    I just love the way that UA-cam showed me an advert from a popular UK electronics store for a cheap bluetooth speaker before this video!

  • @gorgly123
    @gorgly123 6 років тому +2

    There are several features of the Bluetooth that are used for actual piloting operations. When paired to an iPad and an application like Foreflight and or a Stratus 2 ADSB device. Callouts when your are close to terrain, 500 feet when landing, approaching a runway while taxing, traffic advisories (ADSB), etc. Also, if you are at an airport that doesn't have clearance delivery you can call on your Mobile phone and talk to ATC with your Bose headset and not have to shut the engine off because you can't hear over the engine noise. Also, I have used it to call flight service inflight to change a destination airport when I couldn't contact via radio.

    • @Soordhin
      @Soordhin 6 років тому +1

      True, but those are mainly used in GA-Flying, for which this headset is of course designed. But in airline flying, especially in Europe you do not use those services. TCAS is build into the plane, some even follow the TCAS commands on autopilot. EGPWS for terrain avoidance and automatic height callouts is also a requirement and therefore part of the standard avionics package. Clearance comes usually via Datalink in textform, or via a special clearance delivery frequency. If we have to divert, we better tell ATC as soon as we know it, otherwise we get a visit from our military brethren with their very twitchy trigger fingers.

    Can you do a video where you show how to setup the headset and configure it in the actual flight deck before a flight?

    • @cintula82
      @cintula82 7 років тому

      I would be interested in the following in that video; as you mentioned in boeing it is connected to the plane via jack plugs. By this way i guess you can activate the mic by the intercom switch on the yoke? I mean you dont have to use a mic button on the remote (if there is any)

    • @beeblebug
      @beeblebug 6 років тому

      That is correct, once you are plugged in the microphone is technically "on" but only transmits the voice signal when you are pressing the PTT button on the Yoke.

    I recently bought a pair of noise cancelling headphones and as a passenger it has really changed my flight experience completely. One guy in a video I watched previously of buying it said that he'd rather fly economy with noise cancelling phones than business without them, I thought this was a crazy remark but now I totally understand his point!

  • @nathangray2825

    Does "X" airline not provide headsets or do you do other "leisure" flying?

    • @luca7069
      @luca7069 7 років тому +11

      Nathan Gray They do, but most of the time on the average airline the headsets provided are poor quality one, with no noise cancellation and very uncomfortable to wear on long flights. Also the airplane provided headset is used by all the pilots that fly on it, so it won't be the cleanest headset in the world. Is just better for comfort and convenience having your own quality headset

    Hi! I'm going to start flying for your airline soon. Looking at this video, I want to confirm something: do all the 737's require a dual plug? I have a Bose A20 with a 5-pin XLR connector, so I may need to buy and adaptor for it if that's the case. Hope you can help!

    • @fishhisy

Also, I got A masters degree in business Administration. Do u think all this will help in my interview ? I will really appreciate your quick replay and your opinion. Also, I have this feelings that how ever I am studying a lot of hours and hours. It's not going to be enough to pass my first interview. This not a self confidence problem and I saw your video about interviews and what to do but I need your opinion in my case. It just I feel that being a pilot is a never ending learning experience and it's just I don't how it will be my first interview and I don't want to fail because really aviation is my life and as I learned in my life that failure is a success that missing one step so I hope that u will help me out. Once again a very purposeful video not just because your talking about a headset of good quality, because this is an aspect which we as general the general public do not know much about. Again thanks for spending your time to create these videos and answering our questions. I have a question which is, as a pilot do you think that over time the aviation industry will grow or shrink? I’m late to the party here. Student pilots license means you’re signed off by an instructor to go solo basically. You don’t want to just have that, you want a PPL (private pilot’s license) which allows you to exerce pilot privileges like carrying passengers and fly freely in VFR conditions. After that you can get your instrument rating to fly in IFR (instrument) conditions such as clouds. CPL is commercial pilot’s license which means you’ll be able to get paid to fly. Hope that helped :)

    Lightspeed Zulu : Good alternative, third edition already, clean nice design, works perfectly.
    DC One-X : late comer on the market, very good altenative to A20 and LZ3, cheaper than A20, much. Good support and well known company.
