Just an amazing person. I went to Kentucky for the first time last Fall. I was at the end of my trip and stopped at the Wild Turkey distillery. They were only open a few days because of Covid, but I noticed the Visitors Center was open. I went in and who's sitting at the door but Mr. Jimmy himself. I still can't believe I had the honor of meeting one of my heroes. He's everything people say he is - and more. Thank you for making this world a much more enjoyable place!
Wild Turkey 101 remains, imho, the best bang-for-buck bourbon on the market. Punches well above the price point. I enjoy each and every dram of it. Thanks Jimmy & WT!
Jimmy, I am 61 years old and have been enjoying Wild Turkey 101 since I turned 21. To me, there is no other Bourbon. As each of my 4 children turned 21, we had a shot of 101 with each. My youngest is now 28 and she regularly will have a shot or 2 with her dad. Sir, you create magic!
I met Jimmy on the front porch of the Wild Turkey store 20 years ago. He is such a kind and unassuming man. It was an honor to meet him and have a chat.
I'm really glad a buddy of mine told me one day to try wild turkey 101 and I did it's truly the only bourbon I drink got a bottle beside me now I'm sippin' on thanks Jimmy Russell and God bless !!!
"That's how I want it to be: I wake up in the morning, go to work, and when it's time to leave, I'll just walk out." Boy if that didn't jerk a tear :'(
Oh this is cool! The guy behind Russell's Reserve. It was my first 'good' bottle of bourbon that wasn't just Jack Daniel's and probably the best bottle I've had for the price, age, notes, and overall quality. It was always that bottle I could always go to.
I have over 100 bottles of whiskey/whisky...scotch, bourbon, rye and a few blends. Wild Turkey is amazing and one of my favorite "go to's". 101 bourbon or rye, Russell's, Rare Breed...you can't go wrong with any of them. Great video! Cheers to Mr. Russell, his family and distillery team from Scott Hammond from Niles, Illinois.
I briefly met Jimmy a few years ago at the distillery gift shop. I had no idea who he was at the time, but he had such a powerful presence and I'll never forget meeting him.
Jimmy is a master. I love his rye, if you have never had it, try it. When a friend of mine died a couple of years ago, we toasted him with a bottle of Russell Rye. Every time I drink a Wild Turkey product I thank you Mr. Russell. Thank you for hanging in there durning the tough times and coming through to the other side.
We've met Jimmy several times doing tours, and he is always the Best representative any distillery could want. Truly a sweet, cool, sharp guy and so personable!! God Bless You Jimmy!
Incredible, this world is a better place with good ol'boy's like Mr.Russell. We need more like him. Having met Bruce, I already feel closer. It looks like it is going to be a WT kinda night. Thank you sir for all you do. God Bless....
I just picked up the Russell reserve 10 year prior to watching this video. Now I can put two and two together. What an amazing steadfast individual. God bless him
@@adamferguson3115 Apparently in this field, it's a rare kinship that the Bourbon companies enjoy where they help each other succeed in an atmosphere of Friendship.
It's sad to me that the likes aren't higher on this video, just the principal and values makes me want to drink more wild turkey!I also happen to love Wild Turkey! So I am in fact biased 🤣
Amazing. Not giving into pressure and staying true. Jack Daniel’s dropped there proof well Wild Turkey have stayed true. The 101 is a great value and excellet bourbon. Can’t wait to try some more of this companies amazing offerings.
I always enjoy trying new bourbons and I picked up a bottle of Russell's Reserve for the first time last night. I also enjoy the history behind the different brands and this video was great! The bourbon is too.
Under the Wild Turkey brand, they have had to do what they needed for the market and its trends. But under the Russell's title they have been honoring the tradition of what the true character of Bourbon is. Thank you good man!
Must be an amazing feeling once you got your dream going &a you can just sit back and reap the fruits of your labor . Work is option but you want too !!!!
I do love Wild Turkey, for medical reasons I cut back on brown liquor BUT Wild Turkey stands up above all others. It is the drink. Straight or with ice. ..it is the "kick off your shoes, kick back and say awww and you know you are finally home.
Let him know I have drank his bourbon since 78 when first introduced to it. Never saw a need to deviate. Nothing came close. Today in 2023, I type this as I enjoy his Rare Breed. It's exceptional and so smooth. Girls want rock stars to autograph their chest, I want Jimmy.
I drink Wild Turkey because for years we do a blind whiskey test at deer camp each year. We had all kinds of whiskey even Payy Van Winkle. Wild Turkey 101 won every single year for the six years I was there. Plus it was my Dad's favorite whiskey.
At some places the head distiller (some of them just don't merit the supreme superlative of "master," at least not yet) changes every five or 10 years. Jimmy Russell was around for *decades* . And while Wild Turkey isn't my favorite, it's one of my favorites. Take Jimmy Russell out of it, and that might not be the case.
I too love Wild Turkey 101 and Rare Breed! But I saw something yesterday that shook me to my core… WT 101 in a plastic bottle! What manner of BS is that? Jimmy Russell you know better than that!
u said.. who would come to work the same job for 62 years. well the perfect answer would be.. the guy who gets to reap tens of millions of dollars every month the guy who owns it! lol

