For me, it's not the actual portrayal but the setup lines uttered and reaction of hardened criminals getting their minds blown. We have all heard people threaten to break their foot off or heard someone say to another to get their head out of someone's rear. This is the first time I've seen it portrayed. ITS not the actual visual but the dialog before and the reaction of hardened criminals shutting down and experiencing a morbid life changing event. Everyone kept calling him a a-hole and he had a unbelievable response. so welcome to make believe and they pulled it off in a funny just way........
The Sandford And Son theme was the perfect touch for that scene 🤣🤣. There should have been an old man looking like Fred Sandford saying "That's what happens when you try and pick a fight with a guy with super powers, DUMMY"🤣🤣🤣🤣
to be fair they probably thought he had lost his powers.. I mean, why else would have ended up in prison. surely someone that still had superpowers wouldn't have just allowed themselves to be arrested and sent to prison.
People act surprised like inmates can't be foolish like this but they can... some years back we had an east coast mafia guy brought into our west coast jail on a hold out of New Jersey. We got 3 phone calls from 3 different state and federal agencies about him before he ever even made it into custody. I have dealt with plenty of bad guys including murderers but NEVER in my entire career did we have multiple agencies calling us ahead of time to tell us/warn us about anyone like that aging mafia guy. He was no small guy either, almost 6 and a half feet tall. Some inmates tried to "befriend" him, but he wanted nothing to do with it & just essentially swatted them away like annoying little flies telling them to f*ck off. I worked graveyard at the time which meant we passed the meds to the inmates & usually it was just one lone deputy in each unit. But not while the mafia guy was there, without me ever saying a word, the giant stoic former infantry Marine I worked with stood right next to me at the med cart. He never said a word about why he was there right next to me but I knew. It was unspoken but he knew that I knew. The aging mafia guy never gave us any problems and left not long after. But now I can't remember if it was the feds that picked him up or not...

Because they didn't knew who Hancock was as they may have been in the jail for a long time. Or maybe they knew him & also knew that he's surrendered himself for applying good behavior so that's why they were tryna poke him , but the fact is you never test a savage neghga no matter how good he behaves.
they probably think since Hancock now in jail, it mean he lose his power and the police could arrest him well, since they're in jail, they not that up to date about the news... lol
Yes my first thoughts too buttttttt let me play Devils advocate. Maybe they thought that if he still had his powers, he wont be in there by his own free will. So i suspect they might have a rumour mill going around that it might be the case or that his powers are significantly diminished. Hence the confrontation in a big group. However, if the writers wanted us to think that, at least give a 2 min segment showing the inmates talking about this and convincing each other that it was the case.

Besides, this film really was all about teaching the importance of morals and ethics to kids. For example...hr told the guy what would happen if he didn't move. Now how is that showing that a man should always keep his promise if he backed down? Integrity is so important in prison after all. :)

For me, it's not the actual portrayal but the setup lines uttered and reaction of hardened criminals getting their minds blown. We have all heard people threaten to break their foot off or heard someone say to another to get their head out of someone's rear. This is the first time I've seen it portrayed. to be fair they probably thought he had lost his powers..

As funny as this scene is, he obviously put them there and they would have seen what he was capable of. Why would they think they could take him?
Because they didn't knew who Hancock was as they may have been in the jail for a long time. Or maybe they knew him & also knew that he's surrendered himself for applying good behavior so that's why they were tryna poke him , but the fact is you never test a savage neghga no matter how good he behaves.
they probably think since Hancock now in jail, it mean he lose his power and the police could arrest him
well, since they're in jail, they not that up to date about the news... lol
Because its stupid script
Lazy writing.

OH, GOD!! Between the outcome of the scene itself, everyone’s horror and the Sanford & Son theme in the background… THAT WAS PRICELESS!! 🤣🤣🤣
This film got so much hate, but it was quietly brilliant. I mean seriously...how do you even begin to think you are going to pick a fight with the strongest, most indestructible guy in the room and NOT end up with someones head going up someone else's ass!?!?
Besides, this film really was all about teaching the importance of morals and ethics to kids. For example...hr told the guy what would happen if he didn't move. Now how is that showing that a man should always keep his promise if he backed down? Integrity is so important in prison after all. :)
The film was fine until the second half. Or last third. Or whatever portion of the film it was where they completely lost the plot.
I think the final third of the film is what people generally dislike. Up until the past relationship reveal it was a pretty authentic deconstruction. Then it just became a bunch of contrivances.
