I think JoyBoy has returned more so symbolically than literally, or rather Luffy is the new JoyBoy not so much that the person who lived during the void century has literally returned
Yeah, the same way Shirahoshi is the new Poseidon. Which would be a good case because both Luffy and Joy Boy share the same goal to free Fishman Island
I don't know if someone has mentioned this, but i like how this whole deal of Joyboy and Luffy adds more to the identity theme of Wano which gets more and more important. -Yamato believing she's Oden -Sanji with his Germa powers awakening turning him into something he isn't -Zoro and his family which i'm sure we will get more of it after the war -Momo finding something important about himself in Oden's journal. -Hiyori and Denjiro pretending to be someone else for years -Now Luffy being Joyboy And i probably missed someone. We are all really shocked at this Luffy-Joyboy reveal but looking back it seems it's just following a common trend in Wano. Can't wait to see where all of this goes.
More than identity, I think the Wano arc is about awakening: - Law and Kidd showing for the first time their awakening; - Sanji awakening his Vinsmoke abilities; - Zoro awakening conqueror haki; - Momonosuke awakening to his responsability to save Wano, and in doing so sacrificing his youth to help Luffy; - Luffy awakening his devil fruit.
The narrator didn’t call it the “Luffy vs Kaido” fight, probably because over the course of that fight, it wasn’t just Luffy, it was also the minks, the 9 retainers, kid, law, zoro, momo and yamato
After reading your comment I went back read the chapter again and you are right. I didn't really even notice I guess I do forgot how many battles Kaido been fighting on that roof top.
This speaks to how powerful Kaido really is, he's been fighting 4 of the new generation, the Akazaya 9, beat Luffy, and then defeated him again (with outside interference) but still, makes you wonder who can beat him one on one.
I heard that best selling author and self proclaimed breast enthusiast, eiichiro oda, made a deal with Grammy nominated hit rapper and “let’s go’er”, dababy to be added to the hit manga one piece as the true antagonist
If Law does have the voice of all things I’d prefer him to have that over conquerors. Law doesn’t have the drive or ambition that others have really, and it’d be a fun little thing where kid has conquerors, law has the voice , and luffy has both
I think Law probably has some minor form due to the Ope Ope no Mi. He's got the soul/heart swap technique, which requires some perception of someone's "voice". Sorta like how Itadori can protect his soul from Mahito because he knows the boundary of his soul due to the presence of Sukuna.
The SFX in this chapter that shows Luffy's heart-beat is the thing that sounds to Zunesha as "Drums of liberation". This part is insane: those exact same SFX were used for the sounds of the drums going when Luffy was partying under the moon in Skypiea before he attacked Enel the next day and what's even crazier is that the silhouette of Sun God Nika and the Luffy partying/dancing stance that everyone compares the silhouette with was drawn in the same panel! Oda is INSANE!!
I see it being more like when Neo awakened to his power in the first Matrix movie. He'll still be Luffy, but having awakened his power will come with a new understanding and confidence of his abilities. Luffys voice having gone quiet and the drums of liberation signalling joyboy could be more of a metaphorical change in Luffy rather that literal, again, like it was for Neo
4:09 now I’m imagining at the end of One Piece we see Ussop with his kids or whatever and he’s telling the story and think their dad is just making it all up, and then we pan to see the Thousand Sunny coming by with the grown up Straw Hats calling to Ussop and his kids just get the “HUH?!?!l” face as he goes to greet them.
Usopp probably gonna die before one last betrayal during the final war. He's most likely the snake, the judad of Luffys crew. I hope to be wrong, I like your ending more.
@@siinxx7656 Nah I don't think Oda would repeat that storyline because it would kinda retroactively nullify everything Usopp learned from Water 7. Also repeating that narrative would probably be kinda boring/annoying for the audience.
@@frauleinzuckerguss1906 for me Ussop didn't pay / repent enough for what he did on water 7 the dude almost destroyed all the strawhat crew just for his own selfishness and he got away with it pretty easily for me, it would be good if Oda has another arc for Ussop where it shows that he trully regretted what he did
I love that idea. Then at the very end, he says HE was the one that becomes King of the Pirates and it's revealed it was him telling the tale the whole time.
The fact that Roger came to Laughtale too early implies that if he were to come at the right time he would have been able to become joyboy as well. Although it could also be that Roger would have been there with joyboy instead of becoming him.
When Brook died he became a skeleton. His fruit didn’t take affect until after he died. I think Luffy is experiencing something similar right now. He has unlocked more power by dying.
