That would have been interesting. I love these two characters! I felt like they were very much there for Rory in a way that could have been explored more. Also, I read a theory that the "HAVE WE MET YET?" is a running inside joke Finn is establishing like negging or a test to see how well she takes his sense of humour.
I think Colin's noticing of Rory's emotions/ or silence, to me speaks also to hyper vigilance. Understanding the change in tone in the words not spoken is also indicative that maybe he had to do that at home all the time too. And perhaps that quick jump to cruelty that we see with Marty is something thats a learned behavior too? Or if it's just Marty maybe something about him reminds him of someone he also dislike...like a parent?
Love this comment! That is such an interesting observation! I could see that, and it would make sense within my head canon. It would make sense that Colin is quick to pick up on the fact that Rory and Logan are fighting because he has been exposed to relationship fights growing up and so he is astutely aware of them and notices them quickly.
Collin and Finn know their lives are planned out. Finn is rich and depressed. That’s why he takes such big risks. Collin takes digs at Marty because he jealous. He feels Marty is too beneath him so instead of jealously. We see Collin the jerk. Louise and Madeline were girls breed for men like those guys. Louise would date Fin. Her sex appeal will keep him present enough. While allowing him to still live in his fantasy of being indestructible. Madeline would be with Collin. She wouldn’t be offend by his rude behavior like she doesn’t notice Paris. He will have plenty of money for her to spend. Perfect match
Yass! I have been saying that forever 😂 both Louise and Madeline would be great with Finn and Colin because they are the male equivalent of them or because they fit one another in those ways. Perfectly said 👍🏻
I'm good friends with Alan Loayza the actor who plays Colin & honestly he is so beyond underfated as an actor and is a FANTASTIC human irl. He deserves so much success and a much bigger platform. I'm SO happy more people are acknowledging just how talented and generous of a performer he is!
I love this comment so much. Alan Loayza did a fantastic job in that role. I think he played the dry humor really well. I'm also really happy that we got to see his dramatic side when his character had to put on a performance in the Yale classroom. To me, it was clear that he has a huge range as an actor, even though we don't get to see all of it in his role as Colin.
😄That just feels like the most logical conclusion. Here is this beautiful woman from the Netherlands, who allegedly doesn't speak English, who is desperately clinging to Colin, a guy who we see often strike out with women. It makes me want to build a backstory for her.
I wholeheartedly agree, as someone who married into a Dutch family, English is taught as a subject in school and no Dutch person I’ve met can’t speak English. She’s totally trolling.
Thank you! Finn was really fun, I wasn't going to make a video on them but I kept getting distracted by Finn when I was trying to do a video on another topic. I have so many unfinished projects because of this problem, I keep finding characters along the way.
“I’m not saying that Colin is a baby monkey” LMAO. another banger video, I love that exploring of the pairings between them and Madeline and Louise. they would all be hilarious in a scene together
i always thought finn liked Rory hence him pretending he didnt notice her.. but he stepped off since she was his Friends girl but Finn and Rory had a special bond out of all Logans friends.
they were definitely close, I don't think it was necessarily romantic but it was an important relationship and definitely deserved to be better developed. honestly Rory should have had more friends on the show, she had so many love interests and like barely two friends ya know? imo tho, Rory just isn't a very interesting mc
I think Colin’s direct disrespect and blatantly unkindness to Marty has nothing to do with any bad blood, but more so he does this because he is incredibly insecure among his group of friends. All of them have wealth & love to party. Logan is incredibly charming & Finn is charismatic, if push came to shove the others could survive on other characteristics but Colin doesn’t bring anything new so he wants to pretend he belongs by being the “fun” prank guy. Marty is an easy target to bully based on classism .
Collin may also be like Sirius Black from HP; Sirius also had a HORRIBLE home life (for entirely different reasons, grated), but Sirius also came from a pretty wealthy family, BUT liked to spend more time @ school & with his BF, James, @ his house, over the summers than with his own family. It's actually VERY sad . . . Also Harry Potter (although I admit Harry's situation is another case entirely, too), as well . . . 🤔
As a Dutch person, trust me, most (if not all) people speak some sort of English. Elderly are a bit less experienced with it but even most of them can get their point across in English. Especially younger people here speak good English and we even are the best speaking European English country!
I would have enjoyed LOVED to see Logan, Colin and Finn spinoff or special and show them in their younger years before Yale. Maybe their boarding school days
I personally always thought Finn had alcohol problems. I genuinely think he forgot meeting Rory every time because he'd had *that* much alcohol and blacking out/severe memory issues is a key indicator of being an alcoholic. Plus, almost every time he met Rory before that point he was holding a drink or drunk.
But why couldn’t Colin and Finn be together? They read as 2 people in denial of their own sexuality. This was a show where clearly coded gay characters couldn’t be called gay until the reboot that we do not talk of. They try so hard with the ladies, because they are ether gay or bi and haven’t faced it, or inlove with each other regardless. I’m all for men being more gentle with each other with out it meaning ‘gay’.. but look at every single scene - they are touching, both choosing connection with the other. It’s more intimate. I read it as gay-bi in denial coded from the first watch through as a teen myself when it first aired.
And they seemed completely comfortable with the idea of pretending to be a gay couple who adopts Logan in order to get family access at the hospital, even if it was a joke. Plus they also added in a line that said they knew about the plight of gay couples when it comes to adopting children. Idk, but I def think that they seem to be the type of friends to have a marriage pact where by a specific age if they are not married, they'd be absolutely fine being with each other.
Because people making shows back then did not have the woke alphabet agenda. There is such thing like male friendship, not all male friends are gay. 🤦♀️
I definitely think it could go either way. or maybe they are both queer but not into each other, I prefer that interpretation that one or both of them are queer but they are just friends even so
Ty for highlighting that the Dutch girl not speaking English is weird. English has been a mandatory subject at middle and high school for over 25 years, probably much longer. With our big port en international relations, it really is a requirement.
I've been waiting for someone from the Netherlands to add their take on this! Thank you! I was so confused by that scene. It almost feels like they purposefully picked the country that is the most fluent to make the situation more absurd. This is why I started to think that the girl was trolling.
@@PensiveWhiskers ah ty for your reply. I'm not sure if she was trolling but I have always felt weird with that scene and ignored that they said she is from the Netherlands. I think that would be my order too. Madeline and Louise, then Colin and Finn. Although I also really like Miss Patty and Babette. I think they are tied for second for me, primarily because Miss Patty and Babette also operate well as solo characters and they are not always a duo.
Colin and Finn made Logan more interesting and deserved more screen time. they were interesting backdrops that should have become full characters, and I think they could have really brought some dynamics to the way Rory acknowledges wealth and struggle if they were more developed? I also think it would have been interesting if they (c&f) had gone to stars hollow, I think seeing them interacting with the town would have been really funny. if the show wanted to explore more class dynamics (they didn't but still) I think Colin and Lane would have been a really interesting couple to watch, idk if it's long-term but definitely worth thinking about imo. but also I just think Lane deserved so much better
