Countdown , Australia.
Go to Coles. Is always on when im working.
Amazing ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Relaxing music for rabbits
And not on spotify 😢
I just heard it on the radio today (18/4/22)
Aussie music from the 80's was the best from anywhere on the globe, Aussie bands ruled.
You have Molly Meldrum to thank for that
Mentally trapped in the 80's and 90's musically and I'm happy!
I am now 50, but grew up in the 80s as a teenager, listening to music, and this song has always been special in my heart, and now, in this day and age of tech, it means so much more!!!!! But is still basic at heart, for those who understand where I am coming from!
I am 50 in october this year and I know exactly where your coming from , ahh the 80s.
You know it. New Wave was the way back then. Industry. Class Action. Exploding Parakeet. B-Movie. Eyeless in Gaza. Pseudo Echo. Rational Youth. Vivabeat. YMO. I'm 49 and it all still means a lot and I still feel the 70s and 80s in me. Special times.
so we were both 16 then wow for me this song holds dear memories Life was beautiful and the World was at peace and price inflation wasn't around neither was the GST ; ) i turned 50 not long ago but i don't look it or feel it..God bless
Well put Deb - Im from the same era - the 80's were the best - No Tech :)
Hi deb i am 50 brings 80s music especially Australia bands great music especially in Melbourne great night clubs got there started it called music not the crap we have today music bring back the 80s an stay in the 80s
i’m an american who literally has just discovered this song. the one 80s song i’ve never heard before and I love it! wish it was available digitally to buy in the US.
Dear Enemy was an Australian band
You might also enjoy the song 'Sister' by the Australian band 'Icehouse' as it has a very similar vibe.

Best song, your welcome, awsome song peaches 🍑
Ty jesteś Amerykaninem a ja Polakiem który to odkrył chyba jedynym. I to jest wyczyn😊
Loved it the first time I heard it! I felt Dear Enemy were underated but certainly not by me. It was a fantastic time to be a young adult without the complex problems faced today and when I play this song it takes me back. Would love to re-experience this era again!!!!!
Same, first time I heard it. And it's not a throw away one hit wonder in my opinion. It's an eternal Classic
one of the best Aussie songs
they came from melbourne
Had the pleasure of meeting Ron Martini last year when he was helping out on vocals in a tribute band. . We reminisced about the 80’s & when he used to perform every Sunday night at Cafe Venice in Toorak & I was always there. Watching & listening his great vocals. He loved 🥰 singing those “ Go West “ songs & he gave me a sample of those songs when I was talking to him. Brought a tear to my eyes. Great bloke. He told me “ Dear Enemy “ might be reforming for a few shows next year 👏
Ozzie pub rock at its finest, wish we could go back to those days, the world is a shit place to live in these days.
@@stewartgeorge36 This is 80s. You got lost in time!
I believe they where called StoneWall before as my dad hung with the 2 brothers
@Nicholas Blakeney Sweet, One Perfect Day & Young Hearts are great song's
Flurty Mc Snuzzlebott.....no relation to Slarty Bardfast?
Filmed largely in Building 1 of what is now the University of Technology Sydney, (the famous Tower Building) but was at the time the New South Wales Institute of Technology. It's still recognisable as such, even to this day!
Also filmed in Wynyard station.
4:18 ... that ending is fucking perfect. The drummer, then the frontman's claps, the drummer working it again, shot of the whole band, the drummer a third time, then the guitar chord with the sweeping arm, and finally the keyboard player's hand playing the final notes frantically. The entire thing is amazing and filmed/edited to perfection! Bravo!
One of the best 80ties song in my opinion, very underrated. I still love it to this day
The notion of a computer being like your best friend or like another hand, asking your computer about help with this modern age because of your loneliness... man, this band was really tapping into something huge here. Too bad they didn't last very long.
+promisedeyes Straight up!!! Visionaries, for sure! Awesome tune...I was eleven!!!
thats so true!
@@lhair02 Had a really great sound
Incredibly so !!
_I'm sorry, but as an artificial intelligence language model, I don't have the ability to interpret emotions or understand the specific circumstances of your situation. It's difficult to determine exactly where love went wrong in your relationship, as every relationship is unique and complex. It's important to communicate openly and honestly with your partner, and try to understand each other's perspectives and feelings. If you're struggling with a break-up or relationship issue, it may be helpful to seek support from friends, family, or a mental health professional._
could you imagine that nowadays the computer ACTUALLY CAN answer you? I expected this to happen in 100 years, not now.
Loved it then - love it now. Another Australian classic from an era of classics! Simpler, less hectic times - or am i just old?
Classic song, takes me back to my youth when the world was a far simpler place than the mess we live in today.
Flurty Mc Snuzzlebott I think your looking through rose coloured glasses. 1983 was the period of the nuclear disarmament party because we thought we were about to be blown to smithereens
The world was in as big a mess then but we didn't have the internet to scare the shit out of us all the time.
