Bought my 36mm explorer from an AD, walked in bought it right away. It's a good size for my 7" wrist and i do not care about resale value.

Does not make sense at all. What if someone wants a 28 Datejust and is willing to pay a premium for the security of buying a guaranteed genuine watch at the AD? Where does the "never ever buy at an AD" come in to play in that scenario? Same with all the other watches on the list. The presenter clearly lives in a bubble.
The thing about buying from an AD or the brand is you also get invited to their events and its worth it

Hello Adrian, within 6 months from walking for my first time. I got a S.S Sub date then I a 2024 WG Daytona oysterflex Blk/steel sub dial. If no one is getting these watches then how are you getting them?

For my 30th in five years, I’m planning to buy myself Rolex OP 36mm sliver dial
Can’t decide which sub to get. TT black and gold and SS. I have a friend who works at Rolex who can get me either watch in 30 days. I can’t decide!?!? I am 41 yrs old married with 2 kids. I am not a flashy guy so I automatically want the SS. But I like the TT look. I just don’t know if I would feel too self conscious in it since it’s more flashy. I don’t like attention. I like to be under the radar. I would also only wear it on the weekends due to my job and area I work at. Im not planning on purchasing multiple Rolex watches. So I want to make the right choice. I like the TT look but I think I would feel more comfortable in the blending original classic SS. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Oh! I have three Explorer's the 1016, the 14270 and the 39mm 214270 mk2 dial, I can't understand the absolute hate from second dealers regarding this model.
I went to a dealer a month ago and he said he won't touch the 39mm version, he said it's the black sheep of the Rolex line.
Sad to hear this, but I like it regardless, all I need is the time.
oddly, explorer 36 is the only rolex I'd wear - it's minimalist and not showy. I also don't like motif bezel, cyclop, jubilee bracelet - they look old.

Love your work Adrian but I have to say that the sole reason you recommend not buying these watches from an AD revolves around the re-sale value plunging immediately after purchase. What if you actually like the watch and don't plan to resell it or "upscale' to a better model?

You are completely wrong on so many fronts. Don't understand the comments about the Explorer. Also, I've bought a white dialled 1908 and it is a wonderful watch and very well priced new from the AD in my view.

Tbh guys im just being patient, my local AD (not a big city AD), has told me just to be patient and ill get my watch. Hasnt put any pressure on me to buy things I dont want. Waiting for any SS GMT besides the lefty bc im a righty lol

Sounds good to me. The Sky Dweller just isn't a good looking watch, the functions and adjustments are too unusual, IMO.
All the popular models have one thing in common, the Oyster case, 100m water resistance.
I'd say 100m and 200m are the best in terms of watches having a long life. Lesser cases like dress watches usually will suffer some internal moisture damage.
Higher water resistance just adds more bulk and weight for most uses.
So.....resale value should be my number one concern when buying the watch I want? My first expensive watch was a Grand Seiko GMT 6k...its still my most valued watch to me...I own two Rolex and a Tudor....Hamilton, Tissot, Seiko..G-Shock.....Grand Seiko is my Fav.....it has nothing to do with resale value....Im not a used car dealer I am the end user....Cheers.
All Rolexes except Daytonas, 40-41mm steel sports watches, DJ with fluted/jubille with green/blue/wimbledon dials, steel skydwellers, and few in demands dials for OP/Day Date/etc are no buys for me from AD.
36mm for me is the best size to wear day in day out whilst wearing a shirt. 41mm and above is too big for me in my opinion. Also the Explorer 1 is a classic one watch collection 👌🏽
The AD is not going to make anyone buy anything they don’t want, however if you do like it but instead of buying from them you buy it in the secondary market to save money, well you will have no purchasing history or relationship with your local Rolex authorized dealer so don’t bother asking them to put you on a waitlist for any model that trades substantially higher on the secondary market!!!! Build a relationship with your local AD a lifetime of loyalty and they will probably offer you watch models that trade above Msrp without even asking for them!!!!

People really like the experience of buying a rolex from the actual store. Thats all. If i had 3million in the bank and wanted a 30k watch but was 25k second hand... Id still go to the rolex AD. Just saying. Love your videos man.

Adrian, thank you for sharing your knowledge as to what watches are best ordered on the grey market. Considering the current AD business model, I’ve stopped visiting my local AD’s and prefer to go directly to the grey dealers who want my business. Hope to see more videos like this.

Deepsea gold makes no sense. But we all know that rolex is trying to increase the average sale price of their watches to increase their revenue, profit and more importantly their profile away from the tool watches like GMTs

I would never buy a watch I don’t like just to get another watch. Yup all those Rolex watches are ugly except the Explorer I. That is a clean classic looking watch. Surprised the explorer line didn’t blow up in prices.

To be fair.... all the Daytonas you guys have for sale came from an AD.... probably never going to happen. But someone is going to get lucky.
Sometimes I just feel that AD is a waste of time. I used to buy it from them but the problem is they always ask you to buy all the nonsense watch before giving you what you want and this really spoils the whole idea of watch collecting.

The only watch you’ll ever buy at an a D is the crap the Gray market dealers do not want. Rolex is a scam. They sell all their watches to the market dealers at 20 to 40% premiums so why would they sell to the general public Rolex is a big scam
