Hey everyone, thanks for watching the video! 🏁
Just wanted to say that I have unfortunately spotted a few mistakes which I apologise for, my once reliable sources have failed me!
But to turn it around into something fun, can you spot them all? 🏆
at least its realistic then
Berger's name (BER) in the Mexico clip is VIL, and the order of the five drivers at Spain '81 is not matched with the commentary (Laffite in 2nd, not De Angelis). But I love it in general, especially the Lastname "error"! Please consider Jerez '97 3-way tie qualifying, final lap of Hungary '97, and/or aborted start of Nurburgring '99 for a part 3!
In Brazil 2001, you used the wrong mnemonic for Michael and Ralf. Should’ve used MSC and RSC.
You just needed the F1 theme at the race end, otherwise it's perfect.
Both Schumacher bros are SCH,Verstappen in crash with Montoya displays the abbreviation "DUM" (we know what it mean😂😂😂) red star in Donington
Lastname vs Lastname was the best one
i didn't know lastname raced already back then
It most be the original Lastname, so the one we saw this year must be Lastname jr
Such a gifted racing family
Last name family are related to the Williams number 1 family.
Heel Race Driver yeah haha
Lastname spotted
Incredible! Thanks for taking the time an effort to make this 😮👏👏
Lastname vs Lastname: The battle of the century
2:54 woah those last name people are very competitive
Haha i thought the "last name vs last name" was just in there to add realism to the every-so-often real life glitch. Keep it up and let me know when F1 licenses you to do all of their races.
Lastname 😂 well done you’re great at this
Very good job man!! Keep doing more videos like this!
Ahh yes my favourite drive, Lastname
I didn’t know Lastname and Lastname’s dads raced in F1
great job!
Idk but it actually fits
0:45 That people, is why we listen to EUROBEAT, not some thing else..
So this Lastname already participated in those classic races but nobody recodnized until we used our modern technology.
If Modern F1 Races had Classic Graphics?
Like the Graphics from 2008? Or 1999? Or 1988?
From early 90 to early 2000, Numbers in yellow boxes!
@@zardinho Oh yes please. It'll be most entertaining to watch!
Tag heuer graphics please
TAG HEUER-SIEMENS would be cool to watch.
That Heineken star CGI though
AutoRockinRacing94 I had to see again to spot that.
Funny tho because that race was sponsored by SEGA rather than Heineken...
Should've put Sonic there somewhere, that'll be even more hilarious....
Well, we all hate the dumb CGI's F1 has been putting on track this year, but hey, at least let it be for the memes (hopefully they don't do it again next year tho)....
Would you rather have Heineken Star or a fucking cringy AF F1 logo CGI with "HAMMER TIME" text like in Silverstone....?
IMO I'd take the former, the latter just can go to digital trash can.... XD
(and no, I'm not Hamilton hater jic you might think so, I'm just your casual F1 fans that like the races in general since '98).
I thought it was real 😂

Lastname vs Lastname: Origins
real life lore
Apart from the side that it’s a fan-made joke like video with memes, the idea of adding modern graphics to old races is really good and strongly needed. Directing was awful those days and even commentators were not aware of what was going on. Such a responsive graphics with position changes, penalties, names and time gaps will add a lot to understanding old races.
Indeed. Strange how a whimsical bit of fun reveals how useful the modern approach to understanding a complex thing like a motor race can be.
These graphics are worse than what we had back then...
Yeah, no. Drop the nostalgia for a second.
The graphics back in the day were rudimentary, appeared to give information only every now and again, and did not help with guiding the viewer around what was going on. At least now we can see where everyone is at the same time, rather than wait for the display to crawl by at the end of the lap to tell us where the backmarkers are or whatever.
@@DanielLearmouth The graphics right now feel a lot more casual and cartoony than what I feel they should be. I wasn't even watching back then, because of not being alive, but I absolutely adore actually having proper full names on the scoreboard in a matter that doesn't take away from the actual action. Now we just have millions of graphics taking away the special feel of elitism that F1 should have. We're one step away from Nascar in that regard, and that's a horrifying thought.
Not going to say the older graphics can't be improved, but they added to the sport, whereas I feel the current ones take away from it. They're good for highlights and videogames, but on broadcast they should be as simplistic as can be, because the focus should be on the action.
@@DanielLearmouth In addition, to explain a bit more, we get too much useless information - All that's needed is a graphic that shows what position the drivers are, and how far they are from the leader. And some simple ones denoting pit time, penalties, and in today's case, tyres.
Instead what we have are time to leader (great!), BUT THEN.... time to eachother, then positions gained/lost, then WDC live standing, then tyre age, then pit window, then live gap, then on-board graphic, then recent laptimes, then who has won on their birthday at the track, then some records that don't mean anything, then some more statistics that don't matter, and then back to time to leader... Too gimmicky.
On-track action should be the "graphic" for F1, not all of that nonsense.
2:52 YOU LEGEND!!!
Lastname vs Lastname
1:28 wrong name on the graphic? Shouldnt be "Ber" instead of "Vil"?
