    The crib with the plastic is for kids who need humidified air. It gets very steamy & wet under the plastic tent. The refrigerators are for blood & blood products. At 5:28 thats a dialysis machine worth tens of thousands. 8:20 bone saw. 8:33 light anomaly passes in front of you Josh. The room at about 11:30 is a delivery room/ operating room for maternity. I can tell by the paper work, equipment and working in one almost 40 years. 11:47 behind Josh is an anesthesia machine with monitors for vital signs and I see this machine can deliver 3 gasses to aid in anesthesia. The end this is not blood it looks like betadine which is plentiful in operating rooms. Im a registered nurse & familiar with this equipment most, probably all is out dated & not comparable with equipment today.

      But, a LOT of it is NOT ANY different than what is still currently in use, such as the isolettes for babies in the NICU, and the warmers where they put the babies when they're first born to clean and weigh and measure them or, if they need any kind of treatment they do it there also, the crib (that sort of looks like a big metal cage) those are still used for hospitalised babies, most of the tools are still in use, a lot of those lights are very expensive and, still in use today, the exam tables are expensive and, still in use in many doctors offices and clinics, there's actually quite a bit of that stuff that's still in use and, as was mentioned before, what ever isn't, can be donated. It's really sad to see that, I mean theres probably over a million dollars worth of equipment just gone to waste.

    The camera you said was "for operations" is endoscopy/bronchoscopy equipment for checking out people's lungs/throats/stomachs/etc. That's why it's so clean! It's very expensive & I'm shocked that they didn't at least take that with them!
    That autopsy form shows that the baby died because part of it's bowel died & opened up leaking infection into it's stomach & blood. That was one very sick premature baby! It would have taken a miracle for the baby to survive! So sad.

      I imagine it’s because they lost most of the records on the equipment. They don’t know who it was purchased from, the serial numbers, the history of usage, how much it costed at the time of purchase or what materials it came into contact with. Not to mention most of it is outdated and isn’t ideal for hospitals.
      I’m not totally sure though, this just seems like the most logical reason

    • @soniccookie655
      @soniccookie655 6 років тому +8

      I think after the earthquake they figured it was damaged and wasn't salvageable (or if it was, it was too dangerous to risk using). I agree with Meaty, too. It's important to have records of the equipment.

    the paper you showed at 8:43 in the morgue, was most likely from a premature baby that did not make it. which makes it even more creepy/sad. necrotizing entercolitis happens in premie babies when their bowel tissues don't fully form, then the tissue dies from necrosis. which is why on other condition it says "prematurity."

      NEC can also happen at birth. Not just with premature babies (but that is where it is most common). If the birth is difficult then air supply can be cut off causing the intestine wall to die.

    Reading that baby's file around 8:43 is so sad. I have nearly died of sepsis due to a perforated large intestine and it was the absolute most painful thing I've ever experienced in my life but at least they could fix what happened to me, that child didn't even have a chance with parts of its bowel undergoing tissue death which could've possibly caused the intestines to perforate and that of course would lead to that poor baby going into septic shock, having no way out because it was premature and no doctor can fix that. It's just tragic, seeing anything about babies or children dying in hospital pains me because I've been around it too much, I've seen some of the most amazing, strong, caring nurses have total breakdowns because they lost a patient and I don't blame them, you wish it wouldn't happen but it does and it's never something you can get used to.

      That’s a nice thought. But would you want to spend the massive amount of money it would cost to ship all that to someone in need? Many of these abandoned hospitals are in serious financial trouble. They don’t have the money and I would imagine holding an auction wouldn’t bring many customers and wouldn’t be worth it. I think you’re assuming the people in charge just didn’t think of all those possibilities. I promise they did and couldn’t make it work with their finances or logistics. It all comes down to money. Its not because they’re cold hearted people. You have a snippet of the entire picture. Assume that there’s more to the story of why stuff is left “wasted” than you really know.

    8:46 for people wondering and too lazy to look up the information
    Necrotizing enterocolitis is where a part of your bowel dies, it mostly happens in newborns so that document could have very likely been a baby's. Septic Shock is where when one of your organs has an injury or damage so your body tries to fix it itself by moving all the blood to that organ and you die of low blood pressure and abnormalities in cellular metabolism.

      Pauly H Hospitals are privately owned in the US. They can go out of business like a store or restaurant. Stuff like this usually happens when an owner dies and there's a dispute about who ownership passes to and while its being resolved nothing inside can be touched, because its private property, and taking it would be theft until clear ownership is established.

    Temple Community Hospital, perched high above street-level, might be a familiar site to those driving by on the 101. The hospital opened in 1937 and operated for more than 70 years, until 2014, when it closed due to low revenue. Silver Lake Pinnacle swept in and bought the property for $13.5 million back in March. Rather than use the existing historic structure, developers will tear it down and start anew, which probably has something to do with the $50 million in estimated earthquake retrofits that would be necessary to get it up to code. In the hospital's place, the company plans to build two four-story buildings on the three-acre parcel of land, with a two-level underground parking structure below. With so many developments percolating in the area, the Temple Hospital project may have stiff competition luring potential residents.

O well why should they care about all that because we the people are having to pay for all this with out taxes and way over priced medical care. 3:22 If you were wondering what it is it was a bed thats helps the patients breathing. Its practically an older version of the electrical beds you get nowadays in hospitals but instead of being electric its probably a wind-up one hope that helped. 👍

      Netty Voyager equipment that may or may not work.

    • @user-xg6cq4cw3j
      @user-xg6cq4cw3j 6 років тому +14

      On top of not knowing if it would work, they don’t have the records. They have zero clue when and where the equipment was purchased, what company manufactured the equipment, how much it costed when it was purchased, where they could get that outdated equipment repaired (if they could at all), or what materials or even animals came into contact with it.
      It’s not as simple as just donating it. The time it would take to find out all the necessary information to donate the equipment would take longer than sending new equipment, which is already a slow process. I wish it were that easy but it isn’t

    • @laurenbarnett8912
      @laurenbarnett8912 6 років тому +7

      And to add to the previous statements, even though the building is abandoned and has been for years, it would be considered theft and depending on how much equipment was removed it could be a felony. It’s not his to take, so I’m glad he respectfully left it alone and didn’t bother the building and left it the way he found it.

    Why is it all this very valuable equipment left behind just for the vandals to destroy??
    Countries in Africa are screaming out for anything they can get. They could put this
    Machinery to good use. It doesn't matter if it's a little old they could still use it.
    Such a waste. Great video Josh!
