    The Renaultsport section of the company keeps impressing all of us each time with their work. They are just great!
    I am also very pleased to see that the old reliability problems in the electrics during the 80s have been reduced dramatically.
    I own a megane Coupe since 2001, driven every day 50km, with no problems so far.

    I own a RS250 Cup, didnt think much of it at first and was thinking about a couple other cars to buy at the time. I test drove one and literally bought it 2 days later. Amazing car.

    This car is just spectacular. It looks beautiful, performs great, and you're not breaking the bank. I wish they were sold here in the US but unfortunately they aren't. Thankfully I have a nice sim wheel and Forza 4 on the XBox 360 to play around with, and I have to say it drives amazingly.

    Bought a new 2014 A45 & recently sold it because servicing was too expensive. Saw a 2012 Megane RS265 RB7 at a car yard, test drove it for a laugh, bought it immediately. Obviously not as quick as the A45, but much more fun to drive, way more engaging.

    • @toose70
      @toose70 2 роки тому

      @@Paul-mq5yn yeah mate, still got it, it’s been great apart from a couple of issues. 1. The internal door handles issue which all owners know about. Ie don’t ever use them, if you do, it’s only a matter of time they will come off lol. You wind the window down and grab the top of the door to close it. 2. I have also had an issue with the AC, it doesn’t work any more, I think it’s the AC compressor failed. It’s not cheap to fix either. I haven’t bothered to get it fixed yet.

    It does really help on braking and accelerating. You can brake later into the corner and brake hard with steering turned without losing stability. And accelerating out of the corner won't cause the inside wheel to spin as much, because of difference dampers and spring, not as much weight will be transferred from front wheels to rear wheels. Normal Laguna 2.0 dci with 180hp has no problem spinning wheels in 60-70 km/h corners, even in 3rd gear, but the one with 4control just has so much grip.

  • @derbigpr500
    @derbigpr500 12 років тому +1

    Well, BMW 1M was developed on Nurburgring, and driven by BMW's test driver. Megane Trophy was not developed on Nurburgring, and was also driven by Renaults test driver. So I guess its safe to say they're both in same conditions.
    Megane Trophy actually produces more HP than 265, its around 300 actually on dyno, same as normal RS produces 275 instead of 250. Also, dont forget that people who work in Renault Sport are those who dominated Formula 1 when they took it seriously.

  • @derbigpr500
    @derbigpr500 12 років тому

    Also, imagine if Renault fitted the Megane RS with 4-wheel steering system that they put on Laguna GT. I don't know if any of you drove the Laguna GT, but that car goes around corners insanely fast. Its a 1,7ton family car or wagon, but that thing feels as light and agile as Clio. The speeds it carries trough corners without ANY drama whatsoever is amazing. It would leave any car in class in dust around twisty roads. Its got SOOOO much grip and never understeers or oversteers.

    The best thing about this car is, you can get the normal RS which handles as good if not better on the roads that aren't perfectly flat like race tracks. Also, normal RS produces 275hp on dyno, its more comfortable, refined, its better equipped, has sat-nav, xenon lights, leather electric heated seats, dual zone climate, etc. Normal RS feels very expensive inside as well, its got great quality materials in interior, great fit and finish. And as usual Megane, has room for 4 adults and big boot.

    It's a shame cars like this, the VW Scirocco, Vauxhall Asta, etc don't make it here to the US... The closest we get are the Focus ST, Mazdaspeed 3, VW GTI, and Veloster Turbo. I'd love more competition in this segment, and the Megane RS seems like a kickass car.

  • @derbigpr500

    Yea, true that having a lively car is more fun. But 4Control would make it much faster around track and would enable the overall suspension setup to be softer. You would not need stiff springs in rear to make the car oversteery. I'm also sure that 4control could be set up in a way where it would allow for rear end to step out too. :P

    You're talking about megane of laguna? Laguna GT 2.0 DCI actually weighs between 1610 and 1620kg without a driver (depending on equipment), so that's 1700 with one. :P
    I'm really surprised that Renault doesn't make a hot version of Laguna, or at least Laguna coupe. I mean, 2.0T with 205hp in the GT model is a good engine, but I'd like to see a V6 in it, Renault could use the engine from Nissan 370Z since they own Nissan. They used the engine from 350Z before.