I have a theory that Shanks took the Gomu gomu no mi, and went to the island where he met Luffy and was there in order to find Ace and give him the fruit. I believe Roger thought his child would become Joyboy and Shanks probably thought the same thing. But then when Luffy ate the fruit and said the same words roger said he realised he would become Joyboy and it was worth him losing his arm to protect him.
@@goni2493 yeah but did shanks know about that? It is possible he knew already but it'd make sense why he'd bring the fruit to the bar and not keep it on his ship
@@goni2493 no. Ace found his devil fruit after he left luffy and dawn island in order to become the pirate king. He wanted to be the pirate king before Whitebeard.
When Kaido sees Luffy coming back, I hope to see he would finally do the Enel face. One last comedic facial expression before Luffy gives Kaido the whipping of a lifetime.
I think joy boy has something to do with inherited will. It might be a situation where luffy awakened his fruit in order to fulfill the will of joy boy, and in this instance is freedom or liberation of wano
I think there's always been something cause hints of luffy getting knocked out and kaido noticing that he was "looking" at him aggressively even while luffy being knocked out and stuff like that has been there , it really could go anywhere but there's been a build up
Man idk what it is about your videos but watching you talk about one piece while I eat breakfast hits differently you lift my spirits everyday man thank you 🙌
I think it would be silly as well. It works in other stories as its executed and set up for those particular stories. Luffy just needs to be Luffy man.
Well, to be fair, most of Luffy's gears are based on his inspirations and experiences. Gear Second was specifically made to combat CP9, hence why it made Luffy faster and hit harder than normal. Gear Third was based off the Giants like Dorry and Broggy. Allowing him to land bigger attacks on numerous opponents. Gear Fourth was designed to fight monsters and/or tougher opponents by utilizing advanced Haki along with the Gum Gum Fruit's elasticity. Gear Fifth could be something entirely different if JoyBoy himself is involved, sort of like an Avatar State type of power up. But we'll see.
Think about it.. this entire time, luffy has been getting stronger, faster, and HOTTER in every fight as the fight drags on. So when he is throwing 1000 punches, he is tapping into the logia manifestation aspect of the fruit unconsciously. That's why kaido was wondering where the culverins were coming from. They were manifesting!
Its weird normally I hate it when youtuber do those jokes like „the best thing in this chapter was kamamazu“ but when tekking does it it’s awesome I love every second of it, just a fantastic one piece tuber ❤️
Had this thought while watching Joyboy's theories review (which he also said something to this vein). What if the "Devil" inside the Gomu Gomu no mi is Joyboy and he can only be "reborn" when the power is awakened.
The Law and Momo hearing the absence of Luffy is sort of like when Kaido asked Luffy if he realised that BM was defeated. so Kaido could also possibly 'hear' BM, so just an assumption that big shot Conqueror users have a distinct 'voice' that others can pick up using some form of observation... maybe?
Most like just really skilled Observation Haki users. It’s similar to power levels in Dragon Ball if you’re familiar with that. If Ki (Haki in One Piece) is not sensible, it’s either: 1.) You’re suppressing it. 2.) Too far away. 3.) Dead/Knocked Out.
Well Enel was able to do it at an unprecedented level using his ability and "Mantra' which we later learned is observation Haki. Aisa could also do it, the little girl with no fighting ability whatsoever. Coby also heard "Voices dissapearing" at marineford and was told after the battle that it was Haki. Seems pretty clear that it's the same thing as "Sensing" someone. However "The voice of all things" seems to be something different. I think the only ones that have it are Roger/Oden/Luffy/Momo because they can hear things like sea kings and zunesha. Not just hear them, like hear their thoughts.
Personally I like this more than the theory of him having a whole new devil fruit, since that would undermine his creativity over the years, where something like this is a new thing not a sudden discovery that changes the past adventure too much.
personnally i was thinking like the contrary since like i don't think it would undermine his creativity but the opposite, since he founds ways to use his devil fruit like wrong but made strong attacks and shii idk if you got it since i'm bad at explaining but this is just my opinion lmao
I made a similar comment and I agree, I think the awakening just shaped, change, modify either his soul, way of thi nking , his aura idk (his voice) and now resembles that of Joyboy, but is still luffy.
Or maybe the awakening of devil fruits have unique "sounds" to them and what zunehsa's hearing is the same rythm she heard when Joyboy uses his awakening
@@gameswithzeta6779 I agree with this. I think it made him change metaphysically. Because that's what the devil fruits do.but the liberation part is probably just Luffy's actual spirit.
I've always been a fan of Luffy "taking inspiration" from the villains he defeats, like Bellamy. He doesn't copy them 100% but he definitely finds a way to use his devil fruit in a similar way. Which is why I love the idea of him "copying" Katakuri's devil fruit abilities after awakening.
