CORRECTION: Some viewers have alerted me to the fact the the UNC-Charlotte enrollment is closer to 30,000. My 6,000 figure came from "the interwebs" but was probably referring to one of the colleges within the university. Anyway...I give "higher ed" a bit of a hard time now and then but I will have to say that the section of trail that passes thru the UNCC campus is beautiful and is one of the highlights of these "creek trails."

My wife and I love your videos. You make us laugh. We saw your issue with the flat tire. I’m very mechanical but choose not to carry all that carp around to change a flat. I saw this product called Flat Out. I did a lot of research and watched a lot of utube videos before installing it on our bikes. Easy to install last 10 years, won’t freeze. You can find UA-camrs testing it and I was sold on it. Hopefully this will be helpful for you. We travel with confidence knowing we have it in our tires. If I can answer any questions about it feel free to ask. Dave & Sue. Safe riding! Peace

Great looking trail. Gotta get to it soon. I only had one flat since my new Hyper E ride. It happen on The Gateway in Kings Mtn less than a mile from the trail head. Normally that wouldn't be so bad...But Ebikes are heavy. It was like walking a Lawn chair with non rolling wheels. Seems I hit a very sharp rock. Possibly an Arrowhead. That ripped a half an inch hole in my tire and tube. The only thing that saved me was the walker button .
@15:53 - Seems all the trail I've been on have a lack bathroom a water fountains.
@16:37 - After that first flat tire, I do carry an electric pump, at least one spare tube with a tire changing kit. It all fits in a small bag on my handlebar.
@20:32 - I find watermelon great for eating after a long ride. Try some Pineapple too.

Hate to say it but you could have repaired that flat with a patch kit and easily repaired that front tire flat with a new tube considering it was a front tire. Super easy to do especially with those quick releases in the front hub. Should always carrying a small pump and a spare tube in your bags. Light and compact but a life saver on the road especially long trail rides like you do. No mind you should learn how to actually change the tube or patch the tube and take wheels off which is easy to do and plenty of UA-cam videos out there to show you. As this can easily happen on a super long ride we’re the car is 15 miles away. 😮 also you should have looked me up when in Charolette I was a bike mechanic for many years back on the day. Built wheels myself and know a lot. Next time you are in Charolette let me know be glad to train you how to fix flats the proper way so you can avoid huge hassle next time. It’s bound to happen again. Oh that was an old good sized thorn in the tire that was left in the tire and with time rolling on it it worked its way into the tube. Always look at tires before and during ride to insure nothing is stuck in the tire before it works itself through the tire and punctures the tube. Shoot me a message I will give you my phone number. I am in Indian land south Charolette.

love that trail, sorry if I might have missed some of what you said because i muted due to not wanting to hear music, I noticed that people who talk and ride trails to highlight that trail forget the trail is important unless you title it me riding the something trail, when I am filming m e riding I just put the camara on the bike and ride you never seemy face, I just want to show the trail, I wish people would do that, instead of the music, and showing themselves all the time, I am sure your a nice guy, but people can be obessed with themselves. anyway that was a very nice trail for being in and near charlotte, did you ride during the week hardly anyone was on trail, where I live we would go during the week and I thought the trails were very busy until I rode on a saturday and it was just plain crowded. by the way we carry fix a flat and a battery operated pump so if I get a flat we can fix it on the trail. so maybe carry one? got through amazon. not expensive at all.

I would recommend attending one of the free maintenance clinics that local bike shops have from time to time. Bicycles with rim brakes and releasing the rear wheel from the chain and reinstalling the rear wheel are the most difficult part of repairing/replacing a tube. Once you have the wheel off replacing the tube is relatively simple. Village Wrench in Greenville has maintenance clinics often that are free. I’ve had to do the walk of shame or carry bicycles back to the car. Learning to repair a flat will prevent most walks of shame 😊. Always look forward to seeing your videos!!

Beautiful trails, thanks for sharing. I'm in Salisbury just North of Charlotte. I haven't ridden the Charlotte trails yet but plan too. My father was a preacher and also not really mechanical, God rest his soul. I used to say his idea of car maintenance was putting gas in the tank. I'm a retired ME so maybe it balances out.
Anyway, perhaps as a compromise you could add a small bike multitool and a hand pump to your bike. And, while some may disagree, have a bike shop but tire sealant in your tires. Then, next puncture, you would have a way to add air to the tire, and the sealant would slow or stop the leak. This would get back to your car. You just need to learn to attach and work the pump and you're good to go. The multitool is 'just in case' something else. I love your humor, and you do make professional grade videos. God bless.

On toby creek when you are coming from UNCC and you get to the light at University you can pick up the other side of Toby across the street by the Starbucks. That is where the boardwalk section is located. .

Not gonna pile on but you know what you have to do on the flat tire deal. Once you learn you’re going to realize how simple it is. And work to learn all the options for such a repair including using an energy bar wrapper, or dollar bill, to fix a hole in a tire. Yes, it’s a thing. And take care of yourself out there! 😊

You should have played "I got a flat in my tire and now my flat feet are tired" by Weird Al Yankovich. Seriously you should carry one of those water bottels with a built-in filter cartridge.

Ok Scott. I really used to like your videos. Now I love them since you had the guts to call out false profit Furtick. Ok, enough about charlatans (get the pun?) Sure hated to see you get a flat, that is a cyclists worst nightmare (besides crashing). I'm glad you survived and I'm glad you found a cool Giant dealer to help you. I ride Giants. You should have checked out a nice Reign E+ e-mountain bike while you were there. Thanks and looking forward to your next adventure.

Where did you get 6,000 as the number for UNC Charlotte? Are you referring to a specific college within then university? The general student population is over 30,000.

Somewhere on the Internet… Either from Wikipedia or the college website itself. Maybe it was just one of the “colleges” within the university that has 6,000…?

Don't leave the neighborhood without a spare tube, tire levers, and some means of inflation. Would you have driven your car to the trail without a spare tire? You're VERY lucky to have never previously had a puncture. In my 5+ decades of cycling, I've had MANY flats on the road/trail. Usually not big deal to swap the tube (once verifying the offending puncture item has been removed from the tire) and be on you way again in 10 minutes.
