This is why, as a nurse on the floor, I make sure to get my CNAs gifts for CNA week myself. I have their shirt size, favorite color, favorite food, favorite drink, favorite snack, perfumes or colognes and lotions they like, etc. write down on a notebook so I don't forget them and get them a gift bag every year. I also do special things for them like buying lunch, drinks, and other stuff like that every so often. I also tell them on the daily that I appreciate them and all the hard work they do.

Being a nurse, I can attest this is EXACTLY how facilities treat CNA’s which is ridiculous. I would go out and make gift bags for MY CNA’s that worked on my floor to show how much I appreciated them. It’s backbreaking work and their upper line nurses should show there appreciation. They also should get off their rear ends and check with the crew and HELP when needed. NEVER forget where you came from!

Where I worked before leaving the profession, somehow they managed to hand out crappy gifts to CNAs & nurses. When families would bring in pastry or donuts the DON would come and take them to the break room cuz no eating on the floor. The higher ups would demolish the food before ANY floor staff got to it.
Why is this accurate. All i got for CNA week was one of the cheap plastic cups that had our logo for the facility. A pencil and sharpener with a cheese sandwhich and an apple. While for the nurses on nurse week, they all got jackets and shirts with a pizza party.
My dad used to visit his friend in a nursing home. Leo insisted on my dad bringing him cash and thank you cards. He'd give his CNA's, the nurses, and the house keeping cash and a thank you card. He LOVED the house keepers too he'd insist they sit down and talk to him and he always had snacks. Lol Rip Leo, you were the best.

Before he went into care, every time I'd go over he'd make me biscuits and gravy, and he'd show me cool things on his little farm. Agreed but the point is all staff should feel valued especially the ones who pull the most weight and load of the responsibility of taking care of them .so much is taken for granted being a cna is a choice and most people do not want to do the hands on work of truly caring for someone.

We had Blue Cliff College come in and give the ladies massages, Aveda Institute come out and do facials as well as give gift cards, we also raffled over dinners, Natchez cruises and gifts bags full of goodies to all. Went all out as a former CNA I knew the struggle and wanted to show real appreciation. CNA’s do it all!!!!! Nurse’s were like what you have planned for us. Me I’m not y’all representative.
