Yeah it's pretty incredible how far we've come. I wasn't very optimistic about the watch back in the day because the processor was just too slow. It wasn't until I got my series 5 that it was quick enough to rely on. And of course the Ultra 2 is a beast.

Still don't get smart watches. My cell phone eliminated my desire to wear a watch. The freedom from not having another accessory for convenience was better trade off.
Literally, the only reason I can see someone buying this is for status symbolism. Of course, the watch market is built of status symbolism anyway, so why it annoys me to see manufacturers diving into the smart watch category, it shouldn't surprise me.

And the geek side of me really gives me the urge to buy it. But I just can't justify the cost. To little features that a smartphone completely out does in every way.
Strikerage If you're in some situation where you get a very large volume of emails or something it's nice. I'm a full time student with a part time office job, I need to see all of my work emails and I get an email every time an assignment is graded.
I don't want to be taking out my phone in class all the time, so it's nice. But I wouldn't recommend it to the average user. Using Pebble btw.

Gerad Guitrez its not the best because it has an extremely similar functionality too the moto 360. But the moto 360 looks nicer (majority of people agree), has more customization options in the software and in the uk a stainless steel 360 with a leather strap costs just under 165 pounds and a stainless steel apple watch with a leather band costs 600 pounds. The apple watch may have the most street cred of all the smart watches out there but with all things considered its far from the best. (guy who sold his iphone 6+ for a oneplus one and moto 360)(use to like apple till i got my oneplus last month and saw the light)

Also it has many features that motto 360 simply doesn't have. Fitness and sensor are a huge example. Let be honest here and stop the blind hate because a product simply was made by Apple and not Google.

It's crazy how Apple always gets it right on the first try, and then when you compare the first generation of a product to now the NINTH generation of a product, it's sometimes hard to tell the difference, and yet the ninth generation still blows the competition out of the water. Awesome. Proud to be a shareholder.

Zackry Abnet UA-cam takes time to process the video to higher qualities. Some videos don't have this because the YTer has uploaded the video beforehand, and then scheduled a specific release time. MKBHD releases his video instantly when he's uploaded them :)

First of all, I've had to say this many times, ITS THE APPLE FUCKING WATCH!! Secondly, the Apple Watch isn't the only smart fucking watch in the world. News Flash: Apple isn't the only company in the world! I feel like going in with my Pebble and when they say "No iWatches" I'm gonna say "Its not an Apple Watch, its a Pebble" I'm glad to get this off my chest, and no I'm not necessarily an Apple fan. I dont like apple all that much but after this video i disliked Apple even more. The watch doesnt seem all that great, you can see Frame rate drops when hes scrolling so i dont know if the watch is in any way better than f.e. a moto360

That's data loading from the phone. The Watch uses a custom CPU and graphics core that is about equal to iPhone 4s. That processor chip plus the lightweight Watch OS means that it shouldn't be anything from the software itself that slows the device. It's more likely that the data that's loaded over Bluetooth isn't coming in fast enough, leading to stutters from separate info cards starting and stopping the loading process.

My friend has a Moro 360 & that watch lags like hell. It was so bad he couldn't even lift it up. & a lot of it does have to do with the phone itself but it's still no excuse for it not to be able to swipe anywhere

Thought i just watch the review on the 1st apple watch before I finalise my watch Ultra purchase. Seeing this in 2022, Apple was mad to have priced it at 700$. Such an overkill.

Yeah basically coz there's the apple brand there. And that is what costs the most. I have a lot of Apple stuff, not a fanboy, and not considering individual preferences, but who ever wants Apple over other stuff knows we have to pay for the brand first and then for the product.

You can get a decent gaming computer for that much or a little more.
The technology isn't there for high performance, but I suppose watch technology has to start somewhere, you have to take into account battery also.
But if you have the money and you want one then get one.
So this doesn't make sense but a $25k rolex does? It's not supposed to be some revolutionary mind-blowing piece of technology. It's a fashion accessory that says "I'm wealthy". That's all. I really don't think it's that stupid of a purchase if you can afford one and really like it.
Thank you! At least this has more functionality than an overpriced Rolex. Even the most expensive Apple Watch doesn't come close to the price tag of a Rolex. But, people will bitch about anything and everything.

Apple Watch has come so far since it first came out. Imo, it was the best smart watch when it came out and it still is to this day. Series 5 completely out-paces any other smart watch

rebekah172 Honestly, I don't think they will ever be "there". I fully understand the purpose of them, hell I own a pebble and I can't leave the house without it. I just think that their main purpose is such a basic function that it is way too hard to justify the price. Beyond notifications and fitness, I really can't see them excelling in anything else. Most of the "extra" stuff is much better and faster when actually using the phone. I believe we have hit the glass ceiling but of course I could be wrong (and I hope I am).

It really is fundamentally different. You can hold as long as you want without activating force touch or activate it right away. It's an interesting way to implement a "secondary click"

With Force Touch, you actually press harder into the display. With a long press, the amount of pressure doesn't matter, only the amount of time that one's finger is on the display.

Corbin Crutchley How much have you actually used it? In the promotional material they make it look like it's mostly used for zooming, but it's actually used mostly for scrolling, so you can still see the content instead of covering it with your finger.

Only question: iFixit stated in their teardown that Apple is using a flexible plastic OLED display, rather than LCD. Second, it should be noted that the heart rate monitor works perfectly as long as the activity doesn't involve vasoconstriction (weight lifting); basically aerobic exercises only. Same is true even with chest strap monitors.

U2 chip for accurate find my function for looking for airtags and iPhone 15 onwards like looking for your friend at a mall or school even if no internet...more accurate location. not sure about other stuffs but 99% are the same

SERIOUSLY APPLE? 10-17k for an average smart watch with expensive jewels and materials casing it, they are probably already working on a Apple WatchS or v2 why would you even make something like that