I always enjoy listening to your discussion in the background while I do my hw. I have add so it's hard for me to focus without stimulation. This gives me something with minimal distraction while also being interesting and not needing my full attention. Anyways just wanted To say I enjoy your content and appreciate you!!
Probably Jushi Jushi no Mii (10-4-3, juu-shi-mi) Resin Resin fruit.. Would make one of Oda's favorite panels make sense (chapter 496 where Robin explains what the properties of the resin from the mangroves on Sabaodi is) Soo be ready for: Jushi Jushi no Pistol!
@@readbeforeyoureply64 yup it would really be weird, but let's be honest, Oda could pull it off, and the he would have trolled the whole fanbase for 25 years, with small hints but no spoilers.
I'm kinda expecting something akin to the Avatar spirits. Each one adds to another but the current one is in charge he's accessing the others knowledge and power when he really needs it
It's still the Gomu Gomu no mi, because people learn the name of the fruit and the powers when eating. But now it makes sense what Big Mum was saying, that a part of the One Piece is in Wano, if Joy Boy is a part of the One Piece.
eh luffy is ignorant enough to just believe that its called the gum gum fruit because the person he trusts the most said that is what it was called. aka-shanks
My favourite thing someone mentioned was shanks told him it was called the gum gum fruit so luffy just went with it, The government did supposedly rename that fruit so that's what shanks knows it by hence telling that to ignorant luffy
You are right, but also you have to remember Luffy was a little kid when he ate the fruit, and the first thing said do him from his idle Shanks was Luffy that was the gum gun fruit a devil fruit so you will lose your ability to swim, so maybe Luffy really did know the real name of the fruit but cause shanks said it was the gum gum fruit that’s what he has believed all these years
When Tekking was describing the whole Ichigo style Luffy wakes up lands and the vibe is different but tells Nami it's him. You just know that's like 2+ chapters or in the schedule a month+
If Awakening the fruit makes you become joyboy then that could also be a reason why Blackbeard was stealing devil fruits probably trying to find the one that contained him
If it was the Gomu Gomu no mi the gorosei changed, then maybe Blackbeard was actually looking for it in the encyclopedia he researched but picked the wrong one. The yami yami no mi looks a lot like the Gum fruit, so maybe he believed he was going to inherit it
Usopp being the narrator and telling this story would make since. The end of one piece shows old usopp talking to a big group of kids of Luffy the Pirate King.
What if the “Will of D” is something Joyboy did that affected his descendants, and only reacted when a single descendant had two other things on him/her, a Straw Hat, and the Devil Fruit Luffy has
After Roger's Livestream and watching other discussion videos from other UA-camrs I'm convinced Luffy has the Resin/Tree Sap fruit. Can't believe One Piece is still amazing after 2 decades
@@Tekking101True. Like he's essentially an underwater samurai, like what? I was imagining him doing like Fishman karate mixed with his sword style before we really knew him. Would have been so cool😬
When I'm 139 years old and reading chapter 20,957 of One Piece I'll remember 1043 like it was yesterday not to mention the next chapter will be just as legendary if not better
The awakening of his fruit is just called joyboy. It's still luffy. He can just go into joyboy form now. Now that form could have some special properties. Like the voice of all things dialed up, something to do with the spirits, the sun god, etc
A few chapters ago, the Grim Reaper was busy with Zoro. Kaido proclaimed that Luffy was dead. Luffy “awakens” at the end of the chapter. Luffy was able to awaken his fruit because he was near-death (which might be one of the conditions for awakening) and also because he literally could not die at THAT particular moment. Kaido was also talking about gathering slaves and turning Wano into a weapons manufacturing island which was a cue for Joy Boy to appear. Intriguing narrative by Oda as usual! Happy Pi Day, nakamas!
@@jajo1331 I was more so talking about all the casualties the war caused where multiple people had to have died at once. Like the marines that Moriah took the shadows from in broad daylight.
I think joyboy is going to be a title and you get in a similar way as black panther. Like dying or almost dying connects luffy to some spirit world type place and he talks to other joyboys.
I think luffy is still luffy, his devil fruit just happened to be awakened and zunesha heard his heartbeat like a drum of liberation which he has heard 800 years ago. Maybe part of Joyboy's soul is inside of the "gomu gomu no mi". It will be cool if they have a conversation inside luffy's mind, a one time conversation and Joyboy's soul will vanished forever.