Indeed ... the 81 proof also kicks ass over higher priced bourbon ... mr russell a gatekeeper for the nectar of the gods
Rare Breed is even a better bang for your buck in my opinion
it has taken me 40 years to realise how good bourbon is . I'm 43 now loving bourbon and making up for lost time , God bless America from the UK

I agree 100%
Scott Hammond- Well said sir. I do agree. Great bourbon and a wonderful place to visit.
I love every bit of this bourbon and I think my ancestors would have too, and that’s very important to me.
Yeah you’re right. It’s a direct unchanged connection to our past.
I had the honor of meeting Mr "Jimmy" Russell on June 5th. He signed a bottle of Wild Turkey for me.
Truly, a remarkable man.
Thank you Mr. Russell.
I briefly met Jimmy a few years ago at the distillery gift shop. I had no idea who he was at the time, but he had such a powerful presence and I'll never forget meeting him.
Beautiful video. Thank you to Jimmy, Booker, Parker, and Elmer for keeping bourbon ready for the resurgence we are seeing today.
God bless Jimmy Russell.

I’m proud to say wild turkey is my favorite bourbon. And after learning more and more about jimmy, it just makes me even more. Proud. Thank you jimmy.
If only everyone took the same pride in their job as Mr. Jimmy.
I'm sipping some Wild Turkey 101 and watching this cute humble passionate man who dedicated his life for this amazing bourbon. It gave me tears :(

Happy birthday, Jimmy!! This is almost too good.
I love Wild Turkey. It's my rare "special treat" after an unusually hard days work or to celebrate the best of occasions. Thanks Jimmy.
The BOURBON GOD ! I am more than impressed, not just about this work but also about this great personality.
Rare Breed is nectar of the gods to me.
Absolutely brilliant! This is so well made, and inspiring. Thank you for this video!
Wild Turkey is the best bourbon whisky I ever had, if I spot any of this brand
I will certain buy one.
Great testimony to what seems to be a local legend. Looking forward to finding a bottle in Europe and see what this is all about!
If you do, get the 101 and don’t look back as it will change you.
101 is the best stuff around especially for the price

Fantastic story....love me some Wild Turkey!!!!
I'm sipping on a Russell reserve 10 year old as I'm watching this. GOD Bless your soul Jimmy Russell!
Enjoying this film with a glass of 10yo Russell's Reserve. I'd be honored to talk with, and learn from, Mr. Russell.

i started with the classic WT, and then fell in love with honey, and now im sipping on Rare Breed
talked to Jimmy Russell one time he is a great man..
Great bourbon
My heart got heavy when Beam partnered with Suntory, but I know they did it for larger distribution. Let's pray Wild Turkey stays in the family.
You got one more customer today, Wild Turkey.
