- We went to Joe Beef in Montreal, a restaurant that has been canonized by the likes of Anthony Bourdain, and is beloved not only within Canada but also the world at large. Co-owner David McMillan took us on an insanely delicious food tour of the city that ended with a wooden board covered in smoked meat. Enjoy.

The whole episode is unreal.
“ is there a billionaire or a despot anywhere on earth who at this precise moment is eating better than us?”
Me too! I am so thankful to be in Canada! Ontario but one kid my brothers studied in McGill!
Came here from Rogan's podcast 5 years later. Damn he looks better these days

i am excited to try this place in 3 weeks. Visiting Montreal from Chicago. :)
+PootsBruh ok i will.
How did you like Montréal? :D
How was it?
@ g Jacky Roxas Did you get to try Joe Beef? How was it? I'm from Chicago too, and I'd like to eat there. Is the hype legit?
I went to Montreal just to eat here and yes -- it's as amazing as everyone says it is.
The phone breaking replay was brilliant.
He doesn't even hold the door for shorty leavin the Nora grey place
peter w I noticed that too. kinnda rude.
peter w What makes you think she deserves to have the door held for her ? lol
olskoolnewpaint
It's common courtesy to hold the door open for anyone (not just women) in Canada.
@@peachylady i would hope it's common courtesy worldwide
@Dante Solaris you only open the door for women?
This guy eats the way every person would be able to eat in a perfect world.
He broke his phone
Sam Nelson 100%.
Always get a case.
I'm trying my heart out to open up my own place....I want a place like these joints. It's where the Chef's want to go. That's what I really want...
Chefs: Hedonistic, self absorbed, alcoholics. Livin' the high life
Love it! I work for the burgundy lion guys and I love joe beef. Great vid as always munchies!
white and blue....
I want to go to there!
I love Montreal! Some of the best music, bars, and gooooorgeous women! Poutine for the win.
I love how when they were at burgundy lion, that camera was just following the bartenders bosoms
well finally...this is more like it, and not the other vice episode in Montreal
Miss my Montreal. Keep it going boys and girls !
Ive watched this episode about 4 or more times and the phone breaking scene is still weird/amazing to me.
This shows so entertaining yet so painful to watch , I just want to eat something from one of these restaurants :(
Haha, yeah every single time there's munchies i want to book a plane to go wherever the episode was shot !
I miss Montreal. The guy in my thumbnail, Harvey, brot me there every year as a teen. Schwartz's and real bagels. The best stuff in America.
Honey Martin is an expensive bar for "hip" late 20somethings 30somethings. Fuck that
Montreal, Quebec (Canada) In The Building Yo! Word Up!
i liked the manager lady ... She's pretty!
I work down the street on Notre-Dame. Like a 2 minute walk. This place is beautiful to see.
This was actually really good and I want to go there again because the first time I cheaped out on the food and spent all of my money on various alcoholic beverages.
11:32 hahaaa, they got progressively drunk until this moment. Killed me.
Vanya
Keep these coming. I love watching all this food.
McMillan: "you gotta work hard at not burning bridges"...that aged well
Joe beef, Liverpoll House, Nora Grey and Park are all amazing restaurants. And that's just 4, Montreal has got tons of great restaurants.
This video is such a great snapshot of Montreal dining at the time.
2006 statistic say that in the metropolitan area French is the maternal language of 63 % of the population 16% English and 23% other language
"I love Korean food"...proceeds to use chopsticks backwards.
The look on the guy's face when the phone is knocked out of is hands.. replay
9:26
My dear friends,
Welcome to Montreal.
Dont stop these videos. They are awesome
Thanks for the enlightened way to enjoy Montreal.
"Could you not do ice right now" seems so nonchalant for a means of asking your employees not to smoke meth while he's on camera.
No he legitimately mean ice. As in, don't use crush ice or cause loud noise.
ddzqowpoo ppppo
hahahahahah
I ate at Globe sitting next to Hank Azaria when McMilan was a chef there.. the best baby back ribs I've ever had in my life.