That would really remind me of AOT where the inheritor of a Titan would gain access to memories of the previous holder. This also makes me realize thata AOT has some subtle themes of inherited will as well, with the will of Kreuger being passed on through the attack titans and Ksaver passing his will to Zeke. There's probably more too 🤔
Yeah im thinking maybe memories and a talk with joyboy revealing ways to use the gomu gomu no MI that luffy never thought about maybe, I don't like this talk about possession
Kaido said he won't leave because Wano is special. Oden said he must open Wano's borders for that "Man". Sengoku wondering why so many important figures are meeting in Wano. It's Oda foreshadowing that Joyboy was always going to appear in Wano.
I don’t know if you picked up on it, the video is still running for me. Today in Rogersbases stream following was proposed: Luffys fruit is the Resin Resin fruit. Resin means Jushi so it would be the Jushi Jushi no Mi. Why this name? Well, the Chapter tells it straight to our face. Chapter 1043. 10-4-3 Ju-Shi-Mi In a SBS it was States that Luffys rubber is a natural not a synthetically rubber. On the colorspread of 1039 the crowned monkey who’s with Luffy points at the tree sap. (Bonus: Robin discovers a skull symbol on the wall) And one of Odas favorite scenes is on sabaody when they’re talking about the bubbles which are made of a special kind of RESIN. Now I need to rewind the video bc I can’t multitask lol Edit: this was all discovered by the community on rogersbases stream. None of these were my own ideas. Another bonus. Listen to Overtaken OST. And remember, the drums of liberation are playing.
I think the devil fruit itself activates a "Joyboy" god-like state for its fully activated ability of Luffy's devil fruit. Either that or Joyboy found a way to transfer his soul into a devil fruit.
Despite the fate that was mentioned many times in the story, even from the first chapter, Luffy still builds his own destiny, as it was mentioned again, the dream "free will" or destiny. I also believe that this is the case even in the real world because part of our lives is destiny but the most important part is our actions and our decisions. so i don't have problem with destiny .
What if Oda pulls an Attack on Titan and Luffy unlocks the memories of previous fruit eaters. An interesting point is that upon eating a devil fruit people just know it's name and abilities... maybe there's more to that.
You know, I kinda did realize that, but slightly differently. Notice how a DF awakens, and its user just kinda seems to _know_ what new abilities they got and how they can use them?
Keep in mind, out only examples of awakened users are Katakuri and Doffy; two people who have possessed their powers for years, if not decades. So they had time to awaken their fruits, learn it's secrets/techniques, and then make use of them Also, there's an SBS that debunked DF users learning it's name upon eating the fruit apparently
Oda said in an sbs the person who eats a devil fruit finds out what they can do and then refers to the encyclopedia to find out what its name is. So, they don't automatically know what its name is. The question is whether they intuitively know what powers they get after eating it or they have to find out through using it by trial and error.
A property of rubber as an insulator is being used to encase materials in its self. This also applies so some polymers as well. So I can imagine Luffy’s awakening would have suppressing abilities similar to Blackbeard’s fruit which could allow them to fight on an equal playing field.
Joy boy could be just like kurama and naruto where luffy can use his power or his awakenings thoo joy appeare just once as luffy is able to supress or master the form or the title of what is joy boy
I'm so conflicted on this. On the one hand, I like it when a super badass secret power with personality shift occurs. But I would not like this with Luffy. Especially if this is some kind of possession, mind sharing or whatever then it would take so much away from Luffy's own ability for me. Like, when he does become the Pirate King it would feel like he would not have been able to do it with his own power which would suck.
What if the chosen one is whoever wears the Straw hat, perhaps there’s some Kill-la-kill type stuff going on where the straw hat itself has some special properties and perhaps contains the soul or mind of the original joy boy. If the hat requires that specific fruit it would explain why Shanks gave the hat to Luffey after he ate the rubber fruit. It also explains why Shanks stole it in the first place, perhaps at that early point he wanted to become king of the pirates but when he saw the determination of this kid he made a bet that the next generation would do it, and decided to make straight the path. Edit: what if joyboy ate the hat hat fruit.
oh my god, the upgraded model of the jacket jacket fruit, is the hat hat fruit, which allows the user to permanently turn into a hat as it's awakening, but you can basically use telepathy and talk to and control whoever wears it
One thing to note regarding Luffys ability to communicate with Zunesha is that the last time he tried it he also wasn't able to communicate with Momo the way he did while he was under water after chapter 1013. It is very possible that his voice has grown more powerful and is now able to reach Zunesha.
