Great vid. Don't apologize for making a long video. As a beginner, I'd rather have a video that is twice as long but covers every single step (like yours does) than having you rush and skip over important steps, or assume we know anything (we don't... yet, but we're learning thanks to you. You rock!

WOW, WOW and more WOW. Seriously you are understating how brilliant your setup is. After 18 hours on lift-off I got the basics. Velocidrone at your settings is VASTLY superior. Thank you so much. Worth every penny to purchase if serious about wanting to fly. Can't wait for next episode

I like how you do everything in one go. No cuts, no edits, or remissions. Gives sense of humanity and displays how passionate you are about the field that you can educate for 20 minutes without breaks. Also builds validity, I believe everything you say is in fact unbiased and in the consumer's best interest. Thanks!

You’ve been an inspiration. About a week ago I jumped into this new adventure. Took your advice and bought myself a FRSkyTrananis. I downloaded the Sim. I quickly realized how absolutely terrible I am. By the end of the day I utilized not just yours but Velocidrones UA-cam channel on starting out. My first day was hitting pylons and flying rough 5 miles in the air on a constant basis. I was at the lowest setting as possible to allow myself to fly a literal boat as slow as possible. Within one week I have turned my camera angle from a 20 to now 35. All my settings are now what yours are on this video. I have since graduated from an open field pylons to Prodangles pylon race. Literally a bunch of rocks with a bunch of pylons. And a couple trees which I have it LOL. But it is teaching me how to hit the gaps and tight corners. I make it even interesting by once hitting the finish line and then going in reverse. I’m currently down to about two laps without crashing the drone on a semi constant basis. I’m now able to going at a moderate 20 to 30 miles an hour throughout the entire course.
Thank you again for all the tips. I believe what I’m gonna do is build my first drone that way I understand how it works. I am mechanically inclined which does help out a little bit. But one of your friends showed me a video on how to solder, which is one of my downfalls. So wish me luck and see you in the sky

Thank you a million times over, Mr. Steele. Excellent, updated, to the point information presented from a real life experienced, professional pilot. I’ve said it before. Every time I think, Mr. Steele has done everything physically possible with an RC Quad, He somehow, continues to surprise me and this time, “ Stoned two birds with one bush?” has also INSPIRED Me to dust My SHARKS off and get back to practicing.Thank you again Mr. Steele

Mr. Steele has so much knowledge that he speaks very fast with confidence and almost loses his breath while trying to convey so much information. I love it. You remind me of myself except that I do not know anything about FPV (until now). Great work. Keep it up. I'll check out your channel for more tutorials. I think you could make the same thing every year just with an update based on what's in the market, prices, new things etc. Blessings

I think you should try liftoff since the recent physics update. Feels far more real than before. The floatyness issue is resolved as far as I can tell. Tommy noticed the same issue in the earlier release.

Thank you! I’ve been practicing with liftoff for the past week. Getting the hang of it but struggling with turns and speed control. Decided to try velocidrone on your advice with your settings and I’m loving it! Feels sooo much better! I can happily weave in and out of the buildings in the city and control my speed to make much sharper turns! Thanks! 😁

Thanks for this series! This totally has made me decide to move on this and start learning to fly fpv. Have been flying a spark fpv, but with controller connected to phone. But seeing learning with a hundred dollar radio and 20 sim makes me realize this is more doable than I thought!

Thanks so much for this. As a newbie, we are often left in the dark by experienced pilot that have long forgotten what it's like to know nothing about the basics. This tutorial will avoid us developing bad habits by learning in an unrealistic way, and then having to re-train muscle memory etc when starting all over again with a kwad irl. Thanks :) Nice fairy lights btw ;)

You are absolutely right. I started last year maybe October with the Taranis QX7 and Liftoff/Freerider. Didn't know about Velocidrone back then. Then Goggles and hook them up to simulator if possible that helped me also. The Acrobee was not only fun but very good for learning. It took a while to get the tools and components to build my first quad. Then of course I crashed it ...but I knew how to fix it ....At this time I now can fly full acro and not break anything on my 210mm quad. So don't give up. Thanks to Mr Steele, Joshua Bardwell, Ledrib, Andy RC, FPV academy, and Curry Kitten...to name a few. Lot of good information out there. And I am in my late 50's. So you can do it if you keep at it. Thanks again for the inspiration.

Taking it one step farther, I then feed computer hdmi out to my goggles and fly with them on just like "real life". I found it prepared me a little better than watching a monitor. I did quickly realize I needed to map a couple of switches for common things you need on the keyboard though. That keeps me from having to take the goggles on and off a bunch to just hit the keyboard for reset and such.

