A lovely film which I have to watch every time it's on TV....and Rita Coolidge is amazing- this and all time high are two of my favourite songs ever 😁👍
She's good but like Sheena Easton's "For Your Eyes Only" my personal anthem better. Carly Simon's "Nobody Does It Better" was my late lady and i's song. She used to sing it directed at me as no one did it better me in her eyes with anything and everything. She liked this song too
I LOVE this song! I love the movie too! This song always made me sad because it reminded me that, unlike Alan, most people aren’t fortunate enough to seize such a wonderful opportunity. It also made me think of the people who’d never see Alan again.
I love the scene when she gets Alan (Tom Hanks) the statue and the reason why is when he asks her why she gave up her necklace for it. She says so matter of fact "because I love you." Like "why ells? because I love you." So much is expressed in that scene.
@@ShadowDranzer How so? If you think the film is sexist, go watch “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”. At least Madison doesn’t scream and whine all the time (she actually shuts up once in a while), unlike Willie Scott. At least Madison isn’t a damsel in distress (if anything she saves Allen multiple times from drowning), unlike Willie Scott. At least Madison actually contributes to the plot, unlike Willie Scott. At least Madison is resourceful (teaching herself English from watching TV and trading her necklace in exchange for the Mermaid water fountain because she isn’t carrying any money in her pocket), unlike Willie Scott. At least Madison is comfortable with her nude body and sexuality, unlike Willie Scott. At least Madison actually defeats the bad guys at the end (she fends herself from military scuba divers by removing their masks and hitting them with her fish tail), unlike Willie Scott. At least “Splash” ended with *Allen* giving up everything (his family, his friends, his home, his job, and presumably his own species) in order to be with Madison under the sea; I mean, that’s pretty rare for a romantic comedy to have the GUY give up everything to be with his female love interest (usually, it’s always about women who give up everything to be with the guy they love).

You have great taste and can obviously feel the beauty in this so romantic melodic song. I admit to copy and pasting parts of this but I can add on also that the movie moved me greatly too. Although a comedy I think for huge romantics it's appeal was due to the delightful chemistry between the two leads. The innocence of Madison's character was so sweet and touching.

I first saw this movie when I was 7 years old when I came home after school. I loved this flick ever since and still do. I can only imagine pain of being found out and being made a spectacle of. I felt horrible for Madison when she was in captivity on her way being dissected like some sort of freakish specimen. The shame, loneliness and fear must have been very hard for her and of course Allen. Also when I was still a kid. I used to draw up scenarios on how to break her out and reunite her with Allen.

