Thank you for all the details you share, concerning this tuba, through several of your vids here!!! This particular vid put me over the top (low notes showcase), or "got me off the fence"; I just nabbed a TIGER version of it... for an amazing price. AWESOME!!!!!
Thank you for giving more thoughts on this tuba. I’m thinking of purchasing it. I’m not a professional player but I wanna try something new. I’m so sick of the dents my other tubas get.
These are good horns. It doesn't beat my brass tubas. But it's easy to carry around, you can get a great sound it, and it really works your ability to center every tone. Look for used ones. The price of these Cool Wind tubas are going up. They should retail around $1245.00 but I've seen them for around $1450.00 lately. They can be found used or demonstration models for a lot cheaper. Good luck!
@@EcclesiasticusRex There's a dealer in the UK that sells these Cool Wind tubas for 755 British pounds. Shipping to the US is 30 British pounds. That's a little over $1000. They only sell to educational institutions. I bought a brass four valve compensating Yamaha clone Euphonium from their sister company in Germany that does sell to the general public. It was less than $600 including shipping, and I have been very happy with it. There is another vendor in China that sells plastic BBb tubas for about $673, including shipping. They are unbranded but look identical to the Cool Wind tuba. (No doubt Cool Wind is a stensil brand for this generic plastic tuba.) Of course, you would have to be happy with taking the risk of buying direct from China. I am thinking about doing that.
@@EcclesiasticusRex I see, it's pretty much similar with the piston valve tuba model--making my decision-making all the more confusing haha CoolWind has another tuba model you see where it's piston valves, and after inquiring different people about the different models, looks like both are not so different after all; which is unfortunate given both lack a surefire way to tune the notes as they get sharper down low. Thanks for the info and these insightful videos about the CoolWind Tuba. :D
@@EcclesiasticusRex I just got mine recently and my spit valve is leaking, I was thinking of maybe cutting some cork in the shape of a tiny doughnut to put around that little plastic stick that's going into the hole, do you think that would fix the issue?
@@coreysv7s407 I will be doing some different maintenance on mine here in the next day or so; I will take some tie to think about the water key while I'm at it. But I think for the water key, you might explore the idea of going to your local hardware store to look for a small O-ring that might fit better than trying to cut a cork to that size and shape. You can get varieties of sizes.

Gostaria de saber quanto custa uma Tuba Cool Wind?
Is the tuning slide that your left hand is holding a main tuning slide that one can pull back and forth to help tune the lower register?
The main slide is down below. I use that top slide to help tune when needed.

Have you replaced those valve bumpers, if so, how is it now?
Not all of them. But the replacement is better. I will probably replace the rest very soon.

@@EcclesiasticusRex thank you for the Idea, I only thought of the cork because my old trombone has a cork stopper on that valve
