The Warlord, at the very least, needs some rules for Void Shields. Either ignore damage (not FNP, just discard a damage dice for a Void Shield point) or actual FNP that degrades with shield integrity.
Maybe the Void Shields could work like "once per turn, ignore damage from one unit". So even if the opponent piles on shots, they can only do so much. (It only works a bit per round, because volume of fire taxes the Void Shields).

Agreed. I'd love to see ruleset for titan-level models (and even knights) that went into detail to give the kind of depth that the setting deserves, something akin to Battletech but more grimdark-y. Hell, just a subset of 'titan crew' abilities and rules within 40k would be neat - if my opponent gets to wield an entire army's worth of abilities, why wouldn't a titan have almost the same? Having crew abilities to represent built-in rerolls, granting dev wounds, using weapons to create terrain effects (since they would LITERALLY be reshaping the battlefield with almost every shot, the notion of being to do area denial would be a unique ability of only titan-level weapons and a niche that they could exploit), etc.
The fact that the Knights have weapons with better AP and more damage than the warlord’s ranged guns is silly. The fact that the knights have a better invuln than the Warlord is just stupid. Other than the power fist, the whole thing just seems a waste of time.
Indeed, the Sun Fury Annihilator should be, "Pick a table quarter. Every unit in that quarter takes a bucket load of wounds. Every other unit on the table receives a painful sunburn."
in theory Warlord could be skewed with equipment more towards anti knight, swapping apocalypse launchers for tri-laser blasters (12 S16 -4 D6+3 dmg) and plasma for volcanno cannon (D3+3 S32 -5 18 dmg so would wound knights on 2+) or even quake cannon ( 3D6 S16 -4 6 dmg)

That was an awesome battle. And it really is odd that the Warlord doesn't get shields or critical hits of any kind. There were really only two units on the board that could reliably hurt the Warlord, but it's insane how much more tough they were.
40 shots from the apocalypse launchers, at a range of 200 inch. All the gribblies would be decimated before they got close. 120 inch for the Belicosa will deal with anything big, plus the gattling cannon on the fist will do some damage to anything close
This ALMOST seemed balanced. It needs one more to hit across the board and dev wounds on everything. That CP restriction is silly too. Fun video. Congrats on 400k.