Thanks for sharing and a big thumbs up for the velocidrone settings, good info for all not just beginners. I've had it running OK ish from the rates page but had never bothered with the Quad Settings page - makes a big difference. BTW - the very basic Tutorials on You tube from Velocidrone are great for total beginners to understand how the controls interact with each other, how to make turns and how to interpret what they are seeing on the screen to what the simulated quad is actually doing. Will help get the most out of their hour a day, my kid used them to begin with and was up to speed real quick.

Getting by your own to a spot, putting the goggles for the first time, hands shaking, heart pumping, is a really great feeling but can be daunting at the beginning. For me Velocidrone was and is the perfect tool for getting the feel for the controls and practicing. It's really important to get consistent and relaxed with basic flying before putting a 5'' in the air :)

When I bought my RC I mistakenly ordered a mode 1. I was gutted! When it arrived I immediately got the screw driver out, unscrewed the two pots, swapped them over so the non-spring throttle was now in the left, and reconfigured the controls with the RC settings menu. I was SO relieved that I could convert it over to a true mode 2 RC!!! I can't guarantee that will work for all RCs, but if you do mess up just give it a try. It worked for me!

I️ just got a qx7 and you missed a few crucial parts, but I️ know there’s a lot of info to get into the vid. A few things for those who just got the qx7: 1) I️t doesn’t come with a battery so you’ll either have to go broke using AA’s or get a lipo like most people. I️ got rechargeable AA’s and they’re working awesome. 2) The throttle centers when you get I️t new, so you’ll have to take the four screws out of the back and disable that spring.
Check out project blue falcon’s playlist for a complete set up of the qx7, it’s awesome.
    Love you, Steele :,)

Returned liftoff and got velocidrone instead because of this video and I'm so glad I did!! It's way nicer as a simulator and I don't care about the game side at all.

Nice vid Steele! I fly velocidrone on those rainy days when I can't fly my real quad. I liked freerider fpv on my tablet but it doesn't compare to velocidrone as far as that realistic feel goes. I'm gonna have to try out your settings and see if it makes my velocidrone experience better. Thanks again!

I am super grateful for you making this video! I just bought my first ever radio recently and followed this video to the letter. I'm flying on the sim now and it's a lot of fun!! Seems I can fly ok but the second I start going for the gates I really suck 😂

Sorry, I have to comment again. I am having a break to digest all the gold nuggets, and I am only half way in this video. Huge thumbs up. I am impressed :-D you have a lot of teatcher potential. Looking so much forward to the rest of this series, and I will refere to this series, if anybody asks me how to get into fpv/drones. Hopefully there will be a build part and trubbleshooting part too.

Great vid, have velocidrone for a while. But setting it up properly is even more of a thing then finding the one tune on a real quad. Gonna try this for sure

How to FPV is really important for those beginners like me! Really appreciated! Can't believe how much it means to us, it quickly lead us to a correct path to FPV. I just bought the sim cable yesterday, I will be building the drone once the parts arrive. Can't wait to see the next video, when do you think is it gonna come out?

Got my QX7...got Velocidrone...Working on getting stick time. Can't thank you enough for the guidance. Looking forward to the rest of the series, and following one step at a time. Stone-cold, geezer, mechanical idiot, noob here. So far, you have not forgotten to tell us to "keep peddling" when attempting to "ride the bike". Some lessons are best learned by failing, but it's nice to know when that is likely ;-)

I have problems controlling the quad in velocidrone. I can just jump in and fly with liftoff out of the box. I'm looking forward to trying your settings because I could never get velocidrone to feel right.

Awesome video series Mr Steele. I follow your videos a long time. One thing to mention i always dislike is that people always talk about mode 2 and mode 1. Mode one is weird and not used that often when it comes to drones or helis which are nearly the same in controls. The right explanation is that mode 2 is the regular way a right handed person controls the model and mode 3 is what left handed person use. Mode 1 has throttle on the right like mode 3 but it mixes up the controls completely while mode 3 just changes the whole sticks from left to right which a left handed like me uses.

I can hardly wait to see your part3. I use all your setting. I can almost feel weight of drone and i can easily control the drone as to do anything as i want now. I like the way you playing fpv. no modem equipment, always pursuit same feel of drone. In Taiwan, very hard to find a place safe to play 5". Thx your video from beginning and hope your channel keep growing. also keep yourself health. 萬事如意
