This might be the best matchup on SNF on espn the intro was great the matchup between 2 of the greatest qbs of the 80s and 90s Randall Cunningham and Dan Marino and the game featured the Eagles great defense vs the Dolphins offense
Not true,Byars and Jackson were both good and oddly enough both landed in Miami around 92 maybe and both played very well for the fins!!But yea Cunningham was a trendsetter,he was like the first Black QB with that RB/QB with the big arm and very athletic, was a lot of fun to watch, but woulda taken MARINO all day EVERYDAY over him!!
The Eagles actually had a lot of talent on offense besides Cunningham but lacked the coaching to properly utilize it. The 1990 team had Keith Jackson and Keith Byars who were both excellent. Fred Barnett and Calvin Williams formed a pretty good WR duo for much of the early to mid 90s. If they could have only gotten Chris Carter's head on straight. Heath Sherman was a decent RB too. The biggest issue talent wise was the OL. Outside of Solt and Heller it was pretty bad.
I remember watching this game as a young Eagles fan and it crushed me,because I thought we had it in the bag with that 10pt 4th qt lead. It would have been a nice way to bounce back after that tough loss to the Bills the wk before, but it just wasn't to be. That bad snap on the punt in OT by Feagles really hurt us because the Fins got the ball in already good field position. And Cunningham had some guys open in OT he just overthrew them. Alot of what iffs with that game, and those Buddy Ryan teams in particular. All the talent in the world, but just couldn't get it done in the playoffs.
I like these Miami Dolphins old Aqua colors better than the new ones, I think their new uniforms suck. But I like the eagles midnight green a billion times better than the old kelly green
I agree 100%. I like Dolphins turquoise. like the midnight green also. Silver pants are tacky. I think they're going back to kelly green but white pants like the 60's.
Yo, this is amazing. I've been trying to track down a physical copy of this game for my dad. Do you know where I could find that? I am willing to purchase/ buy it.
Good enjoyable contest to watch but boy Philly were bad under Buddy Ryan. Most penalised team going into that game and no wonder due to indiscipline. When the cornerback #26 Ben Smith with under a minute to go in regulation, had a pass inference call for touching WR Mark Duper, that pretty much sealed Philly's fate. Philly had chances to pick up 1st downs to extend drives but sadly couldn't. Randall, yet again, having to carry that team and sooner or later, his and the team's luck was going to run out. Philly threw this game away as opposed to Miami truly winning it.
Buddy Ryan didn't have much success blitzing the goat passer ever Dan Marino! Even with the Bear 1985 defense, Marino shredded the defense in that memorable Monday night game. Blitzing Marino was suicidal with his quick release, accuracy and velocity. Later when injuries and age took their toll on him, the blitzing worked better bec he couldn't move in the pocket and threw more rushed ill advised interceptions.
But was STILL better then 90% of them, until his last couple seasons, but hell dude not only had to fight that nasty Achilles injury but he ended up with a new HC who wanted him to run first and have Dan be more like a gm manager, which didnt sit well with him,but its a damn shame that the stars just wouldnt align for Marino cuz in his prime he was untouchable but no D and no running attack, but when he was in his last 4 or 5 yrs JJ came in and brought a helluva D with him but Dan was just too old by that point and he ran out of time and to really put it over,RICKY WILLIAMS gets traded to Miami 2 yrs after Marino retires!!!if only that championship caliber D and Ricky were in the first 10 yrs of Marinos career!?!?
@@DolFan316 Marino's rotater cuff is what sabatoged him !! It was proven Marino wasn't gonna win a SB just relying on his arm. Hell it was hard for him to even get to a SB all JJ was trying to do is give him a running game but it was gonna take a while for JJ to build the team that he wanted because he didn't have the extra draft picks in miami like he did in Dallas
@@Tone22845 Wrong. From '96-99 the Dolphins in fact had more draft picks than any other team. JJ was notorious for constantly trading down and passing up players like Randy Moss who could've made a difference so he could rack up multiple 4th and 5th round picks. Also, Marino's injury in '99 was nerve-related.
When Bud Carson became the D.coordinator the Philly gang green D became even more dominant because of less aggressive blitzing. They had the best front 4 in the Nfl so they have to blitz as much & when they did they disguise it better
only the Eagles would choke away a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter. Hugh Douglas, Jeramiah Trotter, Brian Dawkins >>>> Reggie White, Jerome Brown, Seth Joyner, Andre Waters
20:27 😂😂😂 Lol what a shame it was turtle Marino , slower than a 75 year old grandmother, the slowest player and tortoise in the history of the league, a slug was going faster
I was 15 years old when this game was played and I still remember it like it was yesterday. I'm 45 today
You sound like you were a math major! I was 12 back in 1990 so today im..................................194??

Two of my favorite childhood QB's

1990 NFL Uniforms were great. Also the last year before they put the NFL logo on the jersey.
agreed
Dan Marino was my favorite athlete as a kid. Cunningham became head coach of my high school football team a year after I graduated
Lol Turtle Marino is not even an athlete, a guy who even in his twenties was slower than a 70 year old grandmother cannot be called an athlete
@@juanpabloperez9063 Marino isn’t a athlete because he’s slow? Lmao just delete that dude
This was the first game I ever went to! Thanks for posting!
sammie smith fumbles in the red zone..what a surprise
Gosh, Marino was really great. Had he won a few super bowls he def would be top 5.
Cunningham should've been MVP in 1990. That offense was nothing without him.
