I'm not joking when I say this game literally reminded me why I fell in love with games in the first place.
Yeah man I feel the same, I feel like I'm a kid again playing video games, new fresh fun and my heart is racing (I mean it's really beat real fast with exitement)
Idk but same feel back to old days to childhood again
Cool story, great music, and quality loli. What's not to love?
Kudos man, of all the games that release nowadays, Ys is one of the relatively few that's never stopped being awesome in everything it does and this game was no different.
@@megasoniczxx I think Tales of series is doing good job too.
This is the kind of first level music that keeps you hooked for a whole game
10/10. Would willingly to remove my memory from this game just to play it all over again for the first time.
@UR WRONGxD The story is good.. but like all Ys, The ending is pretty badly written.. Oath in Felghana is probably the best ending so far in Ys series IMO.
Honestly. This song hit me like a truck when I first played it.
Also, I wouldn't say the ending to this game at all. It's done pretty well especially for Ys standards. The series has always been focused on the gameplay more than anything.
@@dangerousshoes The story of YS is always pretty good compare to Final Fantasy which is so generic except 7 and 8.. However like all Ys games, the ending will always be tragic. At least the ending here is better than Ys 7.. But i still prefer the ending of Oath in Felghana as the best of all series (Since Memories of Celceta is the turning point of the series where Adol became an Adventurer instead of your typical swordsman).
@@KaitoRyuga
That's definitely an opinion on the Final Fantasy stuff, but I'll leave that alone. I don't really remember Oath in Felghana's ending too well, probably because it was kinda basic. Adol kills Galbalan, saves Felghana, leaves Elena and everyone else to find adventure somewhere else, and so on and so forth. Which is something that can be said about most of Ys, just swap some of those names around. Can't say much about Celceta, though. Never got to play it. Ys 8's ending (mainly the true ending) was something a lot different from the rest of the series, and I thought that was nice.
@@KaitoRyuga I honestly see no difference story wise between jrpgs, they seem all very bad. So I only managed to play 2 of them, FF12 and Xenoblade because I liked the combat.
This one sadly has similar bad combat to story, some easy generic button mashing :(
it hasn't been a year since i played this game and hearing this again makes me almost tear up already for unknown reason. now i can't imagine the feeling i'll get 30 years from now
Word for word I could've posted this comment. This game is a gem and the memories surely will too
Yeah this game has moved me in a special way I can't explain. I knew Adol and the passagers were gonna get off the island eventually but I never wanted it to end. It's gonna be glorious to replay this masterpiece.
I am in a similar spot, except i havent played a single Ys game yet. I am here because of Adols Theme of this part of the Series. His Theme also made me buy some Titels. I am looking forward to experience what Adventures lie ahead of me and what soundtrack is going to get me dancing mad.
Recently went to Cuba for a resort vacation. I totally listened to this while running on the beach every morning. It was pretty great.
Respect, yo
Respect indeed.
@@TainoMoya Ricotta: Indeed!
holy shit that`s fucking pathetic hahaha , shit, guys, you really need some medical help.
but the music is cool wtf with you?
Falcom really knows how to blend their instruments seamlessly. Literally music to my ears.~
I mean yea? It's music?
they have an entire team working on this instead of just one composer.
@@GiordanDiodato Most of Falcom's masterings are mostly done by Unisuga (composer of this track) tho
@@d3ly746 So? They still have instrument experts that know when to come and what to play in that section.
Plot twist: This is music
A game that made me care so much for the npcs, i loved building
the camp area and the finale where we all leave and say goodbye hurts :(
Level 1 music overpowered, please nerf.
Ys never fail in the soundtrack!
@@rapidfire9999 puh-lese this is Falcom we're talking about. ALL of their music is OP
@@IanDouglasVO But is a too bad that Nihon Falcom isn't popular like Square Enix.
@@rapidfire9999 considering how jacked up the trails in the sky release was it comes as no surprise. Cold steel have made people more aware of Falcom and Tokyo Xanadu ex+ was the final straw that made Falcom go "What? We have a western audience?"

Ys VIII was my first Ys game and i have to say that is one of the best JRPG's of this gen and sadly it's totally underrated. The music is simply amazing. Can't wait for Monstrum Nox localization.
Same dude! I’m having an absolute blast just exploring what I can. I also love Dana’s character design. I thought she was a short little cutie, but she was just short for her time period. lol
Pass your time catching up on the rest of the series. Totally worth it.
The Ys series as an all is underrated, but hey at least Ys VIII FINALLY make this serie some most deserve recognition.
play ys 7! it takes place after the story of ys 8
You will be disappointed... Monstrum Nox is nothing compared with Lacrimosa of Dana
This is such an interesting game. My brother had a stack of Switch games and I was trying them. When I got to this one, it absolutely blew me away. I'm a hardcore gamer and never heard of the series. But after this game, I'm a fan. It is one of the best RPGs I have played in a while. Just had that magic that so many games this day in time don't have.
Exactly. This game is a hidden gem. The 2 other JRPG that gave me similar feelings are the Tales of series and the Xenoblade series.
Yes tales of series fantastic! Xenoblade as well! Great choices
Definitely try out Xenoblade, I liked Ys 8 a ton. If you got a playstation console then also try Nier Replicant and Persona 5 Royal
@@trollinlikeamadafaka5127 Not only the Tales of Series but also the Trails of Series too. The Star Ocean series and Phantasy Star Series is good too if you like Scifi genres.
@@JavaJoe1119 The ones your talking about are probably Xenoblade, Xenoblade X and Xenoblade 2. True fans have also played Xenogears and the Xenosaga Trilogy. The Super Androids from The Xenosaga Trilogy makes a cameo as a Super Rare final Blades in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Their names are KOS-MOS and T-elos.