Based on this video, I think the easiest ways to make the Warlord somewhere close to decent would be a 6+ Feel No Pain (at least), and a Weapons/Ballistic Skill better than 4+
Considering the massive number of people whose sole job in life is to be hardwired into the Titan’s weapon systems, it really should be a to hit of 2+ which is always immune to modifiers, or a 2+ reroll 1s. Also, it’s main gun needs to be at least as strong as it’s own toughness. Frankly the Titan should just be massively less random as the reward for its size. D3+ 9 instead of D6 +6, that kinda thing. Also my god the per shot damage on the rockets and plasma gun are pathetic.
if i was playing against you i'd let you homebrew some rules. Like you said in the other video 2k points. Plasma gun: sustained hits and lethal hits 5+ Ardex lascannon: 2 shots each (4), twin linked Void Shields: you'd have 6 2+ inv saves to start. kinda like artificer armor on the sgt in 5th ed, as soon as one fails it's gone. attacks do not carry over. once the void shields are down then you fall to the armor saves. 4+ inv/ 5+ fnp against everything Immovable Object: If this model has remained stationary during the movement phase, it gains +1 to hit for all ranged weapons Praise the Omnissiah: at the start of each of this army's command phase, roll 3 dice. on a triple 4+, gain one void shield back to a maximum of 6
Instead of stepping over cover like knights do, I think that any cover that titans step into should just be removed off the table. -so any fences, trenches, houses they are just not bothered by. they can just walk or charge across the table like it was an open field.
I like the theory of this, but the 6 2++ would be Incredibly powerful alone. Maybe giving the titan permanent 5+++ and 5++, with the first 6 failed saves being a 4++, alongside the heavy to all weapons.
While I don't think it would've changed a whole lot, Guy was very unfortunate with the ol' dice rolls. But I also think it was a big mistake going for Canis Rex before the Castellan with the guns that was sporting. I'm not sure a different target priority would've really changed a great deal though. Having its defenses almost purely be on a large wound count isn't enough. A 5++ invulnerable just doesn't cut it, it should probably be a 3++ against most stuff, but maybe have it be reduced to a 4 or 5 up against attacks above its toughness or something like that - so smaller fire does next to nothing, but big shots are still a threat. AND it should certainly have a FNP. Then offensively I will say I'm torn. I kinda like the "idea" that its a big lumbering behemoth who might struggle to hit things dead on with pin point accuracy. So the 4+ to hit does somewhat make sense, but realistically in game terms it probably just hurts too much, especially given how easily it was bracketed. I would probably suggest something along the lines of the big arm guns working a bit differently, a natural 1 is a miss, a 2-4 the target gets caught in a blast radius and takes hits at lower strength/AP, but a 5+ is a Lethal hit or something like that.
@@MidwinterMinis Yeh, its understandable, perhaps I just overestimate how killy the warlord SHOULD be, but the key word is "if it gets close", in theory if you'd gone for the Castellan first - which is dangerous at range, you - again in theory, would still have time to target down Canis Rex before it got too close. Sunfury cannon really should be like Strength 30 and deal like 12+2d6 wounds and even that does not live up to the power of it in the lore because it will literally evaporate hive cities. Also it would be great if they made a rule for the warlord that allows it to just walk through any terrain and any terrain it walks through turns in rubble that counts and difficult terrain but the warlord ignores difficult terrain.
Titan SPA should be damage 12, 18 when overcharged, and damage should be dealt as though they were dev wounds after saves. make it worthwhile at over 3000pts
Awesome report! Had me thinking about a lot of rules that need to be in place for a Warlord Titan. Like: Void Shields. 10 or 20. Expend 1 to negate a hit (2 to negate a crit?). Crits: all weapons, on a 6, autowound. Does the Titan have a Stomp attack? It should. Power Fist: use 5 hits to simply throw any model less than 10" tall off the battlefield. tldr: it's a Titan, and should do Titan things.

I think it has to be said that this particular warlord would have done a lot better if it was using any of it's anti-tank weapons like the belicosa volcano cannon or it's laser blasters. It's still over costed and lacks panache with it's weapons (the Sunfury not having dev wounds is criminal) and NEEDS it's void shields back

A simple rule to somewhat fix the warlord would be MAGNA-PATTERN VOID SHIELDS - warlord titan saves are never modified til the titan is bracketed. I dont know what to do about how anaemic the weaponry is though.
I feel that the Belicosa Volcano Cannon would have suited the opposition better. Sure, you'd shoot less. But, whatever you land wounds on woudl've help bracket enemies faster. Food for thought! Great game!

