I feel like High Elves have a unique niche against Tzeentch because of all the fire resist they have access to. Teclis on a phoenix also does very well.
I would even prefer Teclis here. Tzeentch should have blue fired the caster -> no caster means no heals.
Better off with the arcane on its own. You get a vortex and don’t need to waste potions to heal since rebirth actually works consistently

This is timely, I'm actually reading the Caledor book that heavily features Imrik early on the Asur Saga where the Cults of Pleasure are starting to spread throughout Ulthuan and the Phoenix King is looking for ways to purge them and bring Nagarythe to heel without full-scale invasion. Anyway, first off, I did not know that his dragon could talk and has a fun personality (the dragon giving Imrik's young child a spanking with his tail for being rude was hilarious - even more so with Irik being cool with it - "he was rude and deserved it - his mother has been too soft with him" LOL). In short though, he's a total monster in terms of combat, even without the dragon so I guess this is an accurate depiction. Thanks as always Indy o7
That's not this Imrik. That Imrik is Imrik the First, who would become the Phoenix King Caledor the Conqueror. He was such a legend that he turned Malekith into his own personal punching bag and personally kicked the Dark Elves out of Ulthuan. He was so powerful and so pre-eminent a general that he makes Tyrion look like an amateur.
Yeah that is a different character. You are reading about Caledor the conqueror. I imagine him to be the Imrik’s in game great great great grandpa

I get that Imrik is a really solid choice gameplay-wise and is a heavy hitter in the High Elves meta but I also feel that he is the sort of dude that always goes to the toilet during his round and always tells you he is going on to your party but then just doesn't show up and ghosts your texts about it.

Imrik seems like he would be honest about you (he constantly insults even if you are friendly with him in diplomacy)
Honestly, in lore he's sorta the opposite. He will tell you he's not going to the party. Imrik has never broken his word. He's the one elf that the Dragons actually like in "modern" times.
@@BrokenShale I honestly find that to be really funny. Everyone, including other elves, rightfully think he's an obnoxious douchebag. And meanwhile the dragons have no problem with him.
@@BrokenShale Fair play. Maybe my High Elf prejudice is to blame. I'm a Lizardman fan myself. I love the idea of a society that is entirely without personal ego. Even their leaders are to absorbed with contemplating a greater purpose (The Great Plan) to be interested in pursing self-serving ends.

Imrik is not only a nightmare in campaign but in battle as well. Especially with that built in fire resist against missile troops with only fire
I'm about 60 turns into a campaign with him, he has crazy synergy with fire mage/fire damage units on top of being a raid boss himself.
@@mcsqueeb187 yeah, Imrik is really fun. It's a bit of an exercise in patience at the beginning, you can't expand as quickly as you'd like to but once you finally do break out you have two or three basically invincible armies and will just streamroll everything.
Now that is an elite Asur army. I was expecting a few Swordmasters rounded out with archers but dang, that's a sweet force for cutting through heavy armour.
This makes me remember how much more I enjoy watching land battles.

Would it have been a foolish strat to just rush Kairos with Imrik and defeat him quickly (stronger and faster) so that the demons start to crumble after?
Imrik wouldn't have caught Kairos and would of just been kited about, while Kairos keeps casting spells. Even if he did catch him for a moment, Kairos could just pull away then heal himself up paired with the shields. It would of been a waste of time for the most part which you don't want with a lord as impactful as Imrik.
Would of been a waste of time. Karios is faster and has a net spell and healing and a shield that recharges. Better to kill literally anyone else
Definitely not, Kairos just has to flee, Imrik is worth more than Kairos here and kairos can still use pendulum while fleeing while Imrik il doing nothing for hisnarmy

Kairos is incredibly tanky and has a very high amount of barrier. It's not possible to efficiently hunt him down at all, even with Be'lakor. He can fly away, pin you down with gaze of fate, and you can't stop him from constantly casting unless you have a Khatep. Your time is best spent elsewhere. The best counter is usually to get a lord resilient against blue fire spam, or a cheap lord with a powerful army, or a lord against whom it doesn't work (Teclis or Imrik)

It's either Imrik or Teclis. They have stupid fire resist, and blue fire spam doesn't work against them.

Is it ever worth bringing the sword masters as high elves if the enemy doesn't have super elite infantry? I could be wrong but the White Lions seem so cost effective I can't see why you would need to go up to SM unless you're fighting something like chosen of khorne or har ganeth executioners.
Tzeentch isn't the only one finding it hard to fight High Elves. Literally every Khorne Lord does fire damage. Blood Brute Behemoth is the only viable option.
No kidding, imagine my shock when I lose to spearmen with a full stack of exalted bloodletters, just because Imrik gives his campaign armies a massive fire resist buff. Even with 1k weapon damage, Skarbrand can't hurt him with his huge, flaming axe!
Khorne actually doesn't fare that badly against HE in competitive multiplayer. You just need to go very wide, with probably Valkia as the lord, and grind them down with non-fire damage infantry. The matchup is fairly even, and might even be in Khorne's favour.
If imirik shoots strawberry milkshakes, does that mean pink horrors shoot pink lemonade? or maybe pink gatorade?

I think their sorcerer lords can be shadow, metal, fire or Tzeentch (maybe beasts but I could easily be wrong, haven’t played Tzeentch in a while)

pink horrors dont have a ton of AP, and they also do fire and magic and fire damage, both of which Imrik has a ton of resistance to.

I was surprised the elite front line worked as well as it did against ranged-spam Tzeentch. Lions are nice for this match since they work against Chaos Warriors and the range spam.
Kairos with regrowth and a soul grinder or 2 would be able to kill Imirk I believe, as long as you make sure every engagement is a 2 vs 1 against Imirik. I think soul grinders need some more thought, now we have mortal units nobody even thinks about the big daemon units anymore.
If he had a soul grinder or two, he'd lose the game. What Kairos needed to do here was focus more on the life mage and infantry with his blue fire spam, try to keep the Wyrd Spawn alive, and grind him down in the 4th quarter.

would be pretty boring if people ran the most powerful spells in every single replay. when Pit of Shades was super busted, i stopped showing videos with it

is lion pelt better vs tzeentch than shields in your opinion?
mathematically not sure how it works out tbh. missile resist helps from all angles, while missile block chance I think only functions as a cone in front. so at least from flank or rear shots, missile resistance is better.
