Thanks for the video. Elmer is my favorite bourbon, and I am taking a tour in early March 2025. I'm sure I won't have any luck scoring a bottle, but I'll have fun looking!
I’m glad that the Buffalo 🦬 Trace company honors and values the legacy of their staff / family and share’s them with us along with their namesake products. “CHEERS TO BUFFALO TRACE A REAL AMERICAN FAMILY ORIENTED COMPANY” 🇺🇸 🌽🥃
The stories here in Peaks Mill and Franklin County are glorious, every August 5 I toast Elmer T Lee from my oldest bottle bearing his name, Mark Brown does a wonderful job painting a picture of ETLee

@@geno816 no doubt, ive scored a couple taylors and i saw stagg once but i wasnt in line quick enuf to get one. we get stagg once a year and if you miss drop day you missed out entirely.
That parting shot of Elmer with tha barrels outta be a t-shirt available on company website! Killer pic🔥oh and the video was completely epic and fresh 👍
You will not be disappointed my friend it is fantastic! Unless you like the spicier side of bourbon it's sweet and pleasant. Very easy drinker. I've purchased quite a few different bottles recently amd I keep going back to BT
Good video! Mark got one thing slightly incorrect though. At about 3:20 he mentions when Blanton's first came out in 1984 that all of it was going to Japan. That's not quite accurate. It was released in the US in the fall of 1984 first and then went to Japan in early 1985. Source: I have done extensive history as one of the largest collectors of Blanton's in the world. Multiple advertisements and newspaper articles from the time can back this up. Still, he has a good point that Japan was the market that most of it went to eventually and for that matter kept Blanton's and bourbon alive when nobody else wanted it! Cheers!
@@Chase_AM Listen at 3:22 "so all of the Blanton's single barrel that was being made actually ended up going to Japan." I'm nit-picking but using the word "all" is not accurate. "a lot" would have been better to say which is accurate. America received it first, and there were a lot of people who enjoyed it here first before Japan got it. They sold out of the initial production runs in 1984 and there was even a waiting list. Not to say that it was extremely popular...no bourbon was here and they didn't bottle that much compared to today's production. Japan was the bigger market for sure when it got there in 1985.. There's just a lot more to the story which he glosses over...but that's why I wrote the actual book about the brand I guess. :-)
I have been collecting whiskey for many years I went hard on it in 1991 my whole issue with the Buffalo Trace that I've been drinking since the late '80s something has happened somewhere somehow down the road something changed? When I pull an old dusty out of Elmer t or blatton's from the early '90s or even weller antique vein bottles something's just different whether it was the wood The tree quality? Or grain quality in the last couple of years or so quality has dropped and it's not just me it's everyone I talk to in everywhere I read people are not very happy with the quality of a lot of bourbons that are hitting the store floors it seems like they just out to pump out barrels and the quality has dropped? I'm sure there's some honey barrels that's the case in every distillery but seeing so many other distilleries out there doing amazing things and pumping out delicious juice I think it's time Buffalo Trace starts putting more into their mixing and sniffing and tasting into their bottling line I hope this don't get hated on I'm just a consumer one man's opinion.... Peace and love drink more bourbon

Hey Buffalo Trace, stop hiding every drop of whiskey worth drinking behind Allocated bottles! The Beanie Baby Bourbon boom will go the same way. People go out of there way and spend so much to be grossly disappointed. I remember when ancient age tasted good……..then you decided ordinary Americans don’t deserve your drinkable whiskey. You didn’t used to put so much “new make” in the blends. Is this the price for higher volume?
Not sound stupid but I would hope these guys loved black people cause I truly luv the history of this distillery and I’ll probably collect and drink trace for the rest of my life…28 yr old from California lol Elmer came in and and couldn’t get a job lol and ended up being the goat 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Watched this years ago, circling back around to watch again with my own bottle of Elmer.
Excellent storyteller can sit for hours and watch it must do more

Great whiskeys keep up the great work. And the grounds are amazing I really enjoyed the visit!
Thank you! I love the historical looks back. My love of bourbon is of course driven by taste, but part of it is the history of 🇺🇸 America's whiskey.
Elmer T Lee is the one bottle i have never seen in a store for purchase, that what makes hunting rare bourbon so fun!
I got my first one today! Never seen it in the wild before today.
It is the most common to find here. I have 5. Kinda overrated though. I wish they had it in the antique collection at 120 proof.
@@geno816 in virginia we get alot of buffalo trace, eagle rare, and blantons (old label benchmark and the ancient age also).

He didn’t say otherwise. He just said the first market that enjoyed Blanton’s SiB was Japan.

His last comment is very interesting about drip feeding. Feels like a hint at their strategy with whiskey
You guys are still not making enough because its hard to find in the northeast so we drink other brands but we love Buffalo Trace products.
I can see that green paint. Its all over the VA hospital near me and still on some ships.
Great insight to the "back story" of Blanton's and Elmer.!
That is a really cool story