Sunfury cannon really should be like Strength 30 and deal like 12+2d6 wounds and even that does not live up to the power of it in the lore because it will literally evaporate hive cities. Also it would be great if they made a rule for the warlord that allows it to just walk through any terrain and any terrain it walks through turns in rubble that counts and difficult terrain but the warlord ignores difficult terrain.
that was a really fun and quality battle report :) I loved the banter between the two of you really made for a fun video
They did this model dirty by redoing the void shields.
One of the funniest and most enjoyable 40k videos watched lately.
Warhammer 40k is a perfectly balanced game with no exploits.
The titan versus an endless swarm list would be a lot of silly dice rolling fun.
Now I want to see your titan squash your ork horde
In a game... right? Not physically...
@@MidwinterMiniseither will be satisfactory
or 2000 points of just grots
@@2P4E i think it would still lose that fight
It doesn’t matter where or when, but seeing a Cradle of Filth tshirt always makes me smile
I normally dont like watching battle reports, but there is something special about yours. By the way, how did you make those midwinter minis banners/flags?
EDIT: 25:14 sliiiide to the left
Titans need their Voidshields back.
I did this with the legions Imperialis warlord titan, with a 1000 point game and still lost, no objectives just fighting
I might just be bad at this game lol
Titans in LI are support units, if you're fighting them alone they're weak. Especially if it's a ranged titan in CC.
My god that castellan looks epic! Why does the original not look like this!? 👌
hitting on a 4+ in melee just hurts, like, that's the same as a knight armiger stomping on you
Great report. Fun to see the big boys on the table
The wide angle view at 7:48 looks like the Titan is about to take on multiple children in this fight.
Very cool to see a battle with the Titan and Knights.
HYDROGEN BOMB
VS
COUGHING BABY
I think it has to be said that this particular warlord would have done a lot better if it was using any of it's anti-tank weapons like the belicosa volcano cannon or it's laser blasters. It's still over costed and lacks panache with it's weapons (the Sunfury not having dev wounds is criminal) and NEEDS it's void shields back
Love your videos that great you’re the reason I got into warhammer
Thanks mate!
@@MidwinterMinis yeah, you’re awesome 🤩🤩🤩
now i’ve been waiting for this one 😍😍😍
Epic! Guy we’ve got a whole discussion thing going in your old Bringers Of Decay video. A lot of the colors you used back then have changed quite a bit since then? Would you consider revisiting the paint scheme as a video idea? Maybe a comparison between then and now as a study on how paints change over time? That vid have been trending lately on the DG subreddit. Love from Denmark
A simple rule to somewhat fix the warlord would be
MAGNA-PATTERN VOID SHIELDS - warlord titan saves are never modified til the titan is bracketed.
I dont know what to do about how anaemic the weaponry is though.
So happy. I have this exact army! I'm gonna play it...
Should have gone with a volcano cannon and laser blasters lol. That power claw is hilarious though 😂
I feel that the Belicosa Volcano Cannon would have suited the opposition better. Sure, you'd shoot less. But, whatever you land wounds on woudl've help bracket enemies faster. Food for thought! Great game!
Ahhhhh boiiiiii, more games, more fights, lets see if orka can beat it!!!
HEY, thanks for your videos, helped me paint most of my DnD miniatures, with real colour, it just grey scale!
I'll show you pictures at the next Games Expo of ya want 😅
Amazing as always guy!
Thanks matey!
That volcano lance is savage! ... it does appear to be somewhat over powered
That Titan's machine spirit must've been REALLY drunk to have made that many misses lmao
Warlord should have a ton of special rules for when it moves. Like movement can destroy terrain and infantry models it moves over die instantly. I mean realistically that what should happen anyway.
It’s really more of a decorative piece with the actual gameplay being an afterthought.
18:54 I chuckled quite a bit at the "Canis Rex" proxy here
Man, Steve's knights are a treat to look at.
Love when you do battle reports Guy. Makes me want to play.
Whoever loses, we all win.
The painting on that Sun Fury Annihilator is so spicy. 🤩
Both forces look great, and I especially like the Assassin based off the Ad Mech Rust Stalker.
The Titan should be able to pick up vehicles and throw them at other targets.
Great video! I'm very looking forward to see what it does against Tyranids.
I also would like for you to come up with rules for the Warlord that feel right for the setting and to make it balanced for its 2000/3500 points.
(Just saw the intro so far)
So bassically this game is, the mini bosses vs the raid boss
I love it
I believe the knights will win, but I will be rooting for the titan
Thus was a hilarious battle report, I loved every moment
The warlord should have an option to throw the little knights
Warlord Titan vs Your Orks, so we can see it play against a 'normal' army list.
Loved this video, would happily watch a re match with Guys proposed improvements from the last video
5:42 I bet that the Warlord Titan will kill everything, but lose by Victory Points.
15:03 ....I've seen enough. I can't watch the rest of this video, seeing stuff like this just makes met want to give up on playing 40k completely :
