Funnily enough I was working down in Jersey in 1991 , R.E.M Out Of Time was never out the tape recorder , still takes me back there everytime I play it ,, Raffles , First Tower ,,,Half A World Away
Hi Richard!!! cool list and suprise to see Queen's "Hot Space" here, it has a couple of hood songs but not their best album. Had no idea that Bowie album was a covers one!!! I also like very much Police "Regatta...". cheers and be well
Hi Richard! I love your shirt! Interesting choice for Queen. I was surprised to see a country album in your video Richard. I am perfectly find with Carlene Carter and that's a good album. "Shake it up" is a fun one. They are local heroes in the Boston area. Immediately after I did my video response, I thought of The Police. It's a tough list to make as It just depends on the mood of the day. ✌
Hi Mike, there are a couple of us over here that really appreciate Hot Space so I am not alone lol. I have all (I think) of Carlene Carter's albums. I just wish this one would get a vinyl release. I've been pondering over doing this video for a week or so as I really didn't know where to start.
Hello, I'm catching up on watching your videos. I have quite a few to go through, I am interested to see more. I just need to make the time, as I can be quite busy. Interesting list, I'll need to sample most of those.
Hi Richard ..Shake It Up is a brilliant album ..I love both it & Panorama & most people skip ftom the first two to Heartbeat City & miss out on great gems.
I like your choices. My list : Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon Supertramp - Crime of the century Steely Dan - Can´t buy a thrill The Smiths - The Queen is dead The Waterboys - This is the Sea Pavlov´s Dog - Pampered Menial Smashing Pumpkins - Adore Jethro Tull - Songs from the Wood Television - Marquee Moon Neutral Milk Hotel - In the aeroplane over the sea Pixies - Doolittle Sufjan Stevens - Illinois Pink Floyd - The Wall Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms Gang of Four - Entertainment!
I was hoping you would show Abbey Road, it’s my all-time favourite album. I listened the ABBA Voyage album at my Grandma’s house and really liked it, I need to give it another listen. The Police are awesome, my favourite album of theirs is the debut. All great choices Richard!
Great list Richard. I grew up with Beatles Blue comp so the later period was my introduction to the Beatles. As I've got older Rubber Soul & Revolver have become much more listened to. Nick Lowe is brilliant. There had to be T Rex & Bowie! I would've been worried otherwise. The Cars are so easy to love and a great go to. This was a fantastically eclectic list, even with Abba 😂Cheers...Ben
The opposite ends; Reggatta De Blanc is my fave Police album and Nick the Knife is (maybe)my least fave Nick Lowe album. I was just recently at a record store where some guy was contemplating buying Pin Ups. (he did). Carlene Carter was definitely a surprise. I don't know much about her records, i only have two from her. I enjoy them. Pasi
I got that new Abba album for Christmas when it came out. I played it once on Christmas afternoon and not once again since then. Technically I could put it on a list called The 10 albums I listen to the least. LOL If there is a David Bowie album I've played the most then it must surely be Never Let Me Down. I kept playing it in the hope it would get better.
Some good one's there Richard. I knew ABBA would be in there somewhere. Keep An Eye On Dan was a favourite from first listen of Voyage. It'll be interesting what will happen next year with the 50th anniversary of Waterloo winning Eurovision.
Great to hear from you Sara. How awesome would it be if the four were on stage even just miming to Waterloo? I don't think Benny would ever let it happen though.
Some good spins you've got here love side 2 of shake it up by the cars especially a dream away and it must be love it's dark and moody and some of the car's best album cuts and same with hot space which I enjoy to by the ways and I don't mind side 1 and every major band at the time flirted with dance rock or new wave at the same time and side 2 is more traditional queen all together it's a fun 80s party record
@@CookieMusic43 it's a good fun album staying power and dancer are fun songs and dancer reminds of another artist I love Billy Squier who at the same time was working with Mack on his 1981 album don't say no and his 1982 follow up emotions in motion which both had John deacon and Roger Taylor guesting on the title track emotions in motion Billy Squier became such friends with queen that Brian may guested on his 1984 follow up signs of life and Freddie was guest vocalist on his 1986 release enough is enough check these albums out
That very a marvelous segway into Nick Lowe 😂. Abbey Road is my favourite Beatles album, it really is a masterpiece. I thought you might go Tanx 😁 The Cars is an interesting one and as you say not really a bad track. I thought Wetleg may make an appearance, but of course Agnetha, Freda and the boys were a must. That’s interesting Richard, as you know my wife loves Bowie and her most listen to Bowie is…….Pin Ups! Great picks Richard. Mike
Nice selection Richard, i was wondering which Bowie album you were going to choose and it made me want to discover that Pin Ups as i never really gave it too much thought. And i think because it's a covers album, it's an 'easy listening' even for those who are not hard core fan of Bowie and its universe.
Some of his versions are much better than the originals in my opinion. The slowed down version of I Can't Explain really does trump The Who's original.
Um, have to disagree with the Jim Reeves album. Memories as a kid of many great Xmas's threatened by the annual appearance of that album! Scarred for life, haha! Toss up on the Police album too. Although Regatta may be the better album, I usually go for Zenyatta, as that was the first Police album I knew. It has a place in my heart, as I got it for Xmas that year on cassette along with Supertrouper and Vienna, having saved up through the year for a cassette player. Needless to say, had to wait the next day to play, as wasn't able to displace Jim Reeves!
You are the only Queen fan who listens to Hot Space. Ha ha, just joking! Beatles for the win! I love Bowie also, and have all of his albums, but I need to listen to Pin Ups more.
I think one of the reasons why I like Pin-Ups so much is that it's Bowie's versions of the songs that I heard first, maybe with the exception of Anyhow, Anyway, Anywhere. His version of I Can't Explain is as different to the Who's in the same way his version of Across The Universe is completely different to The Beatles.
Funnily enough I was working down in Jersey in 1991 , R.E.M Out Of Time was never out the tape recorder , still takes me back there everytime I play it ,, Raffles , First Tower ,,,Half A World Away
My favourite track from Out of Time is Me in Honey