Yep, and Michael Schumacher was MSC, Ralf was RSC
Well tbh that mistake makes it more realistic considering FOM would probably so that.
@@Zekszojt that was before Ralf entered, so it was SCH
illdeletethis there are 2 SCHs on the tower?
Yeah, that one was totally off, but cool nonetheless.
Oh my goodness, the Heineken star is just brilliant xD
And "LASTNAME LASTNAME"
I saw it on the thumbnail, is it also in the video?
Croatiaboy11 Yes, in the clip with Senna 😁
@@kubahuk6098 oh great i missed THAT
@@croatiaboy11 Hahaha xD

Never cut the chicken, instead cut a turkey.

what? haaha
*IF* I was to do a "If Modern F1 Races Had Classic Graphics" video (which *MANY* of you have requested), would you like the footage to look vintage as if it was from that time period? Let me know by commentating yes or no below! 👍👎
Matt Amys vintage look would be awesome. When I hear that I think of the 2017 F1 cars having photos taken by the 100yr old camera. Looked awesome!
@@SCESG400 I loved those photos Joshua Paul did, absolutely stunning!
@pitspraat has made a video about that their most recent one if you would like some tips.
the late 90's-early 2000's ticker by the way
Ye
Really awesome work, although I think you should have differentiated the Schumacher brothers with 'MSC' and 'RSC'
Definitely noted for next time, all a big learning curve!
Yeah I thought the same thing, great video though
Also Montoya was MOY
@@vprakhov It's originally MON. It was 2005 when he changed it to MOY because there's another driver whose name is started with MON too (Tiago Monteiro)
@@mattamys it was SCH until Ralf entered, only then did it change to MSC
0:17 "Montoya is out of the motor race. We went car racing"
Berger = Vil gud vid tho
2:50 lastname lastname xD
How do you do this may I ask?
Simply amazing
2-3 days of researching, 2 days of recreating assets/ animating in After Effects, then edit it all together in Premiere Pro :)
Matt Amys
Would love if you have a template for these sort of graphics look awesome
0:10 look at that, finally ä on these graphics
2:05 it's so strange watching a car go full throttle through the pit lane
the car is so close to the ground too
When f1 was racing
And not for pussies ,
I hsve no respect for any rscer in f1 today
NoctuahVenVk The cars are faster these days btw
Did you just edit Senna's god lap before he took first place? HERESY!
You've earned a sub
Props to that edit 👏
You can tell the amount of effort that went in researching this
I would've loved to see Mika overtaking MSC while lapping Zonta but maybe for another volume
HOPE the FOM doesn't give you trouble with copyright though :s
Your quality of video's is better than most of what the official channel produces
You should work for them by now if you ask me.
And Hill finishes second, AGAIN. LOL
Lastname? You may have forgot to update that bit. Clever with the Heineken star. Keep them coming. Liberty media may offer you a job. Or sue for copyright infringement!🏎👍
That was on purpose!
@@mattamys Ok Matt. Don't quite follow though. Huge response to part 1. Best reaction have seen on youtube. Cool idea.
@@@the14thearlofgurney84 I cba to dig through online to find it, but toward the start of the season, Liberty Media made a mistake and had their graphic call someone "Lastname" during broadcast. If you even watched this season you would probably remember a blunder like that.
@@coolL9457 Cheers Leon. Doesn't ring a bell but that would explain it. Watch every race but must have blinked or something. Liberty are very slick so it would have stuck in my mind I reckon.
@@the14thearlofgurney84 ua-cam.com/video/dW2Q_ZtRkrI/v-deo.html Here's the actual video of Lastname Lastname.
my gramps was around to see Jim Clark go against Graham Hill. my dad's around to witness Senna vs Prost. my friends was around to witness Alonso vs Scumacher.
where were they at though when Lastname was against Lastname??
Produce a video with the crash between Prost and Senna at Suzuka in 1989 using the "FIA Under Investigation" message and the yellow flag animation!
Amazing simply amazing would love to see the 2008 Brazilian gp I know it's not that old as the others over here but it would be nice :)
Faiz The car guy No please not. The wounds are still too fresh!
Faiz The car guy Is that Glock?
1:16 I've seen that. *shivers*
Have you noticed that he said "david hill" instead of "Damon Hill"
2:55 OMG Lastname might be the most talented and legendary driver in F1. At least thirty consecutive years has he or she been dominating!
Video Idea
Now you should do modern f1 but with video filter and voice filters to make it so that its looks and sounds old
In All honesty who wouldn't want to see f1 rebroadcasting old races but remastered with new graphics like this and some new added post commentary and replay analysis
or
They could do a race highlight that is recorded with old equipment and just broadcast it as a joke or something (if there is some rich guy out there with too much money to spend pls consider making this happen
I also wonder if in the future they will do f1 classic edition where they bring back old cars but with toned down engine or added safety equipment who wouldn't want to see the mp4/4 but with modern manufactured parts like carbon fiber and modern tires and stuff
What jerk would thumbs down this?
