This is my 2nd Keurig coffee maker of this model. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first worked fine for more than 2 years, and I could still get a decent cup of coffee out of it if I fiddled with it when I decided to replace it. The problem I had with my first unit was this: When attempting to brew a cup of coffee, the unit would either keep brewing until the coffee was undrinkable or it would not run long enough and the coffee produced was way too strong. I cleaned the unit as best I could but it did not help. So in the end it was just too much trouble to get a good cup of coffee out of it, so I decided to replace it with a new one, which has been working great since I unpacked it.
condensed version .... remove top , clip off tie wraps and remove check valve and associated tubing. remove small screws. the whole assembly uses plyable phar-med tubing so can be completely disassembled and cleaned. reassemble. take pics with your phone so you know how it goes. Done.
OH man! you are a savior! i searched everywhere and didn't solve my problem and i didn't know what the problem was. Tried poking into the needle, opened the whole thing up and got more confused. you pointed out exactly the part with the issue. mine is a bit different model looking somewhat different but that was exactly the issue and it is solved now!!! Saved me the money for a whole new coffee machine because it works perfectly now. Thank you!!!! :D
Thank you for taking the time to make this.....it isn't easy making a video.....you didn't have to....you are trying to be helpful....and that is appreciated!
Nice to see their are still people around who have the incline to fix something ,instead of just throwing it out and purchasing a new one .Peoole now a days seem to have lost that ability or simply got lazy.Nicce DYI video.👍🏻
Thank you. So proud of myself my husband was working late and I went all day with out coffee .then I looked it up. how to fix my coffee pot and thanks to all videos. I fixed it thank you .thank you all
Tried cleaning everything with paper clips etc, and still did not work. Was about to take it out to the trash until I saw your video. Simple fix and now it works perfectly ! (I did not need to take the valve assembly apart) Well worth the time to watch it.
Thank you for showing the insides of the Keurig. I was hesitant about poking things up the hose because I was concerned that I might poke a hole in the hose. Your video gave me the insight I needed to repair my coffee maker as the check valve was clogged by a piece of sediment.
Thanks for the video. It was a bit long to get to the point, but point made. I was able to get to the one way valve by sliding off the silicone tube off the back end (leaving the zip tie in place). I couldn't blow the one way valve free so I use a chopstick and poked at it. That worked. When reinstalling the rubber tube I slid the zip tie on the tube, slid the tube back on the valve stem, and nudge the zip tie back over both the tube and stem. Being the silicone tube is soft, it wasn't that difficult.
It worked!!!! I put vinegar and warm water in the canister to descale it because coffee was just trickling out. Then it wouldn’t Dispense water at all and I panicked! I took the seal off and a sewing needle to it and voila! Thank you!
Thank you for the tip!! I checked the one way valve on my Keurig and sure enough it was stuck closed. I freed the valve and now I'm up and brewing!! Thanks again!!
Thanks, just was given this model from a friend and it needs descaling so I am glad that you made this video just in case my descaling doesn't work then I know what a need to do next. Thanks
Thank you for sharing how you fixed it. I’m having trouble with mine after having it for 3 yrs. all the other fixes not working. I’m desperate so I’m going to take it apart are try what you did.
An even easier way to do this is to take the unit to a gas station and used compressed air at the water intake to blow and unclog everything. You may need to put your finger over the overflow. It worked for me with nothing to take apart.
I have the mini plus, not sure how to get to that one way valve. It does not have the screws on the top sectionbut I think it's designed to snap together with clips. Did do the decaying and that helped.
I couldn't get the screws loose. Fired up the air compressor and blew air thru it backwards. INSTANT FIX WITHOUT TEARING IT APART. Then ran several cycles of vinegar thru it.
Thanks, your post gave me a great idea. Instead of applying compressed air to the valve backwards, I applied a slight vacuum to the valve FORWARDS. I did this by attaching a small hose to the needle in the top of the brewer, and using my handy Mityvac vacuum tool to generate a vacuum through the needle into the valve. This instantly fixed the problem. My Keurig had been sitting unused for a while, and it appears the check valve was stuck closed, not allowing any hot water to flow into the brew basket. Applying a little vacuum to the valve in the forward direction caused the stuck rubber seal to pop free and fixed the issue. I completed the fix by running several cycles of vinegar through the machine.