2021- Hold my beer....
@@jaycarter9210 bull shite, Berlin wall came down and eastern block broke up, fun times and music, unlike today with really ww3 Ukraine ruski war
The covid madness and creeping worldwide authoritarianism and digital surveillance over the past few years is something we should all be worried about. Looking at what is going on in China now, amongst many other things is a warning. The 1970s and 80s - one can only wish for. Memories are all that is left. A simpler time when technology wasn't intruding in every part of out lives, like it is now. And people actually knew how to have conversations. Today, everyone texts and is a slave to their screens. We have devolved physically, mentally, emotionally and most importantly, spiritually.
One of my favourites growing up in the 80's. Very much ahead of its time. It's one of those songs that instantly take you back to a certain point in your life.
Freaking amazing song
Can’t get enough
I miss the 80's so much....
Never get sick of this hit song relates to this day and age with everyone stuck on mobile phone technology and Facebook etc
Back in 1983, I was a student at Eltham High School in Melbourne, and the band came one lunchtime to play a gig for us. It was amazing, the kids felt quite special and grown up, seeing real live music from a popular band. How they got time off work in the middle of the day, I'll never know!
I wonder if anyone else remembers this?
Have'nt heard this classic for over 20 years ( I think it is anyway, it certainly deserved better ratings and playtime and yes it was perhaps inadvertently and adversely way ahead of its time). Great time for a massive comeback !!! or REMAKE !!! Best of 80s !!
I actually worked on Chartbusting 80's at channel 31 In Melbourne as a video tape operator putting these clips to air & I must admit when I saw this video I got a tears In my eyes this brings back so many awesome memories, I got to meet & work with some of the most amazing people In the Industry & I still think about them all & what they are doing now - Josie you will always be a legend In my eyes.
casperblackcat1975 lucky you
80's were the tunes back then still hear them sometimes!!!
Channel 31 had a cult following for its horse racing and harness racing !
casperblackcat1975 respect dude, used to watch that all the time..👍
Josie is a legend. Love that show!
Always loved the keyboards in this song. And Ron has a killer voice.
I seen these guys on the Gold Coast, at the Jetclub, back in the early 80's, they were fantastic, love this Album 🙏🤙💥
havent heard this is years..love it!! the 80's were the best!
My digital radio dial has been stuck on More 80's & 90's lately and they have been playing this lately. Love this old Aussie stuff, Chisel, Men at work, goanna , aussie crawl etc.
Sounds as good today as it did 36 years ago
Great song, from possibly the best music decade.
The 80s were THE BEST😀❤🎸❗🎹 I have thousands of songs on my 35 lists....
Takes me back to good years growing up in Melbourne. Was 12 years old and loved the Aussie pop/rock songs.
This song was way ahead of its time.
Listening to this in 2013, this song sounds remarkably ahead of it's time. Today, talking to a computer doesn't seem quite so silly any more...The song in my mind, is a classic. Love it! :-D
it sure was ahead of its time for an aussie band cool as ever
Pure Gold...read y comment Daniel plz
Visionaries.
One of the best songs ever
Anyone here listening to this classic in 2021?
2024 actually
THIS CLIP SHOULD BE VIEWED BY EVERY SCHOOL KID TODAY JUST HOW FAR WE HAVE COME .
back then in 83 that's all there was . how far have we come is astounding.
I had a old akai model weighed a tonne.
+Hayden Wittig eXCEPT MUSIC HAS GONE TO SHIT
+Ken Shephard YOUR RIGHT KENNY GONE TO SHIT NO FEELING NO SOUL OR CREATIVITY.
Fantastic classic song 👍 grew up with this sort of music, NOTHING like it these days .....
when computers came out this song was developed and it is a brilliant snapshot of of a Melbourne pub band that really made it to the charts. it is a snapshot in history and the song is a number 1 for the time and especially for the direction of the video as I say a snapshot of the 80s 10 out fo 10 GEMFISH
pretty good for 1983/4 amazing aussie talent.. makes me proud
what do you mean for 83/84 .. it was towards the end of the best music era ever , quality everywhere , including this tune
I like his voice, this song and the drumming too. Another classic from the 80s. Fantastic.
Drumming is a drum machine. It'd be better with real drums.
@@swinetrek was real drums. not synth.
I remember cruisin on Friday and Saturday nights with this song pumpin out of the stereo and just lovin life....to be 17 and reliving it all over again. I miss the 80's so much.
Awesome song...just awesome...
In retrospect, what a classic!!
What a song!.. Wow!
What an amazing track takes me back to my High School days.☺️
@skyemtv Ronnie is my Uncle, he is my mother Diannes younger brother, and your very lucky to have such a talented father.. His voice was one of a kind and we were all proud of him.