@Tekking101 Please Do a Video On This. I`m not sure if people have already come up with a Theory but if they didn`t please do make a video. The Ancient Weapons are three weapons capable of mass destruction, each taking a different form. They are known as Pluton, Poseidon, and Uranus, each named after a deity for their godly powers. The weapons are not limited only to inanimate objects but consist of living beings as well. Poseidon - Mermaid Princess Shirahoshi Uranus - Kozuki Momonosuke Pluton - A Ship Under Mary Geoise Reasons - 1. Mermaid Princess Shirahoshi can hear the voice of the seas king and communicate with them but Luffy can only Hear them with Voice of All Things but not communicate Very Similar to Kozuki Momonosuke and Zunesha. Therefore The Unknown Uranus Could be Momonosuke as Wano Is closed to the World and Has a lot of ties with Joy Boy Like he has with Fish-man Island. 2. Kozuki Oden Had Voice of All Things but was unable to talk to Zunesha but Kozuki Momonosuke did just like how only after several generations of Mermaid princesses did Shirahoshi awaken her power as Poseidon to speak to the Sea Kings. (Because of Luffy (Current Joy Boy)) 3. Pluton may already be under Mary Geoise as I am curious why Donquixote Doflamingo said the power that the Mary Geoise's secret treasure won`t last forever maybe due to Pluton damage over a long period of time since its creation in the Void Century. Also because the Arabasta King Nefertari Cobra asked an audience with Five Elders who hope he had not discovered something as it was known While the exact whereabouts of Pluton remain unknown, the Arabasta Kingdom Poneglyph contains information on its location. They treat him as one of the families who betray the 20 families who create the World Government. Maybe Because of this, they Seized Pluton sometime since from Arabasta but it has been severely damaged from the passage of time so they kept under Mary Geoise for safety and are afraid Arabasta King Nefertari Cobra asking questions.
What if the soul of Death that Zoro saw is connected to Luffy awakening? Hopefully it's not something like Death brought back Joyboy, but something that connects the two.
It's possible Joyboy has some kind of reincarnation fruit, like how Toki used her Time powers to jump into the future, Joyboy might have used his Devil Fruit to reincarnate 800 years later, which happens to be now, and Luffy is his "vessel" or something.
not likely, cause kaido was also trying to become Joyboy as in actively "become" Joyboy which must mean there has to be a way to become Joyboy. Whether thats dying in Wano with a specific devil fruit or being connected to the voice of all things, we dont know
@@elekku7031 yes he did, in the flashback with king and kaido, king asks if Kaido is JoyBoy and Kaido responds that he is JoyBoy or trying to become him
@@elekku7031 kaido has been trying to kill himself since the start of the arc and luffy became joyboy after 'dying' which cold imply that kaido was only being suicidal to become joyboy, and he also said that he's there because it's wano so maybe it's a prophecy thing
So since this reveal and people bringing up the idea of the "Tree Sap Rubber" Awakening, I decided to try an connect a few dots I noticed. "Hevea brasiliensis" Is one of the more common trees used in the tapping of sap to create rubber. Fun connections: This tree is native to the Amazon rainforest, and was used in ancient times by the Olmecs to make a cruder form of rubber before the invention of Vulcanization many many years later. One of the places in One Piece that people look to for connections with Laughtale, Joyboy, and the ancient history is Shandora, which has heavy Mesoamerican themes. Second Fun connection: These trees are also native to Brazil (Amazon Rainforest), and Oda once said when asked what nationalities the Straw Hats would be in our would, Oda said Luffy would be from Brazil as well Not sure if that means anything deeper, but It was something fun to think about
Easiest way to think about it. Any creature with an exoskeleton, fingernail, shell-like skin, isn't a vertebrae. Those that do are. Probably some exceptions here and there, but the main way of knowing is if their bodies 'support structure', what keeps them upright and keeps everything in, is on the inside or outside of their body.
Just wanted to say that when he looked as if he was melting. He was actually melting upwards because he was laying on his back. Wondering your thoughts on this.
So my theory is that Luffy actually died from that attack, and that next chapter we will see a vision from inside Luffy, he will be talking to himself, but one is Joyboy and the other is Luffy, and joyboy will basically say that its not his time yet, and will explain how to make proper use of his devil fruit to Luffy, explaining that all this time the name of it has been Resin Resin no mi, and that now when awakened he will understand the true potential of his fruit. And thats why Luffy is grinning, his body knows that its not his time yet, and that he is Joyboy. He also got a huge power up and is ready to whoop Kaido’s ass. Either that or it will happen off-screen but thats just my headcannon, i also think We will get to see about the grim reaper next chapter! Amazing chapter 150/10 loved it!