When I started this game and was playing the first 5-10 hours of plot i couldn't have imagine that this masterpiece was gonna make me feel the way it felt. Just amazing... the plot, the characters, the music. I wish I could play it again without knowing anything about the story. Forever Dana.
If you can, do try out Dragon Quest 11. In recent memory, only Ys 8 and DQ 11 have made me choke up at certain points in those games.
@@matosz23 i will! Ty!
Fully deserved million. Finally!
The YS series is the reason I haven’t stopped gaming tbh
This is so fucking amazing. I know that Ys has always had some of the most amazing music in gaming, but this is just on a whole other level.
yeah! its gives me vibes even after 50th time; On a saddes day in life this music would cheer me up to the fulness
So accurate :) That's what it does to me, even on a shittier days...this music just lift me up :) Can't wait for the game, 12 more days until preorder comes!
trails series musics > YS musics although they're composed by the same team or person, but imo, i prefer trails
Um, it's not.the older games had great music into think the same band makes the music for the series anymore. The last ys game that had good music was the psp games. The music fell off after the psp games.
@@redcrimson1028
Oh well... i love the music in all Ys games
This game. What an a amazing experience it was. So glad i played it.
yeah!?
Man I can't wait to get there. Gonna start origin soon.
I went in with low expectations, just thought it would be your typical anime JRPG that would be an alright experience..and was completely blown away by it. Such a great cast of characters and story, with a really fun gameplay and OSTs. Trying to get through the other Ys games, but I just can't help but feel I would rather play Ys 8 over the older ones.
Zura damn dude, I feel the old famicom games beat this one by far
@@rambact5769 for most people their first introduction to a specific thing tends to be the best for them, to me YS seven is the best even tho there is Oath of Felghana and others that are better according to the people's opinions

That moment when your character wakes up on the beach with this song playing and the whole island to explore... I wish i could lose my memory just to relive that moment again

I just started the game this week, got to the shore and this track hit me and I instantly got hooked
I felt immediately hooked too when I first heard this song here on UA-cam a couple of years back. It’s what got me to get this game, and is what got me interested in Falcom in general
Hope you enjoy your adventure!
I started this game literally immediately after the end credits of Ys Seven had finished rolling and I had spent a well over 100 hours on that amazing game. And once I started playing this, I was blown away because I couldn't believe how phenomenal this game was! I Finished it twice, spending a couple more hundreds of hours and enjoying every single millisecond of the game and it's incredible music. Memories of Celceta was also an amazing game. And so was The Ark of Napishtim, the game where it all began. Not a single track in the whole series that's NOT 10/10
And then I started searching what else Falcom has to offer, and soon enough, I found the legend of Heroes series, which is *just* as amazing. The level of quality these guys can keep up is out of this world.
一番最初のステージの音楽がこれだもんな。ワクワクが止まらねぇわ
Woah..... The first few second of me listening to this was.... Heavenly...... *OMG* I can't believe something like this exist. What beauty....

This song is just pure joy to me. The thrill that Adol feels when he starts out on a new adventure comes across almost perfectly in this. Can’t imagine a better song to start a game with and it certainly helps that Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is one of the best games Falcom has ever made in their long history.
Still in shock I've only just learned of Falcom 8 months ago; Kiseki and Ys are easily the best jrpg series I've ever played with the BEST osts aswell.
Fellow relative newcomer here, I can't believe it took me so long to find it too!
Same here started on trails of cold steel and haven't looked back!
I’ve been playing Falcom games for years now, I first played the English translations of the Ys games for Famicom, these games are fucking amazing but I was really disappointed with VIII, it didn’t live up to my standards. But the music is as good as always :)
@@rambact5769 Yeah it sorta went into trashy territory while still being relatively YS like. My favorite is YS origin. I still enjoyed YS VIII though but yeah, the YS series should not be 40 hours long with waifu bait crap.

Yes, it's a very distinct style. You know Ys music when you hear it.
Recently just played this game. Can say it is easily one of my favorite games I've played in years.
I loved it more then the most recent title they put out for it. Felt really short and small compared to this game. Plus loved the characters in this one way more.
AWESOME Falcom, you did it again.

