  • Listen to the beautiful sounds of Vietnam's only ensemble that performs its repertoire purely with bamboo music instruments.
    1st song: Diễm Xưa | Trịnh Công Sơn
    2nd song: Turkish March | Mozart
    Suc Song Moi (The New Vitality) is the only bamboo ensemble in Vietnam that performs its symphonicly orchestrated repertoire purily with bamboo music instruments. It was established in 2013 by the young conductor Dong Quang Vinh - the principle conductor of the Vietnam National Opera & Ballet & Hanoi Voices Choir, who had been trained for 9 years in Shanghai Conservatory of Music - China. The Ensemble’s music instruments were all made from bamboo by Artist Dong Van Minh (father of Dong Quang Vinh) - a prominent bamboo music maestro and its reperoire, includes Vietnamese folk music and world’s academic classical masterpieces by Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Debussy, Ravel, Saint-Saens, Offenbach, Elgar etc., were all orchestrated by Dong Quang Vinh himself. Inherited the passion for academic music from his father, combined with the unfettered mind of a young professional, Vinh set up the Bamboo Ensemble with an ambition to bring academic music closer to the young generation in his unique and original style.

    Okay. So, the device in dads mouth is vibrated by drawing the bow across the string attached to it. The sound coming from the mouth thing is modulated by the shapes he makes with his mouth and picked up by the microphone. I think! Anyway, good stuff, bravo!

      +Art is Life it seems he has a speaker of the instruments sound pointing into his mouth. So he's using both like a vocoder. if you aim a speaker at your mouth and change your mouth shape you'll see how it works.

    • @SepiaSepiaKR
      @SepiaSepiaKR 6 років тому +4

      He uses his mouth as a resonator. At some points you can see the string extending from the bottom of the instrument right into his mouth. It works in exactly the same manner as the talkbox Peter Frampton used. Imagine if you could change the shape of the hole and body of a guitar as you were playing it. It's precisely that.

      TEDx Badinh Hi, the name of the bamboo íntruments that most of us play here is "T'rung", you can call them "Bamboophone" (Bamboo xylophone) in English. The bamboo violin which is played by mr. Dong Van Minh is named "K'ni". We still have more other instruments in the bamboo orchestra which we hope next time to be introduced to you.