    BUT despite the current economic crisis in the car industry in Europe, I'm very optimistic, because since last 15-20 years the French builders have decided to catch up & build again hight quality cars, the Premium like we say nowadays, which at the same prices & even cheaper approach more & more the Germans, believe me

    I can pick up a stock 250 for far cheaper than a CUP version here in my country... because the CUP adds all the luxuries of the 250 unlike the UK where it's a stripped back version. Point is, if adding (a) H&R springs, (b) Koni Sports / Bilstein B8's and (c) Quaife LSD it would still work out to be a lot cheaper. Although no RS monitor. Wonder if the handling would be the exact same if adding these components vs the stock CUP chassis...

    Citroën is building a luxury brand: DS
    Renault revives its sports brand: ALPINE
    Peugeot also despite the crisis and its current financial problems, exploring the possibility of restarting a brand of prestige & luxury
    The French invented the luxury not only in clothing but also in cars, & if they finally decide to reconnect with their glorious past, they build as before, definitely the best cars: "Impossible is not French! "as Napoleon said ^^

    Also the category of mid size excutives was NEW invented by Rover and Triumph. BMW followed later with 5 series in this category.
    Renault was specialized in middle class cars and provided many hits. But it did not play in the league of luxury from the 60s and later.
    Renault tried some attempts during the last decades but always failed - Vel Satis was the last attempt if i am correct.
    Of course the hatchback style was a great innovation back in the 60s with the R16 if i remember correctly.

    Note that when speedometer (right one) needles is at 90 degrees pointing upwards, thats 150 km/h indicated. Look at which speeds he takes into the corners. Look with what ease and with how little steering input a 4,75 meter long, 1,7 ton heavy car turns into a corner at 150-160 km/h, without any drama, like on rail tracks. Its got so much grip and control, and its a big and heavy car, that is still one of the most comfortable in class. Imagine Megane RS with that.

    This is the problem with this car. It's just a hatch with power and good suspension, but why Renault doesn't dare to build a RWD car - that would be brilliant. Something like a Ford GT for 100k and something like a Lotus Evora for 30k. That's the problem.
    Of course the Le mans car is good V12 RWD all focused, the Dakar cars were overwhelming full of tech

    I think that E92 is a BTG time, not the full track. But ok, E92 probably would beat it, since it has much more power. But the point is, its faster than all the car in its segment. Faster than BMW 1M, Audi S3, Golf GTI, Golf R32, Focus RS500, Alfa Giulietta QV, Astra OPC, Civic Type-R, Mazda 3 Mazdaspeed, etc. The only hatchback in the world thats faster is Subaru Impreza WRX STI, and it has 50hp more, is lighter, has 4WD and semi-slick tires (like old R26 Megane had).

    In Malaysia this car is priced lower than a GT86. It is a great performance/ package bargain to that over hyped GT86. We want cars that are fast and beat the shit out of other similar cars. Not banking on some drifting status that most does not have a chance to do it anyway. Yes the drivers of GT86 are probably good RWD drivers. But c'mon, this car is faster and just as capable or more than a GT86.

      I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you on that. Yes, the renault Megane RS is faster in a straight line than the GT-86, but it's got some things the Megane doesn't; RWD, light chassis, barebone setup, perfect for any pure driving experience enthusiast. Bring both these cars to the track, give a proper driver the 86, and the result may surprise you.

    • @TheWretchedWorld
      @TheWretchedWorld 6 років тому

      Indianpeoplefacebook the Megane rs has been tested in many motoring comparisons against the 86 in Australia and is consistently faster on track. Winton which is a technical circuit (doesn't favour faster cars) the Megane is a consistent 3 to 4 seconds a lap quicker. They are both cars for enthusiasts it's just that people turn the Megane down because of its drivetrain layout. You really have to drive one to understand.

      Mate, when it comes to timed laps or traveling from point to point, Megane RS blows the doors off not just GT86/BRZ, but a lot faster machinery aswell.
      You can easily find footage of Megane RS catching up with M3’s and 911 gt3’s at nurburgring, so comparing it to a GT86/BRZ is not really a fair comparison.
      Of course GT86/BRZ are still brilliant cars with awesome set up and I am very happy myself that they have a place in todays market, and hopefully they will stay with us for long time.
      Its the driving pleasure they provide and they have to be respected for that.
      Its just that Megane RS is just a completly different machine, made track ready basicaly from the factory.

    You said what explains everything in last words LOL
    When will understand in the USA that Nissan is a part of Renault and UNDER RENAULT!!
    Why Renault would make very expensive investments to return to the USA with its modern cars while it is already leading with its under part Nissan!! ^_^

    After the WW2, a provision of the Treaty imposed at Germany not to build 1 airplane during 10 years
    Because that, all highly skilled engineers of the German aircraft industry were hired by VW, Mercedes, Audi & Porsche
