He is my Centerpiece in my Dark Angels Army and the start of my Knights army. I love him even in Display with the Deathwing Knights and the Lion...he makes an impressive Centerpiece
Just took a Canis Rex model with my Knights at Tacoma Open today, played against Tau where he was single handedly responsible for removing about 800 points of them, was a good display of what he is really capable of!
He shouldn’t have. Statistically speaking he had pretty good odds of surviving. Canis will still only average 3.3 attacks even with 10 hits that make it through the save of a ctan, and since they’re all cut in half damage that’s only 5 damage, and because of their 5+ fnp you’re likely to survive with 1-2 wounds if only 3 get through to actually damage. It could go either way, but the fact there’s a good chance it survives is insane. This is why ctan are so hated lol, they’re still odds on to still survive against 10 strength 20 ap 3 damage 9 attacks, and they’re less than 300 pts. Plus void dragon would’ve also likely at least taken off his worth of wounds of canis if he did survive to fight back (he’s likely taking off ~15 wounds from canis in one fight phase). Ctan are insane for their cost stat wise, and are really only a balanced because victory points win games and winning individual fights doesn’t. They’re basically in the same boat of Deathwing knights where they can often “win the battle but lose the war”
@@bulldozer8950 Unfortunately none of that happened. He lost 2 transcendent ctan turn 2, turn 3 he lost the nightbringer and void dragon. Then he conceded
Currently building Canis Rex. My first and only model. This will be my test to see if I have the time and motivation to have this hobby. Because painting up like 60 little infantry guys is a lot, but only a small part of an Imperial Guard Army. So Rex will serve as a superheavy to fill up my points and be a place holder until I lean wtf I'm doing. Until then, he's one heck of a distraction; you can fear what he might do, while everything else takes up positions.
I had a hard time fighting knights with my Tau with Ret Cad. detachment. Canis rex was picking up models in quick succession but then he also had all the auto cannons with ant fly 2+,it was a quick game :D
A couple notes on stratagems: Heroic was changed to 1CP base, so canis can heroic for free now. Imperial knights have the Thunderstomp stratagem for devastating wounds in melee. Combine this with Epic Challenge, Legendary Freeblade, army rule rerolls, and Canis's absurd strike profile, and you have a 1CP near-guaranteed character-sniping melee combo that works in both players's turns.
iirc assassination would still trigger against Canis Rex because the canis rex "model" is still destroyed, thus counting as a destroyed character model, but only denies BiD
Make sure to read the full rule. The last line of Canis' ability states that he does not count as destroyed until Sir Hector is destroyed. This means that you can score assassinate twice off of him (one for robot, one for human), you have to kill both or you get nothing
@@cauldinkyle6359 assassinate was changed to models instead of units, and both models have the character keyword. The Hekhtur rule states “when the Canis Rex *model* is destroyed”. So you can score assassinate twice if you kill both, but you still get it if you kill only the knight. Bring it down requires the unit death still so you need to kill both for that
Correction to the Sir Hekhtur rule, Assassinate looks at model destroyed and not the unit. Meaning it does get scored when Canis Rex the suit is destroyed, even while Sir Hekhtur is alive. Assassinate can even be scored twice (once for Canis the knight, and again for Sir Hekhtur) when playing Fixed, or just once as normal when playing Tactical.
You can still use it. Super heavy walker is a general keyword similar to aircraft that has specific rules. It just so happens that it’s mostly used in knights or chaos knights (though I believe there’s a couple exceptions). But it’s still just a general rule for how all super heavy walkers in the game function.
If you can, focus their tanks and any anti-armor they have; if they're using two of them, Eldar Scorpion tank is capable of possibly taking out even a REAVER TITAN in one shooting phase. Just with main weapon only (6A/5D, 3+BS, ST18, AP3 at 60"). That's ignoring the fact that they can have a secondary weapon alongside it
I dont like canis rex. Hes great in melee but tends to do nothing at range. His main thing is something u didnt mention. Hes cheap compared to other big knights So if u want to free up points for another small knight or allies, hes a good option
Canis still has good shooting at range. D6 shots hitting on 2s with blast and sustained on 5s for 4 damage a piece. And no, it's not cheaper than most Knights. There are 9 cheaper than Canis, and of the 5 more expensive, 3 of them are either Dominus or Cerastus Knights.
"Alright 5 swings. Okay 8 hits, 8 wounds, all damage 9."
"I'm sorry you fucking what?"
"5 hits, 4 crits, let's reroll one... and that's all crits"
Cap'n Canis: Oops All Crits

I used Canis Rex against Necrons today. Strike into the Void Dragon and I rolled 4 6's and 1 5 on the hit roll. My opponent surrendered on the spot.

One combination I've enjoyed is Immolator ignores cover to make his guns a bit more reliable.
I'm taking him with my Sisters. I have a really great proxy Nundam!

Destroy the big knight to score assassination, then next round get the pilot to score bring it down. Feels exactly backwards 🙂

I love him in my Black Templars list
Canis Rex in a Custodes 2000pt army, that's what I would like!
That’s exactly what I bought him for hahaha
I really want Chaos Knights to get a named knight like this with similar pilot mechanics
He is completely nuts. if Chaos had anything like this he would definitely be in over dogs. Especially if this was the Ravenger.
heroic intervention is only 1 cp now
Some numberth!
just had a game against Knights, Ghaz was not impressed by those tincans

No it doesn't
Canis rex does not count as being destroyed until the pilot is killed but you will score it twice when Sir is killed
@@TheRedeyedrag5read the pariah nexus card. The above comment by @liveitup1216 is correct
If you take him as an ally you cannot use his super heavy walker ability becuae thats an army faction rule correct?
You can because it's naturally on his sheet and does not have the "if your army is imperial knights" stipulation.

Got any tips for winning against Aeldari with Knights? I can't seem to win!
list to fix

Avatar of khaine is good, any big ap in melee is good against any of the knights except lancer.
Yeah, I have the problem of 2 very hard to catch fire prisms and an Avatar always screening
@@mikemcguinness92 Yeah and its a bad matchup cause of there magic dice they can use to get a bunch of 6s to auto lethal or wound you
Off topic, have you done any list reviews pros/cons of running World Eaters without Angron for Pariah Nexus?

Knight, not titan.
has the titan keyword. get rekt
I deleted a knight with a pair of vindicators in one turn. The look on the other players face was glorious lol.
Imperial og chaos vindicators?
First!
second!

Something not mentioned. You can use his ability to use cp-reroll on number of shots to make him more consistent.
What is this meta chasing bullshit.
