A season pass for a single player game is scummy. It means they're withholding story content they've already finished and should've been in the game right off the shelf but instead they're going to drop a half-finished game for $70 and drip-feed the rest for another $70-$100.
Live service models on games, including Season Passes, Battle Passes and all the invasive cash shop options in between are a cancer on the gaming industry and it's no wonder there aren't many, if any good AAA games right now.

i dont even bother pirating ubisoft or EA games. im not consciously boycotting them. it just naturally happened as a result of their games being trash. Too many other good options to spend my time and money on. Their games are not even worth pirating. We will buy nothing and be happy about it. In time every player who plays their games will also experience this feeling that drove me away from their games. Business models like this can only a last for so long.
I would have pirated their previous 50 games if any of them were worth more than a glance and a 'meh'. As you say, the games literally aren't even worth my TIME, so bland they aren't worth playing even if free of charge.

I love how people used to be so excited for Ubisoft games to come out because they actually used to make good games and they weren’t so “scammy” now it’s kinda just a joke, I have lost almost all interest in anything Ubisoft releases. Yes I agree with you, very interesting to know, it kinda take you away from the have if you have to fork over more money just the added addition, however they should have it all in one included, at least must of it, really sucks🤨🤨🤨, and they even asking for pre order and the game won't be out for months, you don't know weather it will be a good game or not, haven't seen a full content of it to really decide🤨🤨🤨. I don't like getting all hype up on a up coming game, unless it's near launch, and if a lot of people talk good about it, then I will be interested to buy it, but really hate to find out later that the game really wasn't all that good as much as they try and promote it, really sucks, sunburst wake up from the pass, don't put a game out there just to make a quick buck, make sure it's really good to go, no bugs, glitches, so you won't have to go back to the drawing board because you put it out to soon when it still needed a lot of work to make it good. Instead of pushing something out there and taking our money on a game to be a flop, you get yours in return went people don't want to but it.

Just look at Capcom's Resident Evil series the remake ones the basically almost literally hard copies of the women they were modeled from as well as Kojima's Death Standing and Metal Gear Solid 4, I mean the Japanese can do it, then why can't the west..? Because it's deliberate..
Be a the west is obsessed in making sure you are gay and to make your family and friends be gay. And I’m actually not kidding about that too. They even ruined Aloy in forbidden west. They added a dlc where you can choose to make Aloy gay or no, and there’s zero reason for her to be gay when she has perfect romances with Erand I believe. I haven’t played the game yet but I seen shows and even play games with this agenda and it comes out of nowhere. Point is, the west is focus on that than making a good game and well written story.
The only thing that's deliberate is incels picking unflattering screenshots of female characters to make up a conspiracy theory. (Aloy is gorgeous in-game)
There are minor changes to the in-game character models in RE4 Remake too. More importantly, face models are not supposed to be always 1:1 copies. Developers can and will make changes if they need to.
Just look at Stellar Blade's protagonist.
Eve is based on a "real woman" yet the in-game character looks nothing like her and you can even see that they widened her thighs and hips in the game. I wonder why nobody complained about that..

I think I have a solution to the problem, after the game comes out just mod the main character to be a mandalorian ( I'm still seething over the mandalorian fps getting cancelled)
70 dollars for a game is pretty outrageous, especially when you get games like helldivers 2 for forty. Sure helldivers 2 might not have a story, but the game looks beautiful and no different from any AAA game in presentation. Plus they are adding things for free constantly. I really don't get the justification for paying 70 dollars towards a game that maybe gives you 50 hours of fun, and most of it is likely due to filler.
The ship of Theseus is making one last trip straight down to Davey Jone's locker then to hell. SW now is like an abandoned/destroyed Venator Class Star Destroyer that is drifting into the unknown regions to be forgotten.
Some games drop with season passes day 1... But an EXCLUSIVE mission on day 1 tied to that SAME season pass? Yeah, that's a HUGE no-no.
And even the season pass on day 1 is a little scummy. At least wait a month or something then go "hey, what do you think about DLCs or something? We've got some ideas we could cook with. You guys want that or nah?" and THEN release the season pass based on the answers.
Even call of duty only has two editions, and the more premium of the two is still cheaper than both of the ones here 🤣🤣 if activision is doing less of a scummy you’re in huge trouble
I swear the star wars IP should be given to smaller devs like Larian Studios or CD projekt red as example. Ubisoft lost its spark with their cookie cutter open world games ages ago. Give a chance and investment into a developer that has shown they are competend and passionate to create a game everyone wants to have. I hope the initial sells will send a clear idea to Ubisoft and their weird practices.

