@@martywhitevan He probably wasn't even joking about ketchup tho, It adds sugar and a bit of tomato taste which I could see being appreciable in a recipe like this.
Wait, which one? Poseidon/Neptune seems the most logical. Or maybe the Titans before them, so Oceanus? Atlaua from Central/South America maybe? Or Ægir if you're in the Nordic area? Maybe I should just wait for a reply because I could go on for a while listing all the gods of the oceans.
@joelabo Who is the question addressed to? Normally if you don't use the reply function, it is for the original poster, but that person seems to be religious based off of the sentence posted.
Montreal's own! I'm so proud! I remember when I was working near St-Laurent street at a corner store ( on St-Dominique), Dave would come in (and he was twice the size back then) with his dirty apron looking for produce because he'd just run out. I think he was working for The Globe or Le Blanc back then and I had no idea he and Fred would become as big as they are now.
These guys know how to prepare food. You can see they're not wannabe chefs that just want a cooking show, they make real food meant to be eaten with passion.
These guys look great! Loving the weight loss! Obvi the food content is on point, as per usual. My best friends and I flew to Montreal just to eat at Joe Beef. Totally worth it!
Haha. He is a legend of Quebec. Their restaurant in Montreal named Joe beef has been around awhile but if you're not near Quebec you may have never heard of it.
These guys are great. The dry humor and thoughtful explanations are in perfect balance. Munchies needs more chefs like these, vs. hipsters from Brooklyn making "Southern Inspired" terds.
Not only are these two gentlemen incredible chefs that are VERY well respected by their peers, Their knowledge about fine dining and the culture and everything that it entails is surpassed by no one. These two could easily teach a Master course on gastronomy at ANY leading university in the world.
My wife is Ukrainian she makes Pelmini all the time, and I'm Canadian, I don't really feel the Quebecoise essence in this dish, but good job overall, what's not to love? it's Pelmini and Lobster with a nice sauce from the shell, bravo dish, but not Quebecoise cooking during the apocalypse.
Chefs thank you from the bottom of my heart! And absolutely correct the Pelmeni is something that was done often by the entire village community. By grandmother's. Often with pork and game something you could hunt. Like ground bear or venison. Would make enough to last through Siberian winter and cold travel with hunter sack you have everything in it that's your main your soup or chaser for vodka . Beautiful take on with lobster and Amazing that you kept its truly traditional shape . I believe those are Siberian. There are also Uralian and Altay!
Oysters are all over the Mediterranean, and so are lemons! This is also the case on the Moroccan Atlantic coast. they have some of the best lemons and oysters. What are you talking about?
You don't need space to cook! Makes it easier, but the best cooks only need enough room to stand in and a tabletop as large as a school desk. Get an induction range or a small burner setup and you're in business, baby!!
What about oysters and Yuzu? That’s definitely found in japan, and a very close relative to lemon. I don’t understand the logic. Just because it doesn’t come from the same area, doesn’t mean they can’t work. There can be substitutes for everything that can work.
Joe Beef is one of Canada's best restaurants. They're not just focused on beef, matter of fact the Beef in 'Joe Beef' references an actual person. Do a little research and the restaurant and the guy it's named for will be worth the effort.
he looked so sinister when he said KALE lol
Seeing them makes me miss Anthony Bourdain.
mende75 big facts.

@@martywhitevan He probably wasn't even joking about ketchup tho, It adds sugar and a bit of tomato taste which I could see being appreciable in a recipe like this.
amylase breaks conplex starch to sugars. so, yeah.
I'm not eating at his house! lol
Lobster and Dumplings? That's what I call a gift from God
Ijeoma Obi you ain’t never lied ...yum 👨🏾🍳😍👌🏾

Haven’t seen these gents since they passed the whiskey bottle in the back of a truck with Anthony Bourdain when he visited Montreal.
That was the Pied au Cochon owner, Martin Picard.
These guys know how to prepare food. You can see they're not wannabe chefs that just want a cooking show, they make real food meant to be eaten with passion.

Wow David has lost so much weight! Congratulations man
Is it bad that when I saw the title I thought it was a guy named Joe Beef?
Haha. He is a legend of Quebec. Their restaurant in Montreal named Joe beef has been around awhile but if you're not near Quebec you may have never heard of it.

Problem is there's not a lot of those running the streets, especially not ones with that much experience.
If you’ve been watching these videos for a while now, you’d have noticed their first book on the shelf in the back for years
Not only are these two gentlemen incredible chefs that are VERY well respected by their peers, Their knowledge about fine dining and the culture and everything that it entails is surpassed by no one. These two could easily teach a Master course on gastronomy at ANY leading university in the world.
You can tell how much love they have for their jobs
These guys are so chill.

Gotta love that MPW approach to cooking.

That royal blue apron guy looks like the alternate universe of which doctor house is pursuing his cooking hobies
Love these guys
Frédéric is one of the most stereotypically québécois people I’ve seen on UA-cam lmao
"I've made, eaten, or heard of lobster pelmeni." Said no one in Russia, ever. But, it does look good.
Have these dudes never had a bay oyster? Every state on the gulf coast grows lemons in abundance.
These guys are incredible

FYI
Tool for picking up these dumplings is called "Pelmeninator"
cool to see overlap like this :D
How do you pronounce that? Like pale-men-in-8-or?
2 of the most wonderful human beings that exist. So proud to call them friends and I miss them and Joe Beef so much!
Gods of cooking
As Russian, I demand to change "Dumpling" to Pelmeni in the title
Loved the sarcasm
Could you sub the pork for anything? Turkey, lamb, beef?
still can’t get a reservation at Joe Beef, been trying for the last 4 years...
Wow! I know it’s delicious. 🦞
They seem to be those cool dads, that other kids in ground school wanted to have.
The lobster was culled humanely and the final product the lobster should be smiling down on from lobster heaven. Because it looked good!
Dave, you're half the man you used to be! You guys look great, cheers!
