Thanks for watching guys. I'm getting most of these watches in for review so please don't forget to like and subscribe so you are alerted when those videos are live. The first one coming in is the mechanical in 38 mm. Thanks again
Because Timex watches are inexpensive people think that means they're of poor quality but truth is Timex are some of the best watches you can buy and they don't cost a fortune either .
I haven't worn a watch for 15 years or so. I got a Timex expedition metal field yesterday. Olive face, tan leather strap. Delivered to the UK from storkz, USA. I absolutely love it!
Don't forget the screw down crown and case back! That's huge, the 36mm one ticks all the boxes for me. Definitely gonna get one when they pop out in Europe.
Seagull movement though? Why use chinese knockoffs when hamilton is not that much more expensive and is definitely a better package in everything from movement to watch construction?
@@MaximDomnitskyi Khaki Field is on my list and I hope I'm gonna get it this Black Friday. The 36mm is only Solar Powered, not mechanical but the main reason I like it is the size. I love the 36mm diameter and this watch, having a solar powered quartz movement, sapphire crystal with AR coating, screw down crown and a nice price point makes it perfect for me. Also, Timex is my favorite watch brand, even if it makes cheap watches, so that's also a big factor. But I definitely agree with you, Hamilton is a better package overall and the price is also good. But Timex makes great watches too and they have a lot of history. Definitely not Chinese knockoffs. The military field watch dial is standardized, just like the flieger one, so you can't actually say that it's a knock off. Both the Hamilton Khaki Field and Timex MK1(it didn't had this name back then) were issued in the army a lot of years ago.
bought myself a Timex expedition Solar a few weeks back, I hadn't owned a Timex since my teenage years , I'm 63 , I love my Timex , classic American product , right down to the Redwing Min, leather strap...
Wow... Timex is really stepping up their game on those one. That mechanical looks like a good contender to compete with the mentioned Hamilton khaki. Which, in my opinion, is the greatest mechanical field watch out there for the price.
Regarding the TEMP/COMPASS watch if you go on their website and click on the item you see a PDF link for full Instructions. I just read them. Impossible to know how to operate it without reading these. I recommend reading this before purchasing. I do plan to purchase one. Very cool watch! 👍
I really like these watches. Timex has been doing lots of good things these past few years. Although usually they overprice a lot of their pieces so you have to wait for sales, I actually think these are actually priced well at the full retail price.
Excellent Timex is keeping up with technology, I very much like the solar power with sapphire. Keep up the great work Chris your always one step ahead of the other reviewers.
Wow!!! Definitely getting that first one! Very glad to see Timex creating great stuff. Was the first brand of watch I ever loved and bought, back as a kid. I'll be happy to add one back into the collection. Terrific to see watch brands concerned for the planet. I love my CW#tide!
They already have a waiting list for the 43mm. Just joined it, and yup, the 15% off deal is still there as well. Really appreciate the news you bring on great watches! I've bought quite a few now, thanks to your awesome channel!
Okay, mine just arrived in the mail. The North post mechanical. It is indeed a giant step up for Timex. The case is nice and solid. Definitely thicker than the Hamilton. The dial (I got the blue one) reminds me a lot of Seiko 5. It kind of makes me wish that I had gotten the white one instead. But other than the usual Timex short hands syndrome, I can't find anything to complain about. It's a nice navy blue that looks good in the sunlight, the hands and the case are sand blasted finish. There's a good heft and solidity to it. The strap is the same as what they've been putting on the Marlin automatics. I could take it or leave it, but it's not trash. The winding is pretty smooth. The ticking is not loud. I'm pretty darn impressed for the price. They did not skimp on this....it has a real, quality feel. They came to play and this is a serious contender for people who want a manual wind field watch but don't want to pay Hamilton prices.
It depends on which movement they use. I've noticed that the Japanese quartz movements they have in the Q watches don't make much noise.... Not like the Weekenders or the Peanuts/Snoopy watches that you can hear from across the room.
The Time/Tide model it looks like they re-used an old Intelligent Quartz movement. Nice to see they're keeping some of these alive, I have a compass/chrono IQ from 2013 and it's a nice model.. The field watches really look nice, they all have that Hamilton Khaki vibe for a lot less coin. I hope they do the 36mm in blue eventually.
