Lol. You are so funny. I love that you are so relaxed. I’m not Dominican I am Puerto Rican, but I am trying out this recipe tonight. I hope I don’t disappoint my Dominican friends.
Hey Belqui! I have used this recipe numerous times and it's wonderful!!!! I just add a lil sofrito and olives but otherwise stick to your recipe. My wife and I are also autism parents. I am so happy you decided to share your love for cooking with us. I too love to cook and find it therapeutic. Please continue to bless us with your love for cooking!
Thank you so much John! I am so happy to hear that you enjoy this recipe and that you have made it many times. It makes me so happy! Hi everyone and special regards to Belqui. I totally enjoyed your recipe ...you came through as friendly and down to earth. I really enjoyed the time, Not to mention the recipe. God bless you and your loved ones. Again thank you so much for sharing..
Great recipe! I can’t wait to try it next week. BTW - I think I really good video idea would be breaking down a whole chicken into individual pieces for cooking. I know you showed some of it in this video, but I’ve been surprised how many people spend so much money buying individual chicken pieces when buying the whole chicken and cutting it up is so much more cost effective. I think people feel overwhelmed by knowing exactly where to cut and cutting raw meat. Either way, I think that would be a great idea for your channel.
Hi T Davis! You are so right! I should have shown more but I always feel like not being a chef and cutting it not professionally would get the trolls going. You'd be surprised how people attack you for the littlest things so I kept it light and not very instructional there. But I will try to create a recipe soon where I show I chop it? If they come after me, I'm coming after you! Hahahaha!!!
I just got back from santo domingo zona colonial! Had this and just had to make it at home in DC. So I stumbled upon your video and when I tell you. Your UA-cam channel is amazing, the dish i made was a hit!! The whole family loved it, I next had to try to mimic the fried red snapper which was also a WIN!! You have a loyal subscriber in me, keep up the awesome job. You're really helping us all create these masterpieces
Awww, thank you! I appreciate your comment so much! I am so glad you made two of my favorite recipes and that you plan to stick around. Let me know if you make anything else. The Locrio is my next recommendation. 😉
@@BelquisTwist no problem at all!! Oh yeah that's great to know! I'll most definitely be taking your advice and making that next. Thanks for the recommendation!!
I think I'm the only Latino on the planet that doesn't like pollo guisado; everyone always looks at me like I'm crazy when I say I don't like it; now that I think about it, people often look at me like I'm crazy even when I don't mention pollo guisado, but I digress. This recipe might just turn me; it looks delicious; that sugar trick is awesome. Would like to add some potatoes to it.
I would look at you like you are crazy too!!! Ay Dios Mio!!! You need to make it as soon as you can because once you have it, you'll love it. Although, I must say that not all recipes are created equal. I've had some pollo guisado lacking flavor or with too much of one thing or the other. Not to brag but mine is delicious. hahaha! The potato thing is something I have never done, I wonder if they would cook fast enough in there, maybe if thin cut? I also worry about the starch and what it would do to the sauce. Maybe try it without potatoes first and then next time with the potatoes that way you can compare which is best?
@@BelquisTwist it's true, most guisados I've tried I've found them more on the bland side. I never tried making it because I don't enjoy it. I've eaten Dominican, Puerto Rican and Colombian. With the potatoes, I would season more heavily and add them right after the chicken. Guess I'll give it a try this weekend and reply with an update. The good thing is that the family likes guisado so it won't go to waste.
It's called a Prepdeck. I found them online when they were crowdfunding and ordered it. Got it and loved them. Now I am a brand ambassador which is cool. I love how I can prep easily with it and put the containers in the fridge until I need them.

Made this yesterday... Only thing is i was hesitant about using white sugar. I didn't have any brown sugar so so i didn't use any. It came out amazing though. :)
Great! The sugar mostly gives it a deeper browning and a bit of caramelization. I have cooked it without sugar too before. Next time try with sugar and let me know if you find it different. I do, but like you said, both still good. :)
This is the same as stew chicken from anglo caribbean. Wow. Only difference is we dont use cilantro so much or olives. Instead we would add hot pepper and thyme. But its basically the same ❤
hi Rob! Its actually 12 inches. I got this one and all my Le Creuset pots and pans at their outlets because the savings are so good. Make sure you go to one one them if you choose this brand. 👍🏽

Good question! My mom always taught me to do it this way, I asked her just now and she says it kills bacteria? hahaha but you know, us caribbean people have some weird habits! LOL
I use lime or lemon juice for the smell. Sometimes fresh chicken and eggs can really put me off, so the lime and lemon really changes that smell!
