I got my first experience with the 13th floor in 1983 when I was a very young Deputy Sheriff. It was the mid point of the PCP epidemic and I made the trek from Firestone Station to “County USC” with a naked bad guy almost every week. It was quite an amazing place and very well staffed with both medical staff and Deputies. In fact, if I remember right, the nurses had smaller sized LASD badges that had “Registered Nurse” in place of Deputy. At one time, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept. ran the third largest hospital system in Los Angeles County. It was a huge operation. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to have seen some of these now closed down place when they were alive and operating. It was an interesting time to be a young police officer.
My mom worked as a nurse on this floor. It was always creepy to me if I had to go up there snd get something from her. The chained up inmates in the elevator, just the whole damn thing gave me the heebee jeebees. Even though they are underground now, its still creepy as hell
Power failure while the doors are closed. 😲 Looks old and dirty on the floor, looks like it hasn't been used as intended for a good while? Stayin tuned! 😺
