I dont need so many "useful" features(harmful distractions) nowadays. The classdic just perfectly meets my needs in most of the time with its eternal elegance.
I just bought another one of these on eBay to compliment my other minimalist phones. It’s the most modern “classic” BlackBerry money can buy and while it may no longer be supported, I find the Android models to not really have the BlackBerry-flair to them. I miss BBs.
@Tyler Durden Buy a pair of Carhartt cargo style pants, there is a no flap pocket on the left thigh that the Key2 fits into Perfectly!!!! Keep typing bro.
Ah, the blackberry classic :) i bought one just to try it out in 2019. Software support was already fairly dodgy back then. But it came with a couple of preinstalled apps, one of which was evernote, and evernote still worked to 100%. This got me hooked on evernote, and sent me down the rabbit hole of building a second brain and getting things done and a world without email :) Evernote unfortunately rewrote all their apps for all platforms in 2020 and the Android version now requires Google Play Services to be installed :/ Google Play Services is just really useful if you want to sync data between a device and a server without killing the battery with poling (and it's also one of the reasons why for many de-googling their smartphone has some negative effects).
I am still using this beauty right now in 2022. Perfect phone of all time. Best keyboard, best form factor, good speaker, decent camera, good screen, responsive, good call quality, especially, really really beautiful. Everytime I pick it up, I'm still amazed by how beautiful it is. Apple music, Messenger lite, Telegram are working fine on this beauty. That's all I need from a phone which supposed to be our communicator. I think Whatsapp and line are still working fine, but I don't use those app so I uninstalled them awhile back. Best phone ever and Q10 comes second. I regret not to pick up the passport silver edition when I found very good one with a very good deal.
I would trade in my big ass heavy ass laptop any day for a blackberry. I'd much rather carry this and do my productivity on rather than a laptop that's 10x the size and weight. Blackberry please come back and make an updated version of this exact phone.
Still using a Blackberry Classic with Shaw Mobile in Canada. All I care about is calls and text, as long as those work I"m fine. I was never into Apps and just use the built in ones like the Calculator and the Remember App for notes. What I also like about Blackberry OS 10 phones is the LED Notification light. I assign different colours to my contacts so I can tell by looking at the colour of the LED flashing who has tried to contact me. I also have a Blackberry Passport as backup too.
@JoseBriones Is the Verizon version of the Classic unlocked for use on ATT/T-Mob MVNOs? Which MVNOs have you had success with personally? Lastly, can it run Google Voice in a supported version? THANKS!
I have the PP, Classic (Q30) and Q10. The PP is more powerful than all other BB10 devices and works better especially with android apps. But the Q10 would be my pick of form factor for a ‘dumb phone’ ideal.
I won't lie: I am still using my Z10 (STL-2) after possibly 10 years; so now the system notifications don't do anything I think it's time for a Fairphone 4. Thanks to Jose for proving that there's no point just y33t1ng these. However: I entirely hear what else has been said about the BBPP, specifically the Android kernal / interoperbility stuff. If that had been updated to even version 5 (i.e. Lollipop) and more noise had been made of alternative app stores (maybe even a legit method of installing Google Play stated by BB) all of these devices would have had a significantly longer shelf-life, if only second-hand. They might have even been able to salvage something from the mess they made by squandering their licenses. Stock Android handsets still don't have an ability to open let alone edit Office doc's or PDFs without apps; no QR reader or mote-taking functionality (etc.) by default; harrumph, grumble grumble, etc...
Thank you. Not quite a paperweight. The "classic" was a great phone and now a good phone. This phone is simply a communication tool, not well as a mobile entertainment device. Still have my Q10! BB OS was/is best OS!
Jose - Appreciate all the good info on your channel and web-site. I recently picked up a Q10 in excellent shape and love the keyboard. I took the SIM from my dead dumb phone and put it in but of course AT&T doesn't allow calls/texts. I can only text through wi-fi. No problem I thought, I want to leave AT&T anyway. However, the MVNOs I've checked so far don't support the Q10 either. As near as I can tell, here in the USSA, when 3G was turned off at the first of the year, they also shut down 4G LTE only phones; that is, phones that are not VoLTE compatible which includes BB10 phones. You mentioned Mint, but when I put my IMEI # in, it shows not compatible. I tried to sign up with RedPocket, same deal. Their customer service is the one that told me all carriers in the US dropped 3G/4GLTE phones. I'm wondering if because you or others already had one on the system, you were 'grandfathered' in, but no new activation. Having said that, AT&T forced my wife off her older 4G LTE HTC for the same reason apparently, no support of VoLTE. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!
Mint should work. You just need to activate under a "supported" device. After that switch SIMs and it should work. T-mobile should work as well. AT&T won't work unless you use something like H20 Wireless or something like that.

I stuck my ATT SIM card in, but due to the VOLTE issue, it only works for texts. I already LOVE the keyboard. I had a Curve clone that was 3G and had to give it up due to 3G shutdown. Garbage flip replacement took an unexpected trip through the washing machine. That didn't work well, although the keypad was so bad, no loss. Because, i noticed, that phone calls on BB10 are ONLY over 3G ! ?
- i read, that BB 10 phones can't make phone calls over LTE.
It has to be VOLte - which BB10 phones don't support ! ?
So: Is this the reason, you mentoined? The US carriers, which don't support BB 10 anymore,
are those, ho don't support 3G ??? or, what is the reason.....
Yes. It’s due to the BlackBerry Classic not being able to support the latest VoLTE bands. That’s why it doesn’t work in some carriers.
@@JoseBriones So, the classic only can make phone calls, if the carriere still support's 3G ?
If the carrier don't support 3G anymore - only internet is possible?
@@lotharpeters5985 With most carriers, yes. There is one band I believe on T-mobile that can access VoLTE, but it's disappearing.
BB made a gigantic unforgivable mistake by dropping out of the phone market. Seriously stupid.
This model is My weakness....
this guy sponsored himself how cool is that
Haha.
Whatsapp works on it ?
It can. But it’s a very slow.
@@JoseBriones Can you make a video or list the apps that still work on it ?
