    Thanks for this video. I was bored so decided to check can timing. Sure enough, 1 tooth out. Pity I didn't check it before last weekends 1000km adventure.

    Thanks for sharing your info, on my 2007 Lada 1.7 4x4 im replacing the cylinder head and its difficuilt to see the bottom crank timing marks, can I set this timing using no1 piston at TDC with a dial indicator?

    On the neglected niva engine. Is it a 1.7 liter engine ? What about putting a stroker crankshaft in it. With a 92 mm stroke maybe you need a deckplate to make it nice.

    I'd be willing to bet the speedo had made a loop past it's first 100k or been replaced. Chains just don't stretch that much 20k km, same with all the other tell-tale signs like the worn-out clutch and so on.

    Why didn't you use the automatic tensioner? Did it not work properly?

    Why didn't You use the automatic Chain tensioner?
    I have one and it does not go all the way in after taking the pin out. The engine worka great, but I can not lut the little screw in... Was that the problem?

    What timing degree you guys put?
    I put around 20 maybe even more
    Runs very good but probably fuel consumption will go up
    What do you think?

    • @GrandTouringConcepts
      @GrandTouringConcepts  7 років тому

      For ignition advance we use 5 degrees, it is ideal, we have a link on that topic on our website: gtconcepts.ca/main/index.php/2017/10/19/lada-ignition-timing-information/ but ignition timing, it should not negatively impact fuel consumption, but knock or ping may require a higher octane grade of fuel depending on individual settings. Actually, U just need a new modernized fully automatic mechanical chain tensioner.
    This one - "isai" - with the winding spring.
    isai-shop.ru/
    (google chrome might block the site. Open it any way!)
    Original fiat's tensioner of the Lada is crap! It is the "vera causa" of all chain problems of Lada.

  • @JarkkoIkola

    Automatic chain tensioner is not the best, it starts to eat himself teeths and some points it fail completely