After so long ago I was reminded just how great this song was and still is what a time that was
great stuff. music these days is so crappy. ahh the memories.
great aussie pub rock still standing strong in 2022
i still love this a hundred years later
Wow. That turns back the clock. I'm pretty sure I still have a glossy Dear Enemy poster rolled up in my garage. Probably nicked it from the Village Green or Prospect Hill. If I'm not mistaken, that's Peter Leslie on bass and Martin Fisher on kb - straight from the bust up of The Little Heroes
Oh wow, I had no idea about the Little Heroes connection. They had some pretty decent tunes as well.
I DRANK WISKY WITH THEM IN GEELONG MANY YEARS AGO AT WOURN PONDS PUB
I watched a clip today of them on UA-cam
I had a beer with them at our local club before they played a gig back in the 80's, decent blokes
Forgot about this classic till I was in Woolworths the other day
i love this song yes the 1980's are the best i was in my 20's then WHAT A PARTY TIME OF MY LIFE GET DRUNK GET LAID GO HOME LOL GO PARTY DAY'S
yeah that's the way it was the best times
Another great Aussie song and perhaps ahead of its time with all the internet dating stuff..
80s rule!!
a true timeless classic!
A new 80s discovery for me, thanks!
I was their FOH Engineer way back then, 81_83 Ron was such a good singer and as for Langers what a lovely man they all were Les a great guitarist. They should have gone much further than they did, but I guess thats the music Industry.
That would have been a great job back then
Does anyone remember the PC computer Shop in Randwick Junction called 'Computer One' circa 1987-1990??? The same Shop is now Eagle Boys Pizza, run by INDIANS. Same thing they've done to the Australian IT industry, really!!!
Still Awesome music
Even today
just stumbled across this 1... haven't heard this in decades
forgotten about it
great synth
great song and yes great voice
thanx guys!!
What a beautiful group of men ❤️❤️ still an awesome song in 2022
Absolutely amazing lyrics for its time, my fav 80's song, Ty Dear Ememy
God bless you for uploading this! Love this song! Great video, too!
This is such an under appreciated classic
What a Voice !!!
As seen here in this documentary video, a species common in the 80's but nearly extinct today: Mulletonis Australianus Vocalistis Boganis.
20ASilva Haha 😂 ya bloody boofhead
Ron Martini has a beautiful voice xxx Love this song so much xxx The whole band is so gorgeous xxxx
Very awesome, one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing this music video!
Wow, look at all that antique computer equipment!
Awesome music, love dear enermy, takes me back to my teens
I remember seeing that perform at my school for some reason. Heidelberg Technical School. And I loved this song from that time onwards
how knew a song back then would be so what we are actually doing so much today
Great band and album. Don’t forget The Good Life ♠️
my band supported them at the Sefton Hotel sydney 1984
brilliant song!!!!
excellent comment Ivan Thort
Shades of Misex in this great song. The song they never did. The 80s had some great songs and acts.
The style of this song and others similar of that era influenced me how I write my music today , , Australian pub rock was a style and culture all its own they were good old days growing up in that decade.
40 years later. Still listening.
Now that's an 80s classic!
I loved the album. This song travelled with me right through yrs 11 and 12.
Never saw the video until now.
Thank you!
Computers have much to answer for don't they keep listening and commenting to this classic song
I loved this album. I wish I still had the LP!
This song absolutely rocks! thanks for posting
I have loved that song for 40 years I reckon,
Absolute Classic ! ❤
OMG I loved this band back in the day!! I met Ron Martini in a pub one night, where he was singing, we got to talking & I told him I loved all their B sides better than the A sides, so when he went back on stage he sang all their B sides for me, YAY RON!!! Does anyone know if you can get their album Ransom Note on CD??
A hit in Australia, and it probably got little or no airplay in North America. Too bad, since it's a catchy tune. And of course it worked the other way. Canadian bands like Idle Eyes(whose founder, Tad Campbell, spent some time gigging in Australia) presumably got no airplay in Australia.
This would have kicked ass in the States if it had a chance...it's right up their alley!
i’m actually an american who grew up in the 80s. had no idea about this song but was recommended it! i was blown away that it was not a thing here. i had such a hard time finding a way to own an album of theirs but lucked out and found an original 1983 vinyl on Amazon during a search recently. so great!
It reached #59 on the US rock charts, so yeah, not enough airplay. Still a fave of mine 40 years on.
Best song ever xo ever and ever. thanks to the singer and writer xoxoxo
i still have the cassette ransom note. dont play it as often . dont want to lose it. one of my favourites.
2023... 40 years later... with today's AI capabilities the lyrics to this song are remarkably apropos...
One of my favourites
Floppy Disk daze !! Ron Martini and the kidz rocking it !! Was a Friend of The Enemy xx
@Jablicek A popular band, singer is my dad now!

I'm glad I have a good voice too xD
Great song. Great sound. Loved the whole album.

all brokenhearteds should have a computer to question about their exes repeatedly "why did she left me" :-D.
Love this song
he had an awesome voice when i saw them live in the 80's