The conspiracy is that there's a secret cabal of feminists(?) purposefully "uglifying" female characters to subvert the male gaze. And their "evidence" is always some cherrypicked screenshot where the female character is making an unflattering facial expression. (You can literally do this with any character and make them look ugly, btw)

I get a lot of this controversy.. but not the price controversy. New games cost $60 when I was in middle school… that was in 2007. Video game prices have barely risen in nearly 2 decades. They are one of the cheapest forms of entertainment…. I mean how often are people buying games that this is such a problem?
3:50 there is some truth to it if my memory serves me correctly. That mess effect (prequal?) game did exactly that for exactly that reason. They showed their initial gameplay footage, got some backlash because their main character (fem) was "too hot" and then on final release she was "toned down" on the objectification front. Problem was that the first version looked nearly identical to the actress vs the final release that was just uncanny. I am not a woman, and I'm not gorgeous, so I can only speculate but if I played a character in a game, and everyone else got doppelgangers but they made my avatar deliberately "uglier" because I was too pretty, I'd be pretty freaking insulted.

Funny. When they did this "game-as-an-online-service" crap to _Splinter Cell: Conviction_ back in 2010, there didn't seem to be nearly as much brouhaha. And that was a single-player stealth game. There was *_ZERO_* reason to *_REQUIRE_* an internet connection to play that game. _Splinter Cell: Double Agent_ (the previous title) from 2006 was the last Ubisoft product I ever bought. Or ever _will_ buy. Where has everybody else been?

I think there is that one thing everyone is equally upset about. The absolutely ridiculous pricing. $110 minimum for the "complete" game. You got to fork out $40 extra to get DLC they cut that is ready day one, purely so they could sell it to you for more money. A subscription service they so desperately want you to adopt so you never get to own any games, while they get to sell you microtransactions for games you subscribe to access and don't own. Ubisoft is the worst company in gaming right now if you ask me. They've been bad for a good while, they are even the reason trailers have to disclaimer things being in-engine and so on after Watch Dogs sold a lie, but this is a whole other level. They are worse than stinky old EA now. They are worse than milk-snatching Blizzard. I'll stick to playing older games I got and I'll only buy games that come out in a state like Baldur's Gate 3 did, pretty d-mn complete and without any microtransactions and DLC garbage. They have even updated it above and beyond what they needed to.

I used to be such a hardcore Star Wars fan but situations like this where the IP is mistreated really made me distance myself away from a franchise I’ve stuck with my entire life. These companies continue to destroy the Star Wars brand and it’s sad to see.
I used to be as well, but between TFA, TLJ and Rebels, my interest faded rapidly. Now only the Expanded Universe exists to remind me of what it was.

Beyond the somewhat shady business practices for this game and the comments made by Ubisoft, the game looks decent. My only qualm is that it kinda looks like another Action Adventure game rather than more Open World RPG styled game (similar in many ways to how the 2 Jedi games operate)... A somewhat linear story path... I could be wrong... I would much rather see a game that takes some of the Action Adventure styled game play and mix it with how SWTOR handles story... Or at least a more open, play as you want, do stuff in the order you want, non-rails based game... I don't really want a rollercoaster ride where I make a few decisions now and then, but I'm still strapped to the coaster chair when it comes to how the game throws everything at me in a mostly linear way... Super linear games like the 2 Jedi games have little to no replay value beyond raising the difficulty rating next time... Where as, more open games allow far more variation in how you can play through the content... High Replay value and a really fun story, are key to a really good game in my book... As to the controversy, honestly, I don't really care if the characters look or don't look like their voice actors... As long as the character looks decent, that is all that matters to me... Sometimes I think folks look for any possible patterns or reasons to latch onto what they feel could lead to a controversy, even when there was no sinister plot or purposeful design on the part of the developers, in order to be the first ones to initiate drama where none may have actually existed... Is this one of those cases? For the game itself, I doubt it... For the game companies business practices when it comes to game costs and the whole season junk (a trend I find super annoying across the whole gaming industry) and the internet required junk (you would think that when Diablo 3 got ridiculed Hard for it's internet requirement that the industry would see that a majority of folks don't want that, especially if it's a single player game), while I understand some of it, most of it I call shenanigans...

Star Wars was officially finished in April 2014. That's when Disney made the Expanded Universe noncanon. There's a very important distinction to be made. Disney Star Wars is hideous. I love the REAL Star Wars. The Expanded Universe is the _real_ canon, regardless of whatever fucking suit tries to say otherwise. Now, I will say, there are _some_ bright spots to be found. However, I just can't say with a straight face that enough of Disney Star Wars is good enough to be the superior canon. Especially considering that, from the inception of and to the end of the Expanded Universe, Lucasarts took surprisingly great care to make the universe cohesive between writers. That stories were not allowed to contradict other stories by other writers and obviously not the movies. And then Disney just erases... What, 30? 28? years of established lore for the puke they came up with?
