Too expensive compared to just using a drone with a gun and also with ECM equipment becoming standard issue for modern armies you simply need to isolate the control frequency and jam it. Having onboard AI control would need too much electronics making it too expensive and even if it didn’t, AI is currently still hilariously bad at differentiating friend from foe meaning they’d be a hazard not only to your enemy, but civilians and your own forces.
P.S I’d recommend doing the de-mining task without a drone because you can find a CSAT APC that you can actually repair and drive back to base, with its full ammo load as well. But don’t expect it to survive for too long, cause you can’t fully repair it without a repair vehicle (and I don’t see a way to get one without cheats, although you might be able to find one at an abandoned CSAT base, I didn’t check though).
You can repair it at the UNA base, there is a repair truck there, I did that and the rest of the mission was really easy just destroying rebels with ease as they only have short range RPG.
A town getting hit by a swarm of drone is the exact kind of thing I expect we’ll see in the next couple of decades. Can’t wait for the UA-cam history channels to make a documentary on it
I never thought the name Shenzhen will appear anywhere in ARMA. That was utterly unexpected. For those who don’t know, Shenzhen is a real City name in China, right next to HongKong.
Eh, there'll be human oversight for at least a few more decades. The real concern is 200 dollar drones delivering a 5kg explosive in swarms of 50 on marine squads, which happens in the Crumbling Empires book series, which documents a war between the US and China.
That is literally the future of warfare, us Americans came up with the absolutely not stupid idea of mounting a gun on one of those dog-robots. It’s a military variant, bigger than the one that can dance, I’m pretty sure it’s the size of a Saint Bernard.

i am actually really impressed with the CDLC, i like that you can actually use the gear in the vanilla game and the gear is simple yet very detailed and well done. its a shame that the game is currently dead from a public standpoint and no servers are running the new CDLC. And as for the map size, its unfortunate that the map is so small, however there are plenty of well made desert maps out there and I think the developers are aware of this.

Completely with you! the amount already on the map is good, but I'd like a whole lot more between the areas even if it's open sand! we can fill it in as we wish in the editor if we want! the maps so empty and runs so well that it gives us a lot of leeway on adding more objects to it.
