      Hello. Biscuits would be a good choice here. You could also simply use butt joints for this.
      Thanks

    Doesn't say what you did with 19 3/4 and how did you cut hole from board to fit poker rable with felt on it to fit and still able to make base trim with it to put cups holes. Isnt explanned well so know how to do. Its great out come but lost after felt to continue

    That’s for the video. I have a question. What is the advantage of using a table saw over a chopsaw for a job like this? I appreciate your input

      Hello. It really comes down to personal preference, and where you feel you can get the best accuracy. Paul-Woodworkers Guild of America

    Can someone explain this to me mathematically? The interior angles of an octagon are 135, cut that in half and its 67.5 so why is the mitre set at 22.5? I know 90-67.5 = 22.5 but im having trouble connecting the dots.

      Tito Titoburg An octogon has 8 sides but there will be 16 individual cuts 360 divided by 16 equals 22.5 I had some trouble myself but I was able to figure it out

      the real reason is because when you set your miter saw to zero you‘re actually cutting a 90 degree angle, not a zero degree angle! So you have to subtract the angle you want to cut from 90 to get to the angle you have to set on your miter saw.

      360 divided by eight equals 45 but the 45 is formed by two pieces (of eight total) butting together so therefore each piece is 22.5 degrees.

    How do you calculate the length of each segment?

    • @Wwgoa
      @Wwgoa  8 років тому +3

      +Tech71 Length of a segment on an octagon is A=P/8, where A=segment length and P = perimeter of the circle. Here is an on-line calculator that can be used to assist: www.pagetutor.com/octagon_layout/
