Annual Hearing Exam (Why are they so important?)

Why is it important to have an annual hearing exam?
Hearing abilities change very slowly over time, so we might not be able to detect changes from year to year. However, small changes can significantly affect the prescriptive targets we use to correct for hearing loss and/or tinnitus. Just as primary care physicians recommend annual physicals, an annual hearing exam is a painless way to monitor your hearing acuity over time and ensure nothing is being overlooked.
Often hearing devices and assistive technology can be reprogrammed or adapted to meet the changing needs of our auditory systems and brains, like getting an eye exam regularly or having your teeth cleaned every six months. Checking your hearing annually should be a regular priority too.
