@@intarz you download an emulator for the 3DS like citra. Then you find the rom files for the 3DS and run them on the emulator. You can also emulate games for the PS2 and PSP(you'll need a different emulator for that though)
I wouldn’t say, deserve. It’s just how things work. I don’t think the 3ds homebrew will ever compete with letterbomb for the Wii, so easy, and arguably better games

For anyone who plans to mod their 3DS: check if it’s NOT updated to the latest update (Ver. 11.17.0-50U) Nintendo released an update on May 22, 2023 that prevents 3DS from being modded. If it is updated, don’t try modding it as it may damage the system. If it’s NOT updated, you can mod it. And those who have a modded 3DS: don’t update your system unless you have downloaded the latest update of Luma3DS, otherwise your system will be bricked with out it.
I've modded my new 2ds XL about an hour ago (Aug 5, 2023). First, I updated the firmware to the latest official version 17.0.50 then followed a youtube guide video from 3 weeks ago (July 2023). It was way easier than I expected. SInce I own a switch, PlayStation and a high end laptop with emulators and full of roms. I'm not sure if I'll be playing on my new 2ds xl though. That's a first world problem right there.
For anyone wondering why you would download these games if you already own them the main reasons I can think of are 1: going on vacation or just traveling and you don’t want to pack a bunch of games that take up more room in your luggage 2: no need to go through all your games to find the ones you want 3: it’s just more convenient

That’s what I want to do. I had bought 5 games (still have the box the games came in, well at least for 2 since I had bought 2 used version of the games in a store that sells used games and the 3rd I lost the box with the cartridge) that I had bought years ago as a kid. 3 games were Pokémon. In fact it was Pokémon Pearl, Mario Kart DS (both games were used so I don’t have the box), Pokémon Black (but lost both cartridge and box) Pokémon Y and Pokémon Omega Ruby (still have the game boxes for both games. But I never even got to finish Omega Ruby.) I just am not sure if it would be considered piracy. I’d rebuy them used again but I can’t find someone who sells them at an affordable price. And one person tried to scam me with a broken game. I like those stores better where you go to and can test out if the games work. That’s how I got Mario Kart and Pokémon Pearl (although I don’t really want to get Mario Kart again. Just the Pokémon games.) but nowadays you usually only get used games in online stores and there’s no guarantee they work plus they tend to be sold at a ridiculous price. What’s even weirder is that someone tried to sell a used version of the newest Pokémon game, Pokémon Violet for more money than what it costs new. I saw that when I went to buy the Pokémon Violet for my Switch.

If you can get a good deal on a new 3ds or new 3ds xl definetly go for those istead. Build Quality is better and the new 3ds xl has a more comfortable grip to use the R and L shoulder buttons. Its also more repair friendly (except top screen of course). I know what Im talking about, because I ordered a used 2ds xl and wasnt happy at all, but maybe I just got bad luck.

I bought a replacement battery for it, only for me to struggle with getting it to function correctly and not be in storage mode. Which lead to days where the console would outright not turn on after a day of use. I’m expecting a new battery in the mail after the last one refused to work properly, and if all else fails, I’m keeping the SD card and I may end up buying another model that’ll actually work perfectly.
I had my 3DS modded last year & I’ve been getting homebrew for it like netpass & twilight menu ++. I recently upgraded from the original 4GB card to 32GB card since I moved over my original data from my old 3DS from 2017. Some games are insanely large though, like captain toad’s treasure tracker at 6,000 blocks but I have more space now. My favorite game that I’ve had since it came out would have to get mega man legacy collection which is kinda cheating but the collection itself has its own challenges that are unique to it if you have the gold mega man amiibo which I made sure to get lol. Since I got it I’ve put 183 hours into it & it’s made me better at playing games in general so I’ll always have a soft spot for it
Always wanted one but too scared to do it myself. Thus I am just growing my physical game collection. Still not bad but having a modded da would be so cool.

i have a few modded 3ds's including a snes new 3ds and there great as you always need a digital copy of a game you aready have!
Best reasons to mod 3ds 1: themes 2: piracy 3: piracy ( i agree the 3ds has a great library of games) i like the homebrew apps and game mods too