Thanks Cristian.
I ❤ Queen's "Las palabras de amor“
Me too!

Enjoyed this Richard. To be honest I wouldn't have a clue where to start with this
Not the easiest thread in the world to do, Tone
Great choices sir - I enjoyed your video. New subscriber here take care cheers.
Thanks!
Hi Richard ..Shake It Up is a brilliant album ..I love both it & Panorama & most people skip ftom the first two to Heartbeat City & miss out on great gems.
I totally agree David. Panorama is also a five star album for me.
I like your choices. My list :
Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon
Supertramp - Crime of the century
Steely Dan - Can´t buy a thrill
The Smiths - The Queen is dead
The Waterboys - This is the Sea
Pavlov´s Dog - Pampered Menial
Smashing Pumpkins - Adore
Jethro Tull - Songs from the Wood
Television - Marquee Moon
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the aeroplane over the sea
Pixies - Doolittle
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
Gang of Four - Entertainment!
Some really good titles in your list

Thanks Ben, I more than delighted Abba didn't spoil the list for you. Maybe there IS hope after all... lol
Abbey Road, my second favorite album ever and my favorite Beatles album. Nick Lowe, I'm hoping to see him this Fall. Nice picks Richard!
Nick is great live Sam. Hope you get going.

I think those first three Police albums are amazing. I'm not as keen on Ghost & Synchronicity
Yay! Been waiting for this one. Solid list, Richard.
Cheers Jeff!

You'll be playing NLMD a lot more in the future then John lol

@CookieMusic43 Benny is adamant it's not going to happen. We never thought we'd get any new music from them and we got a whole new album.

Thanks Mike, the segue was not even intentional believe it or not. I honestly haven't played the Wet Leg album after the first few weeks of buying it.
Hi Richard, Tanx is also my favourite T Rex. Nice Whistle Test t shirt. Cheers Mike
Good stuff Mike, great to hear that somebody else prefers it to Electric Warrior or The Slider

Some very good choices and a couple of odd balls.

Hi Richard I knew you show regatta de blanc! Great response 👍👍👍. The police for the win😊
Cheers Rob, as I have always said, those first 3 Police albums are on a different level to their next two.

That Congregation LP, nowhere to be found... (new, vinyl or cd) 😪
I have an Australian CD which features their 2 albums on one disc.I have no idea if it still available.

I see Nick Lowe is playing in bangor this month👍👍
I wasn't aware. I saw him in 2012 so I'm ok with that.
