  • In this video, we take a look at 4 of the most popular mini 1/24th scale indoor crawlers. The Axial SCX24 Chevy C-10, Deadbolt, RGT 24 Defender, Kyosho Mini Z Suzuki Jimny, and the Team Associated Element Enduro 24. We compare price, aftermarket support, scale looks and performance on the indoor crawler park. We compare stock vs modified rigs and I help you figure out which one is right for YOU!

    Hint for the RGT: Unscrew the cage and remove it, leaving the sideview mirrors, then put the spare from the back on the hood like an old Land Rover. I tried that and voila, DRASTIC improvement and took five minutes. Doesn't fall backwards and tumbles forward over obstacles that used to give it fits.

    Really don't think you can beat the SCX24, in the US anyway. Better availability for parts and upgrades, not to mention, probably being the best out of the box to start with. But be careful when buying, they are NOT the same. Other than the suspension arms and bodies, the two I bought had different radio/esc combos. The C10 I have came with a 2-channel radio/esc, and the lights are on all the time. The JLU I have came with a 4 channel radio and has the lights on a switch. The bodies are obviously different, but the C10/JLU have different suspension arms than the Deadbolt/Betty.

    Good video and even cooler trail table. I have to respectfully disagree on a few points. I love the performance of the Mini-Z for what it is. It's made to be very scale and intentionally doesn't have giant wheels and tires. I also don't think it belongs in the 1/24th class in comparisons because it's obviously smaller than the others. AND... the Jimny in my opinion is the least cool looking between the 4Runner and the Jeep. I have both of them along with several upgrades that VASTLY improve the performance with oil filled shocks, weight, and additional lights as well. I hope you have a look at some of the offerings they have these days for the little Mini-Z's. Thanks for making this video and enduring my comment. lol

    Dunno if it's a regional thing, but they cost way more where I live. The Axial models is super expensive at around 200$ =/
    Finally managed to pick up 2 Element's for "just" 95$ each at a small hobby store. Normally they're stuck at around 130$-135$.

    #10thscalegarage my qestion is it a waste of money to buy the Axial scx 24 instead of saving up for the 1/10 axial?

    Good video. Um...Deadbolt green...yeah...hmm. Last time I saw that color it was coming out of Linda Blair's mouth in the Exorist. I'll pass. LOL. I bought the red.

    Great video. While there are many more you could have included, I feel the RC4WD (Mini) Gelande II (1/18) should have been included as a 'high-end' option. Just an incredible machine.

      Those are sweet, and I have some,but I was just looking at 24th scale, as that’s what I built the crawler table for.

    • @johnfaustus1
      @johnfaustus1 2 роки тому

      @@10thScaleGarage Fair enough, but I'm sure you know that these manufacturer stated 'scales' are meaningless. As you have both, you know tat the "1/24th scale" SCX24 is almost exactly the same size as the "1/18th scale" Gelande II.
      They ought to be compared together - perhaps another video with higher-end ,let's just call them 'smaller-scale', crawlers.

    While discussing wheel weights and making sure you get the right size... if you can't get them for whatever reason, you could always remove the tires and wrap some lead electrical solder around the rims. Cheap wheel weights. LOL

    • @10thScaleGarage
      @10thScaleGarage  2 роки тому

      Very true, although the tires are glued to the rims on most RTR crawlers. Remember you’re also essentially increasing the diameter of the wheel and decreasing the amount of sidewall, but it would almost certainly work.

    I'm new to the rc world and got the mini z Jimny. I've driven it around five times tops and can't get it to work anymore. 🤔 Transmitter turns on, but the car doesn't do anything. Fresh batteries but nothing. Anyone know what might be wrong?

    • @SuperDrake79
      @SuperDrake79 3 роки тому

      @@10thScaleGarage I didn’t. I cut the brass at the right length to butt up to the end links which threaded into the all thread tightly against the tubing. In theory that’s what I did. But I eyeballed it instead of using calipers and needed to use glue as I cut the tubes too short lol. I’ll send a pic on IG.