Yes I love this. I have the Field Expedition watch and it's a workhorse. I just dropped a drill on it and it's still going strong 3 years in. The case looks well for how much I beat it up working and living. One thing that was missing was the crystal. And it's also AR Sapphire? Great price. I may wait and get one on sale. To people talking about Hamilton...meh I love both. Also Hamilton isn't solar and doesn't come in these colors. Also Hamilton isn't that cheap. I think the solar is the way to go.
Very good move for Timex. 38mm is my favorite size and sapphire! And $230 is a very good price. I think this is Timex taking aim at the new Seiko5 field watches and of course the iconic Khaki. I think for the same price as the Seiko you get Sapphire so a no brainer for me. I'm not sure an ETA is worth the extra $100 or so for the Khaki
It really depends. If you like the aura of Swiss made and 80 hours of power reserve is worth it to you, then yes. But honestly these Chinese seagull movements are perfectly fine. I've got a couple of them in hand wound Marlins and they're fine. I have no complaints. Plus these new Timexes are giving you AR coating on the sapphire and 100 m of water resistance, which the Hamilton doesn't give you. This is a direct shot at Hamilton. They've been so comfortable in this space because they've had no competition, they probably won't be too bothered. At least for a while. It'll be interesting to see if Timex eats into their sales of the Khaki Mechanical and in a year or so, we'll see the price coming down on that watch across the board.
I am liking this already. Just one thing I would like to change. The bezel is rather busy. I think removing the NE, SE, SW and NW label would clean it by a lot.
Back dial 43mm never did come in stock. Been on a waiting list since it was released. Green dial version finally was released, and I just ordered it. Excited to receive it. 👍
I just got the black dial version of the tide temp compass! I'm loving it so far, just the right weight, fits well on my 6.5 inch wrist, and the indiglo is great! Still trying to figure out how to use the tide/temp features, but watching those hands adjust when you move your wrist is awesome. Highly reccomend this watch
Love the sapphire crystals. The mechanical was easy for me over a Hamilton or Bulova field, though I hear the movement is cheaper. But nice mechanical slim, sapphire, found it to be a better white dial. Personally I don't trust their solar, they are stepping up, but in terms of longevity I trust Casio and Citizen more. The other expedition looks interesting, they have done interesting intelligent quartz watches before. But similar to solar I think Casio and Citizen offers a better product for still less cost. Casio and Citizen offerings are not sapphire but definitely more rugged and practical. Would have to see how the expedition ride/compass holds up.
Great review! I just picked up the 41mm blue dial solar field watch! Its also nice that a of these have 100m WR unlike most of the other timex lines which come in at just 50m!
Informative video but we’re you recording the voice over in your bathroom or a empty room? The acoustics wherever you were at aren’t vey conducive to that activity and quite echoy and resonate.
Thanks for posting this. While I like all of these, as you said, the Time/Time is really the one I'm looking at. One concern, why does the most expensive one not have a screw on case back? At least it appears that way to me. All of the other ones do. I don't see any lugs to remove that case back. Am I missing something here?
That mechanical version would be an awesome watch if it wasn’t for the Chinese movement. A Japanese movement couldn’t possibly have cost that much more. I don’t understand why companies do that. Such a shame. Timex has so much heritage, if they came out with a line of really nice watches in the $400 range they would sell like crazy.
Always liked timex keep on ticking and I have two to my collection both expedition both battery which have lasted over 3 years.dont think I can justify the price even with saphire. Like the solar function but not the jumpy second hand.most people expect to pay around £45 to 60 only probably only the watch community will pay out that much for a timex
Hope the solar ones lack the loud tick of the usual quartz used by Timex. It's the only down side of the brand until now. Cheap, cheap but it shouldn't wake you up in the middle of the night 😉

It's been another two hours, no change. The only quartz/solar watch I own is a Citizen. It was running when I opened the box and probably keeps better time than my Seiko's and Hamilton's. I guess I'll just stick to tried and true guys.
Water free leather? What did the cows drink, corn whiskey?
I wish the Tide-Temp-Compass was solar.
Wonder if the hands will line up with the indices. Hopefully they do or that’s a deal breaker. Good to see timex going more solar powered movements and sapphire crystal.
Really wish there was a 200m option
These are fantastic! I'm really impressed, definitely picking up the 43mm and one of their field watches. Timex has officially stepped up their game. Bulova....pay attention ! 👌❤