Ys' music and plot is legit life changing Such a beautiful experience. Glad my bro got me into it.
軌跡シリーズしかやってこなかった自分にとってイース8は衝撃だったなぁ、ファルコム様々っすわ
This song is stuck in head since the very early hours of playing this game. I don't seem to grow tired of this song at all - it's still SO good, even though I listening to it on repeat countless times. That's when you know a song is a true masterpiece.
Somehow this theme captures the "adventure vibe" perfectly, if that's saying it right. When this theme drops as you start to explore the island, that feeling of hearing it the first time is pure magic.
本当にそう思う。魔法のような曲ですよね!何度も何度もこの曲を聞いてるが、飽きることがない!
@@fp2608 I chose to stay in the first area of the game for a long time. I usually dislike repeatedly defeating the same enemies many times, but this song made it fun. I didn't even need to do that, but I wanted to!
Falcom has recently become my favorite developer of JRPGs. I'm tired of Square-Enix and other companies due to them becoming westernized... Especially because the current form of westernization is particularly bad due to strange modern politics being forced into everything...
@@Vulpas"strange modern politics being forced into everything..." LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Trails, y'know the series that Falcom is most well known for, doesn't feature modern politics. Sure, let's ignore the fact that Crossbell is heavily inspired by Hong Kong and the message and resolution is that it can (and should) be a free country. Sure, let's go ahead and ignore that the curse of Erebonia as we see it in Cold Steel is in essence, ultranationalism and fascism. Not to mention, this doesn't even include Trails through Daybreak, which isn't officially out yet over here in the west. Its message isn't even the slightest bit subtle and practically bashes you over the head with it.
Did you play the games at all or are you actually so incapable of having any semblance of media literacy?
the game was amazing, thank you Falcom for the fun experience ^_^
2 years later after playing this game and I still can't stop listening to this godlike track
Listening to this music feels like the beginning of an adventure. Ys series best note
This jam (and Soundtrack as a whole) has become my favorite Ys track. And possibly one of my favorites in all gaming.
Can't wait to play it. (Waiting for steam ver.)
2017's Best and yet Coolest Theme to have ever been well created!! This Music definitely brings a whole new level of Music into the World of Ys Series.
You know what, this is a banger and makes me want to play more of the game. It is so well composed that it blends into the action on screen almost perfectly so much so that combat almost feels like a rhythm game.
When i first heard this composition i couldn`t believe my ears!! Having played all Ys games except the 5th one i can clearly tell this song is so damn unique compared to other Ys OSTs. Jdk Band did a great job composing a melody that would remind me of a breezy sea on a coast
And opening in this game is a whole new experience for me! It`s so romantic! It feels like watching anime (same as in Ys I&II Chronicles)
I love you, Falcom guys! I`m for Adol and Feena shipping :)
nahhh Adol X Adventuring is a better ship
@@_kazz2926 You got me there XD Well said! Waiting for Ys IX
i played both versions of Ys V (SNES and PlayStation 2). They're not very good to be honest. In fact, the PS2 version of Ys V is my number one least-favourite game in the entire series, haha. (i still beat it anyway just cause I felt like it). Hopefully they make a new version of Ys V that's actually good, just like how Oath in Felghana was an amazing new version of Ys III, compared to Wanderers from Ys which was extremely mediocre.
このワクワクする感じすきだわぁ
I'm overjoyed beyond words that our humble planet has been blessed by Falcom Sound Team jdk. They are Gods, descended from heavens. We were not worthy of this level of epicness... ♥️

I used to play Ys books one and two and the music was always so incredible! So it’s great to hear the same great music style in this game! Takes music to another level and makes this game even more amazing. I truly feel like I’m on an epic adventure!
With how amazing this is I can't wait to hear Cold Steel 3's OST.

THAT BASSLINE THOUGH
One brilliant use of this song, as I have seen at one utuber's video about YS8, is combining it with the game's intro. He turned a moderately melancholic opening into an exciting one, fitting for an adventure
The joy and excitement of adventure! This could literally play for every overworld area in the game and I wouldn't care. It's that good.
You know the game's gonna be good when the STARTING AREA music is a banger
this is without a doubt the most beautiful fucking music I have ever heard. I am so glad I got this game.

First heard this song from this exact upload of yours back in 2019, been listening to the amazing Ys music by Falcom ever since.
Just 2 weeks ago I finally started my first Ys game - Ys VIII, what an unbelievable game this is. Apart from a few nit picks here and there I loved everything about it. The gameplay, the setting, the music, the characters, the plot; it was all one big adventure and what a ride it was.
I highly recommend this game to anyone, even if you aren't particularly familiar with JRPG's.
The battle type (slash, pierce, and the third one), and the map are probably my two biggest nitpicks. I wanted to use Adol and Dana in my party but if i did i would be at a big disadvantage against certain enemies due to both of them being slash. And the map was not really all the helpful in trying to figure out how to get to certain areas. Also given how long chapter 2 was i feel like there should have been another party member to join in that chapter. But overall its a fantastic game. I'd give it 9.0, or even 9.5 if i am generous.
It's probably the best starting point for modern players, but I like Ys: Memories of Celceta more.
@@zackfair6791well, if you already finished the game at least once, you can play on a certain endgame dungeon, where you can get a slash, strike, pierce medals each
Use that medal on your character's accessory slot so they can do that kind of damage too
I have never had the first song in a game make me fall in love with it before this one.
Stepping out of castaway village for the first time to this banger instantly sold me on this game
