Unfortunately, koopa the quick is loaded all the time, so there's no way to clone him. To clone an object, you have to load it while you're holding a fake object, but certain objects (like koopa the quick) only load when you start the course, and then never again. Chain chomp's pivot on the other hands loads when you go close, so that is how I clone it.

At one point it looked like I was holding nothing, so I made tons of dust to see if I would clone that, but I didn't, so I figured the pivot point MUST be active in my hands. And when I threw it I was right! Still much easier on the emulator though.

The developers of this game would be able to speak to why many of the symptoms and behaviors of these glitches actually occur and could (after refreshing their memory by reading the source) give us some more insight into other ways the game could be glitched. Unlike modern games, these games are written in assembly, so the developers are/were intimately familiar with every memory address, instruction, and routine, and would actually be able to predict how corruption would progress through memory or how race conditions could cause other unintended behavior. Nowadays, games are written so high-level that bugs are generally logical in nature and aren't as beautiful as the types of things that happen in unmanaged, non-typesafe, non-secure code (where code and data is rapidly interchangeable, overflows and bounds checking doesn't occur, and there rarely is any error handling).
@@QuinGracia No. The HOLP doesn't update because of the hat in hand glitch that he has executed prior to cloning the pivot point. Usually the HOLP updates as soon as you pick something up but with the glitch it stays where you put it until you get rid of the hat in hand glitch (by getting another hat)
What if after making Chomp reappear, but before touching the ground, you collected a star, or an 8th red coin (and still don't land, so *that* scene plays)? What if you land on a teleporter? I think the reason for the splash sound is that every course has a water plane at some height. In BOB it's below the course, but Chomp can still hit it.
Rena Kunisaki Just tested everything. • spawning the red coin star: the star spawns, then chain chomp cut scene • collecting a star: Mario collects the star (no chain chomp cut scene) • entering the cannon: Mario enters the cannon normally (no chain chain chomp scene) • teleport: first chain chomp cut scene, then teleport • landing near big bob-omb: first chain chomp cut scene, then king bob-omb speech • landing near koopa the quick: Mario can move around while chain chomp is waiting, the camera angle/Mario's movements are weird, Mario can activate chain chomp by C up (or something like that) Only that last one has an interesting effect. I may make a video about it.
in BOB there is no water level. If you want to see it, just press C up while being near a wall (so you can control the camera through the wall). You'll see there's only a background.
No there's nothing beneath the stage, if there was, you'd be able to walk off the edge of the course. The edge of the course dosent have an invisible wall around it, the game just won't let Mario go above and area without a floor below it, so there's literally nothing stopping Mario walking off the edge if there was a floor below. (Do note that water is just a special type of floor that makes Mario swim whenever he is on it)
3:22 My bet, it was easier for them to give every map a pit of water that they could adjust the height of for maps that have water everywhere below a certain point. Tiny Huge Island, Wet Dry World, and Dire Dire Docks come to mind. The water would probably be just above the floor of the death barrier. Low enough that we'd never interact with it ourselves, but high enough for the devs to easily modify the height. For later maps that you can easily see to the death barrier they probably got rid of the water but since there's nowhere in BoB that you can see down to the death barrier they probably just didn't see the point.
Nah you can never override a clone that's live. So if the object that you have the clone of is currently loaded (such as if the ball is visible and in your hands) then it's impossible to change it anything else until you unload ball (by going far away enough so that it disappears). Even invisible clones (like the pivot) can't be overridden while they're loaded. So if it looks like you're holding nothing and you can't override it, you're probably holding something invisible.
The reason that the pivot clone activates where you cloned it and not where you dropped it must be that its position is dependent on the post. So although you are moving around, it refuses to move because the post is not moving.
When I was young, I always used to think that when Chain Chomp leaped over the white hill and onto the mountain, he would become one of the bowling balls falling down the mountain. Probably because they're both black balls.
No that's actually king bob omb who does that, when you start the level for the first time, the pit at the bottom of the mountain hat 2 balls in it, but when you defeat king bob omb, there's 3

Actually he will come back, but he must travel billions of both positive and negative vertical parallel universes (vertical PUs or VPUs) until he finally lands on land of the main course.

How could you activate the cutscene if you were in a PU? The chain chomp post is way back in the main map. If you had QPU speed when you freed chain chomp, it would all be canceled out by the ground pound, so I don't think it's possible. (My profile pic is of Mario in a PU so I am probably a reliable authority on this matter)

No, you can't clone koopa the quick because he loads when you start the level. To make a clone of an object, you have to be holding an empty slot that an object is about to load into. So when that happens, you will be holding a clone of that object.
