Nice watch, personally I went with the Lorus Lumibrite, you get a 100m water resist and that insane lumibrite dial, my one is almost a decade old and is still looking great.
Like his Swiss Army Knife, the Timex watch was part of MacGyver’s iconic Every Day Carry kit in the first 3 and a half seasons - he lost the watch in the ‘Runners’ episode when he had to pawn* it to pay for his gas after Jennifer Reiner stole all the money out of his jacket pocket while giving him a hug. Hios windup watch fits MacGyver’s function over fashion sensibilities perfectly. The simple analog dial gives both 12 and 24-hour reading. The windup function means he never has to worry about flat batteries and the 30-meter water resistance lets the watch take a dip without any problems.
Thank you for the review. I admit I’m a watchaholic do it on a low budget. But I enjoy it. I have a smaller wrist so the 40mm watches are a little big. I have several that look like the timex, but are 35mm to 38mm better fit. I use just a few McGiver style bands and move them from watch to watch. Cost effective. Thanks again. Happy Hunting!
My dressier Timex 42 mm T2P219 has 100 m water resistance but then its more expensive and its basically an oversized camper with a leather strap. You can’t go wrong with the design - been around practically forever and its the classic field watch. Nothing else Timex has made is like this icon in their collection. Simple and rugged which is why MacGyver always wore it.
I inherited three Rolex watches the past March when my father passed away. One of them was purchased for $15k. My dad loved his Rolex watches. I have yet to wear one out anywhere. What do I wear daily? Timex Expedition Field Chronograph. I think I spent $50 for it on sale three or four years ago. I have always loved the simplicity of Timex and own a number of them including the Weekender, in addition to other watch brands. But the Expedition is my ‘go to’
I just got one, thanks for the recommendation. Great watch for the money. In fact, the box it arrived in was nicer than most of the watches I've ever bought. I owned a Seiko SNK andd gave the watch away. I found the dial too hard to read. I bought a Seiko SNZ which has a much better dial. They are basically the same watch but the SNZ is better. This Timex is awesome for the money.
That huge plastic dome is going to be a scratch magnet. Other than that, it looks pretty good. Yeah, I am sensitive to weight. This is why one of my two daily drivers is a Citizen solar titanium. The other is a solar G-Shock square (also very light).
I like this so much I grabbed it in both black and white dial. Great watch. I prefer it to the Weekender (which I don’t own) and the expedition scout. I actually like your colorway much better than the MacGuyver colors

I agree with the low water resistant rating for a so called MacGyver watch but realize a Big Mac combo in Canada is $8.49 plus tax so for the price of 3 meals at MacDonald you can buy a modern watch is quite remarkable.

@@the1010watchclub Yes, but unfortunately I ruined the fixed lug "bars" of the old one as I sawed them off to put on leather straps... I love your review and I ordered one from your link, but the SNK809 is Not a "field watch". It's a B type fleiger. My hand wind Hamilton Khaki mechanical is the actual watch they copied, which is really the king of the field.

Thanks for the review. I'm buying this because it's lightweight. I have the Timex Expedition Scout and that fucker is so heavy I rarely wear it. It's always noticeable while working and I hate that.
Not sure the SNK is a fair comparison, I disagree about the dial, I am 6’2 with over 8 inch wrists and the SNZ never looked small. I find the timex dial a little busy. I agree about the WR, but at this price the Lorus lumibrite is a better option at 100m WR. I had a timex weekender sitting on the table next to me and it was like sitting next to a grandfather clock…. Great video
Sadly, I disagree. The only thing that stops me from agreeing with you is the stem. I’ve not owned a Timex analog watch that held on to it’s stem more than a few days. I’m old so I can’t see digital watches’ digits very well but I found a Timex, an Atlantis 100, on the ground at a landfill about 15 years ago that is my favorite beater. One thing I have to say about Timex is they will replace their watches that fail or give a discount on a replacement. I have returned several for replacement. One other thing is water resistance. I have not had a 30 meter rated watch leak. I wear my watches in the shower, pool, and ocean. In salt water, I would wear a 30 meter watch when snorkeling. I know this kind of wear is beyond the factory specs but a field watch must by definition survive and thrive in the bush.
Well... the second hand noise is kinda an infamous characteristic of quartz watches, especially in the affordable category. I have two weekenders: a chronograph and a small seconds... and I was lucky enough that both doesn't make the infamous Timex ticking thanks to the small second hand on both. I think this Timex mk1 looks super cool with that dome acrylic and the markers, I have a Hamilton mechanical and I really like the field watch look. Not a resistant watch. You have to concern a lot about the plastic glass, not to scratch it. It's nice looking but really have to take care a lot about the cristal. Not for any outdoor activities.
