Mary, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge of wood carving, Your explanations are both understandable and thoughtful. Love your work, Michael
Gonna try out the iron tomorrow, that's a cool idea. The tip for curves is fantastic, where you cut out little bits of the design so that you can put dots on the wood and join them up. I have no idea why I never thought of that. Thank you!
I use rolls of vinyl flashing for my stencils. You can get it fairly inexpensively at most hardware stores in widths of 10" to 24". You can also vaccuform this vinyl to fit irregular shapes before laying out your stencil. It's a little thicker and can get a bit brittle if very cold but it's a good stencil material and great to run a pencil against the edge
thanks for the video. I would like to point out that there are color laser printers that could make a color transfer. I haven't tried it, but it seems worth a try to see if it would work.
Hello My name is James Rakestraw. I from Augusta, Georgia. I have watch your videos on UA-cam. Want is the name of the wood? You work with... and want name of paper?
This is walnut. There is carbon paper and transfer paper where you can trace the design. The plastic is either a page divider at an office supply store or a chopping mat at a restaurant supply store.
I have found this woodworking book “pepe amazing plan” (Google it) well suited for me. Some of the topics talked about in the book include woodworking methods, explanation on the development cycles of trees, and different lumber features that carpenters favor. I also gave my father another copy.
Transfer paper! That’s the technique I’ve been looking for. Thanks for making this video.

THanks for the vidoe.
Thank you much. I have no art talent at all so just starting out, I need to use other peoples art. This is a lifesaver.
You have an Artistic, within yourself. Please develop it.

VERY VERY GOOD
Thanks mem
Great video! Can you send me a copy of your template
I just look for a picture on the Internet, take tracing paper and copy it. Then I use carbon paper to transfer it. Simple
Don’t buy thin aluminium for templates, a soft drink can is similar thin metal.
cool
how does inexpensive tools differ from expensive one other than price?