Probably your "F1 was better in the days of screaming engines and people dying every other race! Now it has no soul!" types.
modern fans
@@ryanwhitlock7350
Wtf ?!
There is not only one Reason for someone who like the Old-Days-Racing to dislike this.
Your Comment make no sense.
I remember Montoya as MOY and Michael as MSC
And Ralph was RSC.
OMG the lastname bros!
Amazing work!
Velocidade alta vc por aqui
Nice to see LASTNAME and LASTNAME battling it out
Last name v last name made me laugh uncontrollably I wasn't expecting it😂😂
Says Berger but it’s Villeneuve 1:32
You should share this to Formula 1 and Liberty Media. Its really amazing :D
This is amazing! I could never make something like this but I’m pretty sure Berger didn’t have the initials VIL - during the Mansell clip ;), other than that this is incredible
Brilliant! Especially that pathetic Heineken star. Next time you may add cgi billboards with different “hammertime” slogans
In the fourth Clip (starting with Berger onboard) you put VIL on the left instead of BER. Not sure if intentional after that Lastname one😂
2:02
weren't there any speed limitations back then?
No speed limit back then in the pit lane
Back then you can blast through the pit lane no problem, even with all the crew standing out near the road
It's always fun too see how far safety has become
@@DrSabot-A hitting And chopping someone at 100-120mph is not that good to watch. Still, with the limiter, accidents still happens.
No there wasn't back then. The FIA introduced it I think in Imola 1994, or maybe Monaco 1994, one of those two races, I didn't remember exactly which.
oh my god Villeneuve great drive in 1981 Spain gp!
more! more! this is awesome!!
Actually in Jarama 1981 it was Villeneuve, Laffite and Watson the top 3
2:50 LastName vs. LastName 3:05 secs. difference. I remember that race!!!!
LastName won! I could bet on it.
little bit late to the video but holy fuck how nuts are those pit stops with no pit lane speed limit! who the fuck ever allowed that?! lmao
That penalty for Prost at 2:00 is a yoke! The Stewards back then were even dumber.
Volume 3 plz
The famous battle between Lastname and Lastname returned.
Lol, the classic race had a car sponsored by a computer company. I bought one of those classic compaqs in college. Back then, classic F1 cars looked like cigars with wheels and had no wings for downforce.
I’m so old 😂🤣😂🤣
Hi! You can watch F1 1999 Season with modern graphics and 25-points system on my channel🙂
The Montoya crash reminds me of Ocon crashing out Verstappen at Brazil. Although that was different cause Ocon was trying to unlap himself & Max didn't give any room for it, not a rear ender
Hi! You can watch F1 1999 Season with modern graphics and 25-points system on my channel🙂
A Verstappen being dangerous nothing has changed then
If only we could have a series of "If modern F1 races had Murray's commentary...." Imagine what he'd have been like at Silverstone last Sunday!
It's a bit strange to see the name verstappen in 11 the position
This is really satisfying I don’t know why 😂
1990 There's Vil instead of Ber :)
*MASTERPIECE!!. WHAT A WORK!*
1:42 scoreboard 20th, typical Grosjean and or Williams situation
In Mexico Gp 1990 there is a wrong name: VIL instead of BER
In 0:20, actually is MOY, not MON, for Montoya
It's MON, it went to MOY when Tiago Monteiro arrived
I waiting for part 3.
This part and first part are awesome!
2:50 Lastname And Lastname? XD
1:09 missed opportunity for giant Sonic
Liberty media should offer you a job!
Wrong abbreviation for Berger at 1:31 but great video
I love all of the minuscule details you’ve added! That’s a lot of work!
Please do a template from these graphics
LooooooL is this interlagos? ( The first )
Jos crashstappen
Karma for max - Brazil 2018 😂 😂
Sonny McGreevy
Could Max change anything about what Jos did? 🤔😂
Nice to hear Murray Walker again. George Lucas missed a trick in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, should of had Murray commentate on the pod race.
2005 US Grand Prix:
**Tyre Performance Graphic with 0% for all Michelin tyres**
The fact Kimi is still racing...
2:33 karma
I have a question. How did you do rhese graphics? I need ro do these. Please answer
I recreated them in After Effects
1:59 it looks like he was going back
I really miss Senna
3 sch 16 sch why not msc and rsc
I say it again: We need tutorials to do those impressives graphics please!!! ;)
Was that star real? 1:18
A couple of mistakes. During the Donnington 93 footage you have got Karl Wendingler as WED rather than WEN. Also who is VIL for the Mexico 1990 footage? Surely that BER for Berger? Also you have done Angelis when his full surname is De Angelis. Really good work otherwise :)
2:53 hahaha lastname vs lastname 😂
While “SCH” would normally be correct, I think it’s more correct to use “MSC” and “RSC” for Michael and Ralf Schumacher, as these were the initials used at the time they were racing
1:53 Grosjean in 2019 Hass?
How did you make this
Can you send me the Graphics?
What an amazing work! Greetings from Brazil!
Jos Verstappen's 3 letter abbreviation was "DUM" - for a dumb move on Montoya lol :-)
3:00 last name last name
