that fit perfectly with the 19-lenth dust cover.
And doing that would require Glock to make a whole new frame. You know they ain't doin that shit, man.

I completely agree, the ass end, where the frame meets the slide baseplate looks terrible also. Not into optics so the optics cut out looks shitty and overall I’m concerned gen 6 will look even uglier… Glocks already we’re ugly but gen 5 made it even worse. Simple and minimalist is perfect. Everyone bitching about innovation should go for a different gun

Glock is an incredibly successful design, but recent “new” models like the G45, 47, 49 remind me of GM in the ‘80s: Slight variations existed between Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile & Cadillac, but there was little brand differentiation save for front/rare fasciae and trim. GM persisted in this homogenized approach to design because it was profitable… until it wasn’t. FORTUNE ran a cover story in 1983 making fun of how all GM passenger cars looked the same. It was titled, “ Will Success Spoil General Motors?” It’s a question that maybe Gaston & Glock’s board should consider.
The G45 is the civilian version of a military pistol & G47 is the Border Patrol Pistol. Cant blame glock for not innovating when they are just bringing contract guns to the public
@@AB1138-You raise a good point. Glock does create slight model variations specifically for government contracts. My point is that at some point only slight variations of even a proven product can eventually lead to a company’s decline. I have owned several Glocks over the last 3 decades, and I think they are a great design, but IMO they are all basically different iterations of the same design: the G17. Lack of innovation can kill successful companies. I would hate for that to happen to Glock.
@tntanto I totally agree. This gun should have been out long ago, and we are still waiting on the rotating action g46 & the gen 5 g40 10mm. I would love to see more niche guns from them. I'm only considering the g49 because I have the g17 & performance trigger.

this is all nonsense....ALL GLOCK HAS TO DO IS replace the standard parts with their optional replacement parts and have those parts to be standard parts. By doing this Glock would update and improve all their weapons......
I think the G49 looks unfinished and rushed. Glock needs to lengthen frame to match the top slide. I'll stick with G19. Bring us the rotating barrel Glock, Glock.

no
Yes, it is a G17 upper w/ a Glock 19 frame. i.e the opposite of the G 19x.
It likely may not work correctly as there are slight geometry differences in the barrel lugs, that is why our "frankengun" in the first teaser video did not go together properly.