I can't believe how horrible people are, when you are just trying to help them. Anyway I was just wondering what kind of special, I think Allen wrench it is, that you can get the handle off with? I want to go to ace hardware and get a small set, but I don't even know what they are called.
I'm just not getting the same full cup of coffee on my office Keurig, as our breakroom Keurig. I've descaled and done the needle trick. but I'm wondering if the check valve is the culprit.
This guy does not make videos for a living, people need to cut him some freakin slack. Yeah, his camera work is a bit shaky and he could have said what he needed to say in fewer words, but so what? Chill out if you don't approve of his handiwork. The bottom line is, the CONTENT of this video is extremely useful to those who might be struggling to fix their Keurig and THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS, that people found what he had to say is USEFUL. I find it interesting that many of the people who are piling on Mr. Schenkel do not even have a single video of their own posted. Really?? Sounds like some wastes of semen that have crawled outta Momma's basement and are dying for acceptance by the loser mob, so they pile on and bash this poor guy. Kudos to Mr. Schenkel for being kind enough to share what he learned so that others can fix their machines.
Thanks for the useful tip and it also helped me to fix my keurig problem. Don't worry about the typical whiners and complainers. That's all they do even though they can't even contribute a squat. Thanks again.
Thanks for the video, ill be cleaning my check valve when i (get too/feel like it), for now ill just lift my lid up 50 times to get a cup of coffee until i cant handle it anymore.. ignore the haters enjoy the lovers.
" Dont touch this.. is has electricity " umm.. Unplug it. First rule of cleaning anything with water AND electricity.. UNPLUG it. snortles. Thank you for your help.
No! and make sure your hands are very wet and your standing in the bathtub full of water on a lanline in a thunderstorm listening to your home stereo at full volume with your 12 inch woofers facing the bathtub... .....
Hi....when you blow through the one way valve, the end that you can blow through should be very easy to bliw through with no resistance, correct? When I blow through, I can blow through, but with resistance. It's not like I'm blowing through a straw. Sorry for the silly question, but I'm very new at fixing things.
Thanks for making the video. That said, safety should always come first, so the unit should definitely have been unplugged prior to opening it up. Once you noticed it was still plugged in, that was the time to say so and unplug it so others do not think it must be plugged in, while attempting the repair.
Water won’t come out to fill tank !! I cleaned everything even took hose off one valve off and still no water from valve!! Like if it has no water on tank but it’s full! Any help here!!
My name is trucker Mike 26 can you reply reference to the Keurig I have one that's a model 55 I'm having problems I took the top off I did everything and it's still going back into the airport
I really need help with mines please I don't want to toss it even if it's off it's like it's on and brews water but it doesn't want to get back to normal
777 prp ehhh rewatch the video. You clean the one way backflow valve and lube it up as it gets stuck shut. He didn’t mean well, he told us exactly what he did to fix it. Not his fault if you’re not following along
My boyfriend, after growing frustrated with this not working, thought perhaps he misunderstood & decided blowing on the back tube just in case, resulting in scalding water flushing back into his mouth with caused severe burns on his lips, tounge and inner mouth. Has anybody else had this issue? Or more importantly, PLEASE be aware of this issue so that this doesn't happen to somebody else! By the way it still doesn't work so doing this didn't even help! PLEASE DONT DO THIS!!!
this is what i did , i took a little ball pump the one with air needle to pump your basket balls take off needle , unplug keurig ,put some water half full , plug the little clear over flow on top so no air escapes, put your ball pump in the water container so it covers the hole and punp till you see a steady flow of water coming out of top where your coffee comes out , I didtn 't have a air compressor, my keurig 5 years old , hopes this mite help
Then read the manual dipshit I mean gezz what the hell is wrong with you people. He did it his way if you dont like it move on and keep your ignorance to yourself
don't bother. this method does not work, and is a waste of time. When it clogs, throw it away. Coffee makers are not made to last more than a couple of months, so don't expect anything beyond that. I buy my coffee makers in bulk and throw mine away every month or two and put out the new one.
Complete and utter bullshit. While there are easier ways to unclog the check valve, the method outlined here works. No need to replace the coffee maker, unless you lack the cognitive abilities to implement a simple fix.

