I have to tell you man, this channel has put me onto SO much cool rc stuff, especially these mini rigs! I can already see myself building a whole fleet of couch slayers😅
The engineering in these is a lot better than the mini z on-roads. Almost like another company made it, but the body is incredible without losing performance. It's painted with licensed paint and body, with awesome approach angles. I think disposable batteries have more speed than nimh rechargeables. You could always convert to your own lipo and electronics system, which would of costed too much to stay under $200.
It looks really scale but I think the kyosho mini z is way to expensive. Here in Belgium they begin at +-170€ but the jimny is already 270€. 270€ is about 317$ for that money you can buy a 1/10 car. The axial scx24 is about 140€, so it's almost half the price 🤷♂️
It seems like a perfect small crawler. If it was a little bit bigger it would be great. Because I think this isn't 1/24 size. More like 1/27 looks like. Great review Brett as always.
I remember early 2000's we used to race mini Z's at a local track and they had an off road style course for the Overlanders. I still have mine. We raced regular mini Z , Overlanders and had the Mini z F1 nascar conversions those were super fun to race on a banked oval track. A lot of fun those cars were! Kyosho aint cheap though!! But looks real good!! These 4x4 are pretty rad!
I love my 4runner mini z, and I would say these are more 28th scale either that or the scx24 isn't a true 24th scale because it's way bigger than the mini z. Also I am going on 2+ hours on my first batteries and still going lol maybe it's an hour if you're on the throttle the whole hour.
The Kyosho can crawl so smooth even when big torque at low rpm is needed. The scx 24 have way more lack of torque from the ground up versus to the Kyosho because of Ring and pinion (Kyosho) versus worm drive (Axial) .
Wow, the details on that Jeep are amazing! I ended up getting the white SCX24 Jeep, which I love, but now I sorta want. One of these, too. Great review.
The Jimny has a 120mm Wheel-Base, but with it's tiny tires it won't make much difference. Thank you for delivering my gyro to Germany that fast. I'm looking forward to my LED-Set and the stackable Terrain. Sorry for my bad English but I try to do my very best.
I love the detail of the Mini-Z line, I own the 4-Runner and an MA-020. However, the crawling capability is sub-par for the price. The steering servo is way too weak, and it's difficult to fit an aftermarket one. The licensed tires are cool but are essentially slicks at this scale. I upgraded to scx-24 wheels, and the servo issue was made ten times worse, barely turning the wheels at all when stationary. Using triple A batteries mounted high on the chassis also really detracts from the vehicle's capability, IMO the root of all the side/backward rollovers. If you have a budget of $200, I personally suggest buying an SCX-24 and some upgrades. The Mini-Z crawlers are an awesome desk toy/display piece, but if you're expecting to crawl over more than a keyboard, buy the SCX-24.
Yes, true. We came to similar conclusions in our Best Mini Crawler video where we compared the Enduro24, SCX24, Mini-Z 4X4 and Panda X1: ua-cam.com/video/8MCo3dMKF60/v-deo.html -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Thanks for the reply! I'll check that video out too, I've been interested in the Panda x1. Anyone interested in running normal three wire servos or the other "industry standard" parts in their Mini-Z should check it out! He's also got great scale accessories, I've ordered from him twice now.
WOW $199.99 for a 1/24 scale, That's Insane! For a $100 more you can get a 1/10 scale RedCat Gen8 Scout II. Its an awesome little crawler but not at that price.
I want one! The only issue for me is the batteries. Lipo batteries float my boat a lot more. The scx24 looks cool too but it just doesnt have the same good look and small size.
Don't be afraid of the AAAs, a simple set of Duracell rechargeable Nimh batteries gives 2 to 3 hours of runtime and power they provide is more than enough. If you must use lipo power, it's a super simple mod.
If you want a cheaper option would definitely go axial scx24 it’s just as capable but the main difference you getting in the mini z is the body shell detail if you don’t care to much about looks the scx24 is 120 and I love mine
If you want something larger I would recommend the traxxas trx4 or the axial scx10 which is what the scx24 is based on but having a larger car your gonna have to expect to pay more
I’m buying an RC for my 3 year old car obsessed cousin and this seems perfect! Small, slow, looks amazing, and climbs well. I’m going to put some of the optional LEDs as well!! Gonna be awesome

That's a Pretty STEEP price for a 1/24 scale crawler. $199.99 is way out of my budget on a crawler this size. I already have the 1/24 SCX24. Shave off about $100.99 and it will be right on target for more sales. I own quite a bit of 1/10 crawlers and it's tough spending that on those types of rigs. Jeep getting a bit aggressive on pricing for the 1/24 bodies. Cheap tires and 4 triple A's isn't a lipo like my SCX24. I just ordered 2 more scx24's for just a little more than this rig. Thanks for shedding light on this Very Expensive 1/24 rc rig.

I have got the Jimny and I am very pleased with it. But the Jeep looks awesome! As it has the same wheelbase as the Jeep, it should be possible to exchange the body, right?