This movie has a special place in my heart. So beautiful. I was a child when I saw it and takes me back everytime.
Seen this movie a thousand times as a kid and not by choice, one TV and 2 sisters = i get no dam choice :( but now i hear this song and see the clip of them on the boat and my youth all comes flooding back.
one of the best films of all time and one my favorite movies. and one of the most beautiful songs ever. I love it this was mine and my grandmas favorite songs.
A lovely film which I have to watch every time it's on TV....and Rita Coolidge is amazing- this and all time high are two of my favourite songs ever 😁👍
My two favorites by her, too.
Me three!
first time I fell in love was with Madison from this film. Quality
Rita, your versatility with the differant songs you do is just incredible. You are singing in a little higher range than a lot of your other songs
This is my favorite song, I really love her range.
Rita Coolidge is movie magic. All Time High from Octopussy is another heart-moving ballad.
I'd say that was unexpected
She'd say get used to it, way of my world, namely you, MacCarthy
That always makes me tear up. She's so artless and pure in that line reading.
This song and film floods my heart with light, always a delight.
Great job on the editing.
Keeps this gypsy dreaming ;)
I love the movie still have it on VHS and the song is beautiful as well !
This has to be one of the most uplifting films...ever.
The most romantic scene of all times!!!!🥰🥰💞💞💞💞
Really ? It has slot of sexist and misoyginistic themes throughout.
@@ShadowDranzer Agreed it is incredibly sexist Misogynistic terrible movie , you have a controlling abusive protagonist makes it very unpleasant.
@@givingthedevilhisdue9876 How was the protagonist abusive and controlling?
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIES SAW IT WITH A GOOD FRIEND SHE GAVE ME THE DVD AS A PRESENT I LOST HER LAST YEAR. I MISS HER. THANKS FOR THE GOOD TIMES R.I.P.
There are no words to describe how much I love this!! 😍 💖 💘 This Video , the Movie, the song, & Rita Coolidge!! Thx so much for this! 💜
thank you, that's sweet
I have adored this song upon hearing it in the movie 37 years ago and went to tremendous lengths back all those years ago to find a recording of it. I still adore it today but when I have played it around other people and they ALL hate it. How can one song connect with so few a people but for them so deeply whilst others (the vast majority) can't connect with it at all? You have great taste and can obviously feel the beauty in this so romantic melodic song. I admit to copy and pasting parts of this but I can add on also that the movie moved me greatly too. Although a comedy I think for huge romantics it's appeal was due to the delightful chemistry between the two leads. The innocence of Madison's character was so sweet and touching.
One of the greatest love stories ever told...Thanks for posting!
I bought the DVD about 6 months ago and I sing along with this song quite often.
I love this movie. It one of my favorite movie.
The childhood scene is one of my earliest & most sacred cinematic memories.
I watched this the first time in Nigeria around 1984/85. It made an incredibly impression on me. I'm having a bout of nostalgia listening and watching this. Just watched A man called Otto today and imagine me watching this now: 50 years between the two movies.
Loved this movie so much those childhood days. Will make out time to watch it all over again 💕❤
As a child I loved this song but the vhs, never showed who song this. I thank the internet. Thanks for bringing me a piece of my childhood :-)
A sweet, truly memorable film and this song captured the essence of Alan & Madison’s love for each other-
LOVE THIS!!!
I love this movie and song ❤
I wish this version was on Spotify
What a beautiful and unique love story. I first watched this as a child, never get over how love always prevails in the end.
This movie just came on Laff. I was obsessed as I child and still love it so much. This song used to make me cry not only because it was so sweet and romantic but also because it meant the movie was over.
I love this movie and song , I got lucky to watch this movie.
The movie reminds us how it was when we were young, once we dreamed one fine day ...........
This song is one of my best favorite song, I repeated so many times play-back LASER DISK of SPLASH long time ago, my memories.
Beautiful song sung by Rita Coolidge! Sometimes the song makes the movie!
The mystery of LIFE and of
LOVE can sometimes be so hard to fathom. But again, I still want to believe
that in our second life, we will be free again to LOVE and LOVE whoever we want
to love without having to hurt anybody or somebody.
I loved this movie as a little girl... Now it´s been so long since I´ve seen it before. It was on television last weekend here in Belgium but I found out to late so I didden´t see it...
マジソンの心拍数を示す音が高鳴るシーンはいつ観ても可愛い。
The movie deserved best picture Oscar and the song--this video does too.
This song and Maureen McGovern's "Can you read my mind?" from Superman are my two favorite movie love songs from two of my favorite movies, while Roger Williams' "Alfie" and Lionel Richie and Diano Ross' "Endless Love" are my two favorite love songs from utterly detestible movies. Haven't heard any new movie love songs in decades that come even close.
An angel’s voice from heaven just beautiful
God bless
This is my favourite movie and I have the DVD and I think on tape aswell
Oh man this is one of my all time favorite movies Tom and Daryl are excellent for this part. The end gets to me every time and the song is so perfect. I remember seeing it at the movies with a friend. Thank for posting great editing.
This movie is my all time favorite Mermaid movie. I can't describe now perfect Daryl Hannah fit as Madison. She IS SOOO Madison. And Tom Hanks of course, both of them look so good together omg
Thank you so much KillRalph. It's a pleasure to share that emotion.
Love this film!!
I love this song and this movie! Takes me back to my youth ❤️❤️
Amo esse clássico ♥️
the film is beautiful and the song is too. i adore it alllllll. 🌊♥️
Me encanta este tema, y la película también. Es de mis preferidas de Tom Hanks. A parte del humor, contiene mucho amor. Tiene escenas maravillosas. Gracias por compartirlo.
i i i never thought i would say this but. This has to be one of the most beutifuly adored movie soundtracks ive ever heard on this entire site in this video
This was my fave as a kid and say what you will about Darryl Hannah she's a great actress and this movie is one of the greatest love stories ever told this holds a special place in my heart I was 5 when I first watched and still love it just as much now as I did then
Absolutely beautiful song. Rita Coolidge was sensational on it. I always loved her voice. I remembered it from the end credits of the film, which I haven't watched in years. This song is timeless.
A great love story... a modern age little mermaid of its time... great acting and great love story. Love is out there for all of us no matter where it comes from