I just threw out my second Kerig machine and bought a cheap off brand. I did the clip trick, bought the cleaning crap to descale...in the trash.
Halfway though the video. Running to Starbucks to get a cup, be back in 5 minutes.
Thank you! I did this and am back in business. Don't mind the negative ungrateful jerks, your video was just fine and thanks for making it :)
Very helpful thanks for sharing your video with us now my coffee is flowing like it should so once again everyone around me is safe again..
Thank you for sharing how you fixed it. I’m having trouble with mine after having it for 3 yrs. all the other fixes not working. I’m desperate so I’m going to take it apart are try what you did.

Mine had a lime build up in the one way valve i used vinegar and baking soda so clear it out as well as blowing in it
Good video, Thanks for sharing. Now I know how to open and fix my Keurig
Nice! After trying all the other ways to fix it. It only took a paperclip. Thanks for sharing.
this is awesome. Now I cannot wait until my husband comes home with a screwdriver to help me take apart our poor Keurig.
I couldn't get the screws loose. Fired up the air compressor and blew air thru it backwards. INSTANT FIX WITHOUT TEARING IT APART. Then ran several cycles of vinegar thru it.

Thanks for the video.I followed your instructions and I can now enjoy my cup(s) of Joe again!
Ur smile at the end was the best
You spent 8 floggin' minutes to say that you cleaned the valve at the top of the machine.
Bless you sir.
If you know it why you don't do it and save time with that comment
You are a smart ass
If we want his story and insight we have to appreciate the suffering he went through 😄
Thx for heads up. You just saved me the 8 minutes! I’ve already seen vids on that. Cheers
Thanks for the useful tip and it also helped me to fix my keurig problem. Don't worry about the typical whiners and complainers. That's all they do even though they can't even contribute a squat. Thanks again.
Yeah you took too much time to get to the point, but thank you very much this solved my problem!
Thanks for the video, ill be cleaning my check valve when i (get too/feel like it), for now ill just lift my lid up 50 times to get a cup of coffee until i cant handle it anymore..
ignore the haters enjoy the lovers.
IGNORE THE IGNORANTS
Thank you so much your video did the trick I have my coffee now
Avoid using vaseline on flexible plastics and especially on any kind of rubber. It will degrade the rubber/plastic.
If the paper clip doesn’t work use some duct tape. If that doesn’t work use a shoe lace. If all else fails use the keurig for target practice.
Lengthy video but it did the trick! Thanks!
When they tell you, "oh yes it works fiiiine, it's yours for $2.00" 🤣🙏🏼 #verylowexpectations #nowayinhellitstillworks
" Dont touch this.. is has electricity " umm.. Unplug it. First rule of cleaning anything with water AND electricity.. UNPLUG it. snortles. Thank you for your help.
Thank you it worked great.
Shouldn’t you unplug it before taking it apart?
No! and make sure your hands are very wet and your standing in the bathtub full of water on a lanline in a thunderstorm listening to your home stereo at full volume with your 12 inch woofers facing the bathtub...

Was the heater connection on top 120 V AC and not covered ? Yes do not take apart with it plugged in!
He spends 8 minutes telling you how he took it apart but never tells you how he cleaned it. OMG I could just poke my eyes out! Meandering...
.....Poke your eyes out... you dont have eyes ...or ears. He said take top off, take check valve off tubes, clean check valve... (he even put vaseline
Water won’t come out to fill tank !! I cleaned everything even took hose off one valve off and still no water from valve!! Like if it has no water on tank but it’s full! Any help here!!

lol
is there any way to increase the temperature of the water making coffee. It seems like it is just luke warm upon brewing
Some of the Keurigs have a water temperature setting in the menu

Very shaky video, I could not watch it till the end. I was getting motion sickness. Good info...just hard to watch.
So WHAT did you do exactly? It sure wasn’t clear to me. I know you meant well
777 prp ehhh rewatch the video. You clean the one way backflow valve and lube it up as it gets stuck shut. He didn’t mean well, he told us exactly what he did to fix it. Not his fault if you’re not following along
I just got the same deal..but for 5.00. 😡
Ugh....get on with it. Fell asleep...had to watch part of it again.
Too verbose!!! Get to the point before I fall asleep.
My thoughts exactly. Just say wtf you did man!

You take way to long to explain and talk about stuff that’s not relevant

Still haven't got to the explanation..Jesus man just talking to talk
Man, you talk too much just to get to a simple point! Literally.