A thought. What if the souls of previous users of fruits stay within the fruit after death (kinda like the devil taking your soul trope) Individuals who consume the fruit have the souls of previous users inside of them. Assuming that joyboy ate the gomu gomu no mi, this "awakening" allowed luffy to become one with the previous users including joyboy
I feel like if joy boy does infact possess luffy, it'll be a one time thing. He might just meet luffy in some kind of inner world and hand over the title of joy boy, then give him a few words of advice on how to use his awakening before he just leaves luffy to carry on on his own
I personally really like the theory that its luffy's strawhat that has a devil fruit or other special power and that's what the gorosei were referring to, not Luffy. This devil fruit or power the hat has awakens when a wearer shows a certain quality that deems them worthy of inheriting the title of joyboy.
I was laughing so hard after your epiphany about Luffy using Katakuri's technique that I envisioned Kaido *and* Zunesha making the Enel face XD I can't wait for the next chapters !
Luffy will still be Luffy Joy Boy is a Title In the Same way that Posidon is a title for Shirahochi There were other Posidons back in the day But it's Not one person I think Joy Boy is similar to that
So one of my favorite handlings of a chosen one story was in Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. It was always kept ambiguous whether the Neraverine prophecy was true and your character was Nerevar reborn, or of it was all just a coincidence.
My thoughts are that Nika the Sun God is Joy Boy and that the gomu gomu no mi was renamed and was originally something along the lines of the Nico Nico no mi or something along those lines to signify smile in some way, and that the fruit contains the essence of whatever joyboy or a joyboy is supposed to be.
What has been really bothering me for a while now is that I see a lot of theories surrounding the fact that Luffy's fruit might not be the gomu gomu no nomi after all and it might be something entirely different. While i love every single one of these theories by tekking and ohara especially, what I just cannot get over is the fact that it has been mentioned numerous times in the story that the user of a devil fruit, after they consume it will automatically learn the name of the fruit. Like it just comes to them. So if that were the case, wouldn't luffy already know that his fruit is not the gomu gomu nomi but something else?
i was thinking the same, but rereading it was shanks who told luffy his fruit is the gum gum fruit maybe since he was a kid and like respected shanks so much he came to the conclusion that it was??? idk bro
How many times do I have to repeat this, THIS IS NOT TRUE. THIS IS A MISTRANSLATION. You eat the fruit, use your powers, look it up or just make assumptions on the name.
I like to think of it like a title that you live up to and zuneshia recognizing the drum and the name of joy boy is more like the common trope of seeing a sillouette of someone you need /want and having it filled by Luffy, this I get from the sillouette of nika that Luffy also fits
I'd say Luffy's connection to Joyboy will be similar to Shirahoshi's connection to the previous Poseidon. Even though Shirahoshi is called Poseidon as well, she is not the same person that had the power to control the Sea Kings 800 years ago. As you mentioned in this video, I imagine Joyboy is just an epithet that was given to the previous user of the "Gomu Gomu no mi" once they awakened the fruit's true power. This is because, for some unknown reason, the user of the fruit smiles in this awakened state.
What if the awakening of the fruit just made Luffy come to realize something and having this new perspective or idea, makes his way of thinking (his voice). So Joyboy is just a way of life, a way to think that is present in the new voice tha zunisha hears, and the one we see in the final panel it is actually our Luffy smiling like " I've got this ".
i like to think of it as not luffy being the chosen one or aligning with fate but more so that joyboy maybe saw the personality and growth and chose him. i mean the theme of "living on long after your physical death" is pretty prevalent especially with the higher tier characters
The heart pirates could hear luffy's voice (seen in the scene where they saved luffy from drowning in their submarine). Maybe it's something about their crew?
About the thing with luffys voice. Back with Eneru an co. it was also always discribed as "a voice vanishing", when someone bit the dirt or went down. P.S.: So, I listened to this high pitched thing. God, flippin damn it, it's annoying as hell! Now I know what it would be Like If tinitus got.an echo!
The voice thing was established early in Skypia with the little girl. Her haki or mantra was strong and someone got knocked out or almost dead and she would scream another voice is gone! So it's just an observation haki thing.
I feel like the drum beak is the noise of the power awakening and it it always sound the same for the persons first awakening but as they use the power it becomes more personalized to them
I'm wondering if Joyboy is the proper name of the devilfruit. And so Luffy awakening it is what awakens the memories of the previous users of the fruit. Letting Luffy still be himself but having the memories of the actual Joyboy. Also I've had the idea for a while now, but what if you basically have to die and comeback to awaken your devilfruit. Like the fruit is about to find a new host and you coming back bring out the true "soul" of the fruit and that's why so few truly awaken their fruit.
