I don't like the harder to read dark numerals, but I understand that's more for looks. If you're like me and want at a glance legibility in a watch, they do have a solar 41mm version with white numerals. Overall, I'm glad they came out with these models. They even have 36mm for those that prefer smaller watches.
Great video bro. This watch is way slicker than I was expecting. I wish Walmart or target would carry some of these cool timex models and not just their 30 dollar watches. Seems like a great everyday watch or as you say grab and go.
Thank you 🙏 for your support and to be honest for us watch people $159 sound super inexpensive, but regular people think otherwise IMHO. I think that’s the reason we only find the cheap Timex models in those stores. None the less Timex is moving in the right direction!
I bought this watch half a year ago. The only negative is that there is no anti-reflective coating on the glass. It’s not always possible to quickly see what time it is. on the other hand, sapphire glass for that kind of money is a gift. The watch case is made of very high quality. I didn't find any shortcomings.
Seems like a pretty solid offering from Timex nice to see a stainless steel case & sapphire crystal instead of the usual plated brass or alloy cases, there's a few quartz pieces popping up with the transparent dials seems to be a bit of a thing at the moment not a fan of that if I'm honest. Fantastic intro video too.👍
I have the 36mm with the normal finish - not the dark one. My biggest complaint is the color of the numbers. The numbers are gray, and it's hard to read in lower light. Had they used bright white, I'd love this watch a whole lot more. Also, I worry about the effectiveness of the solar. I had this sitting on a watch tree thing near a window for two weeks. The watch had slipped so it was facing downward, but not laying on its face. I have two Eco-Drives and a G-Shock solar on the same tree in the same position. The Timex actually ran dry and stopped running. There's plenty of ambient light there. My Eco-Drives and Casio have never even gotten low sitting in the same place. I feel like the Timex must be way behind in the solar tech department. My #1 complaint is the numbers though. You can't really tell from the marketing photos, but the lack of whiteness really hurts the legibility. Bummer.
Its says on the site of the 36mm "anti-reflective sapphire crystal" .do you know if its like the one you reviewed or if they have changed something? Because i dont know what the specs on the one you review were mentioning but it was reflective.thanks
I may pick it up at some point. I think that version would fit me a lot better and it is definitely a lot more legible than this version. Thank you 🙏 for watching!

Timex still can’t get the second hand to land on the marker can they. This watch is about £135 in the Uk. For that price I would expect a bit more accuracy to be honest. Great review though. Many thanks.
It's a good looking watch and it's nice to see Timex making a higher quality version of their old Camper/MacGyver model. If it wasn't for the incessant virtue signaling about recycling and saving the planet I might buy one.
Great review, and I like the watch. In my opinion though, field watch = legibility, and i don't see that in this model. There are other Expedition North models that live up to the "Field watch" ethos, but this watch, although very cool, seems to be more of a casual watch or even Field watch inspired, but not really a Field watch.
I don't super get the hate for 50m water resist, sure higher numbers are nice on paper -- but how many people not buying a dive specific watch need more than that? 50m is handily past the sport diving depth limit, should be plenty for 99% of people, the others whom would buy a specific watch for that purpose or just wear a dive computer.
Hi! Nice review, congrats! I’m looking for this specific model to buy. I see in your video that the case is black and the inside is kind of blue. The only model I’m able to find is black on both case and sphere… at least that’s what it looks like in the pics… Could you please tell me the exact code model number of this specific watch?? Thanks a lot!!!

When I first got this watch in early October I was blown away by how awesome it was. Was being the key word. Two months later and I have to fully expose it to an led lightsource for hours to fully charge it every couple of weeks (and yes I wear it and it gets enough light). I've NEVER had this issue with my ecodrive or my Gshock solar! I'm 💯 sure that it's jsut that Timex solar is horrible!!! This watch went from 5 out of 5 stars down to 2!

@@SoCalWatchReviews thanks for letting me/us know that!! I'm glad it's not just my watch. I just emailed Timex this morning, so I'm curious what they say!

I would never suggest the Expedition NORTH Solar IF you’re looking for a SOLAR watch. For 1/3 of the price you can get the Scout solar. You do lose stainless steel for brass, sapphire for mineral glass and 50m instead of 100m. But that’s not worth paying 3 times for north. Get scout solar if you want a Solar watch which is a lot less expensive and basically looks identical.