Sometimes when I watch Vice, I feel like I'm learning about someone I don't like a little TOO much.
i couldnt put it to words like you did but thanks for the laugh. i feel the same way lol
Broke his phone lol. pain in the ass! hahaha
I fall in love with Vanya? How is this even possible over a youtube video?
Funny how Vice often does reports on weird stuff that happens in other countries, like Pakistan, or Palestine. And when they come to Montreal, they simply show how good we eat. I love Quebec!!!
David Mcmillan comes into my work every once in a while
vice from cool north korea documentaries to cute puppy and restaurant videos
this cant all be in one night lol, this beats my whole month >.>
live around the corner from Joe Beef, never been. Vive st-henri!
Butters coming through:'I know what you are saying'
Joe Beef is the shit. "Smoke meat" is very similar to pastrami, but better.
7:31 not holding door for lady like a boss
anybody else find him hilarious on the new anthony bourdain show?
Was first introduced to David and Fred on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. A couple of interesting cats. I'd give my right nut to get a chance to eat at Joe Beef.
sushi, pasta, booze, and barbecue... this is great
Grass fed free range meat is good - it's when you get into the corn fed beef (which is the majority of it) that you start getting problems.
Well... I thought there was gonna be Mormon's, cartel's, violence, drugs or alcohol in this video, but I gotta say I still enjoyed it. Thanks VICE, from your subscribers!
Good for you.
Holy shit, this one got me from 0 to starving in 6 minutes.
lol used to eat at Burgundy Lion all the time with my parents for lunch on sundays, when they came to visit me in st-henri. never thought it had mad cred like that... awesome.
they have sick shepards pie.
He's looking at both cameras at the same time.
Of Montreal.
They need their own show on VICE or Munchies and Action Bronson and his crew needs to be on the first episode.
Vice needs more foodie episodes
That Pavlova mock potato thing looked amazing, is there a recipe for that ??
David MacMillan if you're reading these comments, can I get a reservation at Joe Beef?
that place is always full....even mondays
Watching this makes me feel like my taste buds are inadequate.
He totally did break his phone at 9:02
+BoratvsBruno is that what he gets for not having a screen protector?
Antonio Parks. Such a good guy.
9:27 - 9:35 I see what you're leering at there, Mr. pervy cameraman....
How the fuck were they able to eat and drink that much in one night!?!? Barf! Food looks amazing but damn, I get stomachs cramps and heartburn just watching this
This guy knows how to eat.
This guys eyes make him look craz....ily beautiful
Next up Vice should do a spot on the booming designer hamburger industry in Toronto.
Another success Vice :)
This spot looks unreal! Cheers from NB!!
I would Iike to visit Joe beef!
Perfect!
love these vids
Most food does. The point is it tastes awesome.
I almost starved to death watching this
'the bagels are super good, I'm always talkin about that'
Dave looks so much healthier now.
put customers in their place and only the ones that respect the atmosphere will contribute to it. also, anyone know the soundtrack during the intro?
9:06 and thats why you dont buy an overpriced, easily broken piece of glass, my trusty blackberry has been dropped 100 times at least and is still going strong
7:30 snubbed the shit outta her on the door-hold. HA HA
David is so drool-worthy gorgeous!
He could cook me great food any time he liked!
Hey if you guys are still in Montreal you can get that iphone fixed at iRepair MTL by some really chill guys. Just look em up on facebook or google!
Wow 9:30 the girl 😏
damn!
im in love
no shit if that's all it takes to break that phone then it's a shit phone, i remember my first phone we played soccer with it against brick walls for fun and it still worked
That's right! He totally did!
why do I keep watch these???!?
Homie helped shape the food scene in Montreal. He's earned the right to be as arrogant as he wants. You wish you lived like he does.
going to check out those places this week!!
Awesome people and place, Hope to eat their one day and I hope the dude pays for that guy's iPhone haha.
The guy with the broken iphone has a pretty cool coat.
Montreal is where I'm from
I come here just to hear him say anybody wanna cut smoked meat beef Sammies off the bar
so are you coping "the layover" or is Anthony Bourdain coping you vice?
Welcome to Canada
best food VICE ever
I don't get why there are so many negative comments in EVERY ONE OF VICE'S VIDEOS.
Joe Beef is a fantastic place..