If Joyboy did really posses Luffy I can absolutely see Luffy starting punching himself to get Joyboy out of his body
Lmao, this is so plausible! xD
This ^
Now this I agree with!
Lmao yes! He just goes Gomu Gomu no Boh 🤣
That would be smart
I think JoyBoy has returned more so symbolically than literally, or rather Luffy is the new JoyBoy not so much that the person who lived during the void century has literally returned
Yeah, the same way Shirahoshi is the new Poseidon. Which would be a good case because both Luffy and Joy Boy share the same goal to free Fishman Island
that's essentially what i said in my post, but apparently it's too long for people to read it >.>
@@skelitonking117 oh wow it’s like people can have the same thoughts, crazy

So it will be still Luffy, because he didn't destrory it jet
Bingo
I don't know if someone has mentioned this, but i like how this whole deal of Joyboy and Luffy adds more to the identity theme of Wano which gets more and more important.
-Yamato believing she's Oden
-Sanji with his Germa powers awakening turning him into something he isn't
-Zoro and his family which i'm sure we will get more of it after the war
-Momo finding something important about himself in Oden's journal.
-Hiyori and Denjiro pretending to be someone else for years
-Now Luffy being Joyboy
And i probably missed someone. We are all really shocked at this Luffy-Joyboy reveal but looking back it seems it's just following a common trend in Wano. Can't wait to see where all of this goes.
Kawamatsu pretending to be a kappa
Kinemon pretending to be momo’s dad
Kanjuro pretending to be a retainer
Kikunojo being a woman at heart
More than identity, I think the Wano arc is about awakening:
- Law and Kidd showing for the first time their awakening;

If Law does have the voice of all things I’d prefer him to have that over conquerors. Law doesn’t have the drive or ambition that others have really, and it’d be a fun little thing where kid has conquerors, law has the voice , and luffy has both
I guess that means Aisa, Enel, Coby all have it too. I say sarcastically
@@cryhwks Coby, probably.
I think Law probably has some minor form due to the Ope Ope no Mi. He's got the soul/heart swap technique, which requires some perception of someone's "voice". Sorta like how Itadori can protect his soul from Mahito because he knows the boundary of his soul due to the presence of Sukuna.
Kidd has conqueror's haki and Law is a member of the D. Clan.
Luffy is both.
What do you mean? Lol he’s the reason we’re even in Wano
Oda is INSANE!!
absolutely insane
I see it being more like when Neo awakened to his power in the first Matrix movie.
He'll still be Luffy, but having awakened his power will come with a new understanding and confidence of his abilities.
Luffys voice having gone quiet and the drums of liberation signalling joyboy could be more of a metaphorical change in Luffy rather that literal, again, like it was for Neo
I like this idea
In fairness Neo had to "die" to awaken his powers as well.
Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho
Do anyone think Law and Kid did not has real awakened it same small vs Doflamingo one also last longs. Luffy one look like real one to me.
I like your thoughts
Usopp probably gonna die before one last betrayal during the final war. He's most likely the snake, the judad of Luffys crew. I hope to be wrong, I like your ending more.

4:16 XD Usopp just telling the entire story to kaya, many years in the future
I love that idea. Then at the very end, he says HE was the one that becomes King of the Pirates and it's revealed it was him telling the tale the whole time.
The fact that Roger came to Laughtale too early implies that if he were to come at the right time he would have been able to become joyboy as well. Although it could also be that Roger would have been there with joyboy instead of becoming him.
I don’t think Rodger wanted to be joyboy but wanted to meet him. Which is why he said he was too early because he couldn’t meet him yet
But Ace already ate a devil fruit before that.

A big part of Luffy's story is variations of freedom, so giving him a superpowered inner side, or other being to take control, doesn't quite fit
I think it would be silly as well. It works in other stories as its executed and set up for those particular stories. Luffy just needs to be Luffy man.
Wheel of Time and Lord of the rings are great chosen one stories if you want a proper example of why troupes aren’t bad it’s how you use them
The joy boy thing could be the same as LTT in wot.
I'm honestly surprised it took that long for Luffy to have his rubber body melt considering most of his gears involve him heating up his body.

If Ki (Haki in One Piece) is not sensible, it’s either:
1.) You’re suppressing it.
I swear the hat itself is Joyboy! That’s why Imu has a frozen hat as they think they have captured him

And that's why Imu was looking at it
That’s what I’ve thought since that panel of Imu looking at the hat. But it was also frozen as if to preserve or imprison it.
