100% agree on getting the small-scale first! I recently got one, I wanted to get the 1/10 trx4 so bad. But all in, that's at least 600 bucks when you factor in the cost of the battery & the charger if you don't already own one. I picked up a 1/24th scale instead, had literally everything I needed in the box to run it as soon as I got home, even came with batteries for the radio. It's a blast to set up little courses using random household objects in my living room, but truthfully I really don't use it that often, so I'm glad I didn't shell out six or seven hundred bucks on the 1/10 scale. I think I'm going to get one eventually, I do have a few places near me that would be fantastic for a large scale crawler, but I'll wait till the weather gets better.
I’ve been doing RC crawling since I was eight and not gonna lie it’s been so much fun, also just funny to see a tiny car go like seventy degrees upwards on a rock bed and make it over easy.

I partially torn my tendons in my right knee last year, which led to "only" 5 months of resting the leg. Which I am bad at, since when I broke my thumb at 10 yrs old, I rode bmx in skatepark for 14 days with the cast on my left wrist... 5 months of riding a bike using my left leg (cause I'm just stubborn and my arms are too weak to handle walking on crutches to and from college), and my right leg got to about three quarters of the size it was before. Quite literally. I have jeans, that are slim fit, which fit me almost as leggings would. After the 5 months, they were loose around my right leg with about a 3-4cm gap...
Me: those RCs look like a fun indoor activity during these days, I'll buy one. Seth : They come with a bunch of extra parts and accessories. Me : oh, no, here we go again...
Have a traxxas summit. something like a 1\8 monster truck. Bit more of a basher than a crawler, but does come with a low gear... And drive train and suspension is more or less all after market parts now after snapping or twisting various parts due to the twin motor setup, have a set of tracks to throw on, those cost a fair bit.. Yah, fun hobby xD

9:40 love that crawl at the end - those are the best when you're at the perfect angle that the front wheels juuust come up but it still manages to stick. And you just hear the motor workin' hard to keep it going haha
Well I pulled the trigger and got a micro....needless to say...I will be get another as well as these hobbies are just so cool! I have been looking for an SCX24 but they are just not available with the demand and went with the Element Enduro24 and installed sealed bearings to replace the bushings. It is a fun time when I need a break from work.
A huge hurdle for me about UA-cam is you are kind of stuck to a certain topic once you establish a audience. Burns me out before I have even ever started, I can appreciate that you have gone out on a limb here and covered something totally different. Very much respect man. Now I have to buy a micro crawler.

However, to start out with a car that is fast and can jump, (aka not a crawler), you don’t want to spend that much money. The XMAXX is $$$$. The Slash would be a good entry point vehicle, and I’m sure would get numerous people into RC’ing.

The best part about the big ones is they’re easy to work on and you can make them more your own. Motors, drivetrain, gear ratios, suspension, wheels, etc are much easier to upgrade

I personally started with 1/10 as there wasn’t much options in the 1/24. I had 9 big crawlers before I bought my first micro crawler, and man are they good! In my opinion, they are more enjoyable (depending on the terrain) than some of my 10th scale. I have 11 micros crawlers now, still an addiction
I dont care if its bike related, I love old school bike makeovers actual shredding or this new RC stuff. Regardless I'd watch everything you do. It's so well produced and always entertaining

I have 1:10 scale cars including an Axial SCX10 Trail Honcho but today for the fun of it I bought an Enduro24 Sendero Trail Truck. Great little truck.
Another thing, at the lower weight and lower speeds that these go at, you won’t break parts as harshly or as often. My traxxas broke pretty quickly and haven’t fixed it since.
Everyone that’s been asking me what rig I would recommend ALWAYS gets me with the same answer as yours. Get a tiny crawler, you won’t be out of a lot of money AND you can take it literally EVERYWHERE

0:14 i love the videos this guy makes, he can make ANYTHING interesting but its clear he wasnt playing with RC cars 12 years ago. no the mirco crawler scene wasnt as big as it is today but out of the few that existed (anyone remember the losi micro crawlers?) they were very popular.
i would suggest a 1/10 over a micro. much more capable and easier to work on for beginners. furthermore the 1/24 scale are wayy more prone to breaking.
Once I understood the 24s i got my 10. Now that I understand I'm getting my 6 next. It's crazy how much fun u can have learning and understanding these rigs alone let alone driving them. RC is the best hobby I've picked up again since I was a child.

Got a UTB18 Capra last summer, and I love it! So much tinkering to do if you want, and if you use it slow and steady as crawlers should, then it's almost no repairs needed, unlike previous basher RC's I've had in the past.
Had a cycling buddy tell me about this channel, I’m a big RC guy as well. Big high speed bash truggys, race spec 1/10 buggy on the way, and a few crawlers! Including a modded SCX24, and TRX4 Sport. So cool to see you’ve gotten into RC’s as well as cycling!

I did a 24 scale for almost 2 years before I straight up built a kit. You can ball out or save with a kit. The painting process is a blast too.
Most rtr trucks have a kit counterpart.

If you’re getting a micro crawler I recommend getting the Axial SCX24 or if you want a 1/10 scale get the Redcat Gen 8 or Gen 7 pro

One thing I absolutely love about the scx24 is that it uses the same driver bit all the way around the car

This is a good point. There is a lot more you can do with winches and custom light setups etc as well.

I love RC cars and appreciate your enthusiasm. There's a mtb park about a mile from my house thats about to open in spring. I dont have a mtb but I have multiple 10th scale rcs. KEEP UP THE RC CONTENT!! also i watch because of you and your editing style and to learn about mtb's cuz im stoked to ride the new park!!!
