  • Welcome Back to my Channel! This is my next video in a series of authentic Puerto Rican dishes that I will be posting. In this video we make Pollo guisado con Arroz blanco. (Chicken stew with White rice). This is one of the most popular Puerto Rican dishes. An easy week night meal that you can make in under 45 minutes. Contrary to popular belief this dish is on the healthy side since we only use canola oil and fresh veggies. Please leave any suggestions of what you would like to see prepared for future videos. Thanks for watching, COMMENT, LIKE & SUBSCRIBE! BUEN PROVECHO!
The ingredients for the chicken stew:
3 chicken breasts, cut in half
    3 potatoes diced
    Olives
    3 carrots
    1 8oz can tomato sauce
    5 tablespoons sofrito
    Garlic powder
    Cumin
    Oregano
    Adobo Goya
    Canola oil
    1 package Sazon Knorr
    For the rice:
    2 cups long grain rice
    2 1/4 cup water
    salt to taste
    1-2 tablespoons canola oil
    Buen Provecho!

I just want to say that I am Puertorican but I had never cooked and I went to your channel and I have been using your videos to teach me for months. My food has been amazing and my husband is loving it. I'm so happy and I have YOU to thank. I never get the chance to comment because I'm always busy following the video while cooking but I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you. You are great and you know what works! I've done the Tembleque, arroz con gandules, arroz con pollo, Sofrito, and so many other foods through your videos. Thank you so much!

All part of cooking! You take the base recipe and make it "your own".. which you did by adding the pickled jalapenos.

Ida, thank you so much for teaching me how to cook my culture food. My mother and father are both Puerto Rican and passed away when I was 23. I was an abuse child and my mother would always cook before she left for work, so when my brother & I got home our food was already made. I didn’t get the chance to learn with my mother what I’m learning with you and for that I am grateful. Mil gracias corazón ❤️🇵🇷 Denise Rivera

Man oh man. I lived in Italy for 3 years and everytime I want pollo guisado I make chicken cacciatore which is really good and similar. However day before yesterday I decided to make your pollo guisado estilo puertorro and Heaven!!! I had forgotten how good it was and packed with more flavor than my chicken cacciatore. Thank you!!!

I made this while following your video except we had store bought Sofrito in the fridge so I used that and chicken drumsticks. I want to thank you for posting this video because like you said "the end result was awesome". It tasted exactly how my mother used to make it when I was growing up. How I dearly miss her and her gift for cooking Boricua meals. My rice also came out perfect. Next time I will use your guide to make homemade Sofrito. My mother would not have done it any other way, so why should I. Again, thank you for posting this wonderful recipe and bringing back a part of my life that I've forgotten a long time ago. God Bless You.

I was in PR in June 2017 and fell in love with PR cuisine. I just made this dish and it is absolutely delicious. I am originally from Honduras, and now my cooking is a combination of Honduran & Puerto Rican. Muchisimas gracias.

    Thank you so much.
I tried this recipe the first time I ever made pollo guisado. It came out amazing. I'm definitely going to try your other recipes. Thanks again.