To be honest, I think it's still luffy. I think his soul, just sounds different, now. Like the hymn of his soul sounds similarly to what Joyboy's did

Edit: this was all discovered by the community on rogersbases stream.
Some people mentioned that maybe the soul/the will/ a part of the person stays in the fruit and whoever eats it next can maybe encounter it.

So they had time to awaken their fruits, learn it's secrets/techniques, and then make use of them
Also, there's an SBS that debunked DF users learning it's name upon eating the fruit apparently
Oda said in an sbs the person who eats a devil fruit finds out what they can do and then refers to the encyclopedia to find out what its name is. So, they don't automatically know what its name is. The question is whether they intuitively know what powers they get after eating it or they have to find out through using it by trial and error.
@@Glenn_Coco Law knows how his works despite awakening it only recently by his own admission.

The Ancient Weapons are three weapons capable of mass destruction, each taking a different form. They are known as Pluton, Poseidon, and Uranus, each named after a deity for their godly powers. The weapons are not limited only to inanimate objects but consist of living beings as well.
Poseidon - Mermaid Princess Shirahoshi
Uranus - Kozuki Momonosuke
Pluton - A Ship Under Mary Geoise
Reasons -
(Because of Luffy (Current Joy Boy))

Amazing chapter 150/10 loved it!
great theory man if this happened it would be cool asf
You're wrong
I love the idea of zunisha having a moment like law when he 1st met the strawhats.
Super serious zunisha: .....facepalm
A thought. What if the souls of previous users of fruits stay within the fruit after death (kinda like the devil taking your soul trope)
Individuals who consume the fruit have the souls of previous users inside of them. Assuming that joyboy ate the gomu gomu no mi, this "awakening" allowed luffy to become one with the previous users including joyboy
I feel like if joy boy does infact possess luffy, it'll be a one time thing. He might just meet luffy in some kind of inner world and hand over the title of joy boy, then give him a few words of advice on how to use his awakening before he just leaves luffy to carry on on his own
This, except I think a conversation between Joy boy & Kaido would be interesting
I personally really like the theory that its luffy's strawhat that has a devil fruit or other special power and that's what the gorosei were referring to, not Luffy. This devil fruit or power the hat has awakens when a wearer shows a certain quality that deems them worthy of inheriting the title of joyboy.
Thank you, I’ve been looking for this one. It’s clearly his straw hat that’s melting too and not his body.
Idk what animal facts intro is better, Frog facts or the ORIGINAL Ant facts jingle
I was laughing so hard after your epiphany about Luffy using Katakuri's technique that I envisioned Kaido *and* Zunesha making the Enel face XD I can't wait for the next chapters !
Side Note: Did we ever get to know properly why Kaido is seemingly indestructable? Could this be related to the whole JoyBoy issue?
I’m pretty sure it’s his race in companion with conquerors coating
@@Dylann.000 his devil fruit too. Hard scales
@@Dylann.000 could be his DF as well. Dragon scales are notoriously difficult to pierce even in Western lore
Luffy will still be Luffy
Joy Boy is a Title
In the Same way that Posidon is a title for Shirahochi
There were other Posidons back in the day
But it's Not one person
I think Joy Boy is similar to that
So one of my favorite handlings of a chosen one story was in Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind.
Usopp is missing… Usopp is Joyboy 😛
I've been saying since Luffy left fishman island , that he was striking sun god nikas pose when he tell the crew "let's set sail".
I'd love to hear your take on a "What if Geco Moria beat Kaido in their war/rivalry?"
Chapter 1043 is definitely one of the chapters ever
This could be weird since JoyBoy was before Nika, but the gomu gomu no mi could be originally called Nika Nika no mi (Also Niko is laughing)
Zunesha: i can hear it, fap fap fap, the sound of someone having a whank, fapman! he has returned!!!!
So Luffy grows up like Eren?
@@mystogan4542 lol woah
@@mystogan4542 OK dude you don't need to comment this on every 1043 related video
@@frieza2235 Eren is the final antagonist in one piece Luffy will fight him for the title of the FREEST person in the world
Maybe Luffy will get a "vision" of Ace telling him what is going on? Ace has been pretty important in this arc.
i like to think of it as not luffy being the chosen one or aligning with fate but more so that joyboy maybe saw the personality and growth and chose him. i mean the theme of "living on long after your physical death" is pretty prevalent especially with the higher tier characters
The heart pirates could hear luffy's voice (seen in the scene where they saved luffy from drowning in their submarine). Maybe it's something about their crew?
Luffy’s fruit still needs to provide as an isolator so his fight with Enel still makes sense
